People don't like Avery because of the reputation he got after he said something that wasn't even that bad. The NHL just decided to jump on the PC bandwagon and demonize the guy for "VULGAR AND PROFANE" language. Sure the guy likes the talk smack but is there anything really wrong with that? If a Wing were to do it we would all love it. And he is a decent player to boot.

Raw stats don't mean anything. Just looking at Franzen's numbers makes you think "oh yeah ok he seems to do good he deserves a huge contracnt" But if you actually watch the games you can clearly see he is pretty much a no show. He doesn't do ANYTHING most of the time. Just skates around minding his own business. And all of those goals he scores, are usually done at pointless times. IE Last night when we were already down 2 (or 3 I can't remember) goals to the Kings. Or better yet when we're up 2 or 3 goals. Playoff preformer or not, I want you to play your heart out EVERY TIME you step out onto the ice. Not just in the post season. Because once you start trending in a direction you typically keep following it. And right now Franzen is NOT trending in a positive direction in any facet of the game.

I think this thread title should be changed to (Blank) at Anaheim Ducks since clearly the Red Wings didn't show
-
If people are scoring against JMac one on one then the problem is with out DEFENSE. Not with our goalie. It should never be one on one with our goalie EVER.
-
Why don't we just play one period where we start down 3 goals. It seems to end up that way every game anyway.
-
I think it's safe to assume that we are SCREWED if Lids retries and Stuart bounces to the west coast next year.
-
Well to be fair every goal only has those two outcomes. Either it contributes to the win or it's meaningless

If you Could Change Five Outcomes in Hockey History

Wings in 2011 Wings in 2010 Wings in 2009 Wings in 2007 Wings in 2006 Oh wait I didn't read the title -
Too bad it was in a shoot out... And we are currently down 3 with 9 to go...
-
Whew thank God back to even strength
-
Wings on the PP..... guess that means it will be 5 to 1 soon enough
-
Oh god. That drunk guy needs to SHUT UP
-
Can we just start declining penalties like in football?
-
Wings are too soft obviously
-
It's ok. we have lots of experience coming back from 2+ deficits in the third period...
-
Our whole team wasn't injured then?

Huddler is lazy and he suc- HUDDLERRRRR

Am I the only person who sees the Refs miss an obvious penalty against the Kings, and then think to myself "Thank God we don't have to go on the power play again"
-
Yeah I really like the kings too. So I do kinda hope it goes to OT so they at least get a point too. And knock SJS out of play off contention for the moment is always a plus!

4 points out of first place is UNACCEPTABLE. Let's cut that in half tonight.

Looking at the upcoming schedule, the Blues play Columbus twice in two days. Home on Saturday and away on Sunday. Our Bluejacket buddies better play their hearts out or St. Louis could quickly pull away.

What do you think needs to be done to fix the PP/PK
CrimsonFlame replied to Jeff6851's topic in General
There's one thing I absolutely hate about our power play. More often than not we spend a minimum of thirty seconds cycling the puck. Just passing back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth waiting for the perfect opportunity to shoot. Maybe I just prefer a different style of hockey but if it were up to me I would throw the puck on the net as often as possible. At least when you shoot at the net it generates a chance to score. Not always a good chance, but a chance none the less. I at least prefer to have the chance rather than spending all two minutes just passing the puck around getting a total of two shots in what should be two minutes of free offense. Oh that and then there are just those power plays where it seems like WE are the ones down a man. But that's a whole different animal. -
Just remember: The Playoffs and the regular season are two completely different animals. And regular season success doesn't always translate into post season success. So Blues fans can enjoy what they have going right now, but don't start thinking your destined for greatness until you've achieved it.

Lets get things back on track boys. The January/Februrary grind is over. Now is the time to shift gears.

If anything the streak will actually help us win a cup if we can secure home ice advantage. It is an intimidation factor.
