Are you serious dude, you should go dig up those threads, when this team lost 2 games to Nashville the residents of this board were tweaking out. Posters were calling for heads to roll from Holland, the Players, etc. etc. I love how some of the posters here welcome some one that is a fan of another team, then some rip him because he is a fan of another team. You may be able to find a handful of posters who were level headed about losing to Nas, but there were some threads about how the wings were going to lose 4 in a row to Nashville, one entitled this is why the Red Wings suck. I wouldn't be so quick to point a finger (to borrow a phrase from my teaching 5th grade days) because there are 4 pointing back at you (or us as a board in this case)!

IMO: Schneider Markov << Rafalski Stuart unhealthy hurting Bert < Helm or Mac

After staring at that photo for awhile I went cross eyed, then I refocussed, when the camera turns(if the camera could turn) I believe it would get harder and harder to tell if that right hand edge of the puck is on the line or past it. From that angle it looks like the puck is just barely over the line, then if you could turn the camera it would get really difficult to call it.

The funny thing is the only wing with a cup that Raf will actually have more than is Dats. Draper, Lids, Mac, Maltby, would(if they win) all be collecting number 4 (cheli will have 3 as well). But you would think a guy coming over with 2 cup rings already would be one of the guys with the most rings!!

I have a huge problem with the bolded part, not that you said it, that it exists. I hate the fact that the refs start to think during a game, it leads to a situation where they are calling make up penalties or they will let a penalty go because they can't possibly give team x 4 pp's in a row. The best compliment I can give a ref about a game is man, I didn't even notice you were out there!!

Haven't we as a society advanced enough technologically that someone could put a chip in the puck and sensors in the posts/goalline so that the goal light would be automatic when then puck makes it across the line!

Seriously if you are going to do that I would do it with Maltby Draper Drake Downey Helm Mac With Mule Mule Flip Huds Cleary Draper Drake Maltby Helm Mac Sammy is not a checker (well an aggressive checker) and is not defensively sound enough to play on the fourth line. But I wouldn't make the move only because that 4th line has so much chemistry going for it. Leave Huds and Helm together and let them develop the way it looked like Huds and Flip would, then you let Flip and Mule play together (next year I am talking about now!)

I am not sure about this so it is a question out of curiosity not questioning you, but isn't Hakan more tied into Jim Nill and Devellano than Holland. For some reason I remember reading one of or the two of them brought Hakan in. I could be very very wrong though!

Just a thought: Red Wings V Nas, southern warmer climate, Red Wings lose 2 of 3 on the warmer surface. Red Wings V Col, Northern colder climate, Red Wings dominate two games on their ice. Not a correlation just exploratory thought! Bad ice affects a puck possession team a lot more than a non puck possession team. If you are not worried about your clear going to the right person (because Dallas clears the puck and chases it down) you don't care how well the puck moves across the surface. Therefore it will not impact their leaving the zone, unlike Detroit passing out of the zone. If you are a puck possession team, with crisp break out passes that lead to your offense or setting up in the zone, it becomes a lot more difficult to control the puck and make it tougher to pass. If both teams played the exact same style of hockey, and all the players skated the exact same way than YES, bad ice would have no different impact. However seeing as Dallas does not play (no one really does) the same caliber of puck possession hockey as Detroit it will impact the teams differently. It may impact their ability to hit a home run pass now and again, but how often do you see them clear the puck out of their zone and chase it down, as opposed to Detroit who gathers the puck, finds the open man and uses passes to not only clear the zone, but turn it into offense. But if what DallasStars is saying about the new building is true, it won't matter, but to say the ice will impact both teams the same is not true.

Oh no, dallas stars you are right, people on here freak at the drop of a hat, Melrose hates the wings ZOMG!!1!!!!!1JKGHJKHASJDFHDHSDJKFHASDJKFH Melrose picks the wings Now were fuct ZOMG!!!!!111ladklfaldkjfalsdkjfl;asdkjf;laksdjf

In one year that would lock up goaltending for 5 years!!! MILLER IS NOT A UFA UNTIL AFTER THE 08-09 SEASON!!!!
-
Style of play has a lot to do with the fact that the bad ice will be harder on Detroit than Dallas. Yes both teams are playing on the s***ty ice, but if your offense is based on crisp passes and moving the puck around the defense and playing keep away, s***ty ice and bad bounces will impact your game more than a dump and chase team. Now granted Dallas isn't a dump and chase team, but they are by no means close to the puck possession style of team Detroit is. So if the ice is choppy and creates a lot of bad bounces it will hurt Detroit worse than Dallas. But you are right, to quote Naught By Nature, Everything is gonna be alright!!!

Well Put sir, well put!!!

When you win, you get hated on, when you lose everyone wants you to succeed, well right up until the point in time you become a winner and then everyone hates you, until you suck again!!! It is a vicious cycle!

Here are a few questions: Are the Red Wing's savvy enough to pull off the old switcheroo? Did they fain interest in Brunnstrom so that people would follow their lead? I mean it is well known that Hakan is the European scouting god, if the wings are interested in Brunnstrom, they make their interests known, now other teams are thinking, damn this kid is a Swede, the Wings are talking to him, we should be too. All the while they are talking to Leino behind the scenes and walk away with the more talented player. Not saying right now one is better than the other, I don't know that, but it seems like a likely scenario. Have the Wings gotten to a level with their scouting that other teams are willing to try to pick off players they are going after? Would they use that to fool others and get who they want?

And gives pronger 6th 7th 8th chances, thought I would add that to your point, just to show how consistently inconsistent the league is!!! It won't be in a fight, either Drake, Kronner, or Stuart will catch him near the boards or in open ice with his head down!! Or maybe Ozzie can get him with the Haschzech!!!! Borrow a move from Hasek and take out Ribiero on a break away. I can see it now the D parts way like the red seas, Ribiero is busting through center ice, looking around can't figure out why he has the break away, and then BOOM!!! Ozzie 30 feet out of his net takes out his feet and Ribiero lands on his hand getting a concussion and unfortunately for us and fortunate for the side affects are that he forgets ever wearing this: You and me both brother, well until the wings get to the next round, then they will come back here, not proclaiming they were irrational or pissed off for a moment. NO they will come back start posting with more attitude and expect that everyone here will let them skate on their posts without ever admitting they were an Asshat!!! Are you threating me, need TP for my Bunghole!!!!! Sorry couldn't resist!!

I wonder if Huet will go back to Was. If he doesn't what other option is out there for them? I ask in all seriousness, whom do you think they go after? I highly doubt they use Johnson, and I think there will be quite a few teams interested in Huet.

How could the NHL play game one of this series on Tuesday, when if the Sharks won game 6 there would have been a game 7 that day!! Don't you think you should finish one round of the playoffs before you start the next, I mean it would seem pretty silly to have the wings start a series with Dallas if the Sharks won game 7. Then you have to start the series all over again!
-
No real surprise, the question is where do they go from here? Huet is a UFA as well correct?
-
Great point, he was one of the first people to speak up when he thought the PA was not doing its job. He was the face of the players fighting back. I never thought of that, he does show a great deal of dedication to the sport.

When you say J-Ho can't carry the load are saying next year or you don't think he will be an NHL goaltender?
-
mac- Helm- Huds has been a very good energy line, and I think that energy was missing last night, remember only one goal for the wings was ES. Drake -Draper - Cleary should not be messed with at all, best defensive line on the ice and Drake is hitting anything that moves this post season! Thus leaving Maltby out. I have said since the start of the year, the long term Maltby deal was a bad idea. If these playoffs are a sign of things to come, Maltby may be trade bait. But seeing what he has done for this team I don't see them trading him.

Actually the award is for: I would have to assume Cheli is there from his dedication to Hockey. There was a lot made this year, more than other years, about his offseason workout. Plus he is 154, that has to count for something, right?

I think the salary cap will be the thing that finally stops the goalie carousel!

Good point I was thinking regular season, I bet the TDBanknorth Garden seats are more expensive in the post season.
