I don't know if we have that much wiggle room/would we want to spend it on a 1.5 mil 6th dman. Meyer is one of the better hitting dmen in the league, and probably the most consistent one that is under 1.5 mil
-
Another option is Kurtis Foster, but he will probably get a larger raise for the reason you stated above and because he got 42 pts last year, Aaron Johnson and John Scott are FAs but they are pretty much pylons and I have yet to see John Scott throw a devastating bodycheck despite his size. I could see Mike Weaver being a possibility but he is older than Meyer and about the same size. The other guy with a comparable amount of hits is Francis Boullion, again, a smaller guy. the under 900,000$ dman range is incredibly weak and Meyer is probably the best hitter of the crop. I want Sutton as much as anybody, but I'm trying to look at this realistically, on getting a guy who is cheap but solid and worth the investment.

remember the isles are a terrible team and he was -2 on the season and he has shown offensive upside in the past, could be a guy who fits in the DRW system He throws the hipcheck more frequently than the open ice shoulder, but he definitely knows how to step up on guys, and he was 13th among dmen in hits, according to hockeyfights he only has 1 fight to his credit, beating max talbot.
-
he is 600,000 to start, even if you double his salary it definitely fits in our system good to know, scratch him off the list
-
In march of this year he averaged 20 min of ice time in 14 gp and was a +2
-
-2 on the isles is def a plus, he averaged 16 min a game, i think the isles rotated their D around alot so it is hard to tell what pairing he was normally, especially since Martinek was injured most of the season and Sutton left at the deadline. he was 13th in the league amongst dmen in hitting with 178. 87 blocked shots. 64 GP.

Kopecky blows, Leino obviously wasn't producing here
-
Another step in the wrong direction yet again, they are masochists
-
Like he says in there: Asham, Mike Comrie is past his prime and a tiny player. And I hope the wings somehow get McIlraith in the draft
-
I have no idea, but the wings will at least make the playoffs.
-
He isn't our 6th dman, rather a solid guy we can call up.

I'm living there doin that, all of my friends who I never knew liked hockey were suddenly fans last year and this year, and when I make fun of them they vehemently deny being bandwagoners. I always ask them funny things like "Who is Martin Lapointe?", they always show their true knowledge with that question. Got a hawks fan you hate? Ask em that, then laugh at them some more.
-
He didn't need to jump up into hits, Kronwall makes due with what he has, Vladdy was a big man, he definitely could throw the hip better than any other big-man
-
Garbage reffing in this one, bettmans dream for a cup clinching game
-
imagine living there like i do
-
I was thinking that too, I think he met him down in LA
-
lol i had to, it was perfect

edit: looks like that website is down here it is on another:
-
Shoulda been Pierre
-
If it means getting sutton and a decent pick, yes. Re-sign Eaves and hope he is the next Cleary, because he has that potential. It was one of the players
-
I jsut hate emerick, olczyk, and mcguire, it is fun to laugh at mcguire, but they created the worst combo possible, it is utterly annoying. And I also hate Cole, he was decent back during the Civil War.

Would a real gritty fighter help or hurt this team?
jollymania replied to babygorilla's topic in General
did it help them? As others have stated, guys like Asham and Armstrong (to a lesser extent fighting wise) are good choices
