    THN Predictions

I watch or listen whenever I get a chance, they are very informed and have an honest look at sports. I mean when Golic talks about Steroids in pro sports he knows. He admits he did it admits he was wrong and tells his kids how much of a mistake it was. I listen to Rome as well, but only because it is like listening to Stand up comedy, but all the jokes are sports based. Rome just throws catch phrases around and asks stupid questions in his stupid way. Makes me laugh a lot, but..... He has some great interviews!!!!! That is the real reason, he gets some really good College sports coaches on there and his Pro Athletes can be good but the questions are really soft. Some of the Amateur athletes and Olympians he gets are great interviews. But I do like Mike and Mike.

    THN Predictions

On the Best of Mike and Mike, Golic said he thinks the best thing for the NHL would be Pit Det finals. Didn't catch exactly what he was saying up until the end but something to the point it would show case young talented players. Would be good for the base.

Start times for Round 3 games

That is a great schedule, all 4 teams are going to be well rested after these series, even if they all go 7, there will be so little travel involved, hell in the east all of the guys will sleep in their own beds every night, well they will probably still go to a hotel, but you get the point.

    THN Predictions

I love it!!!!! The C's just got taken to 7 by the Hawks, everyone is doubting them, the Wings got taken to game 6 by Nas, everyone is doubting them. It should be a great lesson for both teams, they learned that there is no easy team in the playoffs, regardless of injuries, luck, skill, beard length, whatever else the thing that matters most in the playoffs is heart, do you desire it more than the next guy, are you willing to potentially play 28 games of balls to the wall all out (any other cliche you want)! All the while the media gives the team all of the Bulletin board material, you don't need the other team to open their mouths (I highly doubt any of the Stars would run their gums, or try something with the Octopi) because the media is doing it all for you. Granted a guy like KG will get more outwardly intense but I think the Wings players are just as intense as he is, and will use the doubt to prove others wrong. At least I am hoping!!!!

Isn't the TPC at Sawgrass on this weekend? I think that is what is taking precedence over Playoff Hockey. Not that I am in agreement with NBC, I am just saying I think that is why.

What should we do about Maltby?

I agree and if the Sammy of the 1st round shows up in the WCF, then hook 'em, and it should be a short leash, because if he is making a ton of mistakes and costs Mule his momentum/zone/streak that would be very costly to the wings. If the wings become a one line team they are screwed, the same can be said for any team though, in the post season!

    WCF: Detroit vs. Dallas

I know I am so god damn tired of Sammy fore checking and leading to another Mule goal, that gets so god damned annoying! 7 points in 10 games what an asshat I really wish this guy would do something that could help the team. /sarcasm Some of you need to stop bashing players just so you can bash someone! Oh and wings in 6

Start times for Round 3 games

I have got to assume they will be at 8 est. Which would be great I love the fact that all of the west coast teams are elimintated, no offense west coast fans, but that means all of the games will be played on an Eastern or Central time zone!!!! YAY no late games!!!!!

What should we do about Maltby?

F.Michael, Cool some of the questions were to get a grasp on where you are. And believe it or not people were calling for Homer's demotion, so I had to check. I agree the PP failed Det last year, horribly. The problem with your changes is that they are all hopes, ifs, wishes. Instead what Babs has in front of him and in the lines he has put out there is a known. He knows that Flip, Mule, Sammy are the best line (energy not skill wise) on the ice nightly, allowing DZH to focus on D as well as O without having to carry the offense. IMO, Sammy is out next year, and as I said above if you say move Sammy in the 1st round, no problem, my issue with moving him now is timing. He is producing, multiple times his fore checking has led to a Mule goal. Now some on here refuse to credit him when he does something well, I have seen you on these boards for a while and don't think you are a closed minded poster, but your posts on this subject make you look/sound like a closed minded Sammy Hater!! You can't give Mule credit for scoring 9 against Col and then in the next breath knock Sammy because his points came against Col! Do you see how that can be perceived as hypocritical?

    "Feed the Mule!" Shirts

I have to tell you as much as Mule is kicking Ass (pun intended) if tends continue Ozzie will get more than a consideration for CS!!! If Ozzie and Mule both continue their streaks Ozzie going 14-0 with the best GAA and SV% and Mule scores 20+ goals (it would be hard to score 25+ if the wings are winning every series in 4). I think the best Mule could hope for is a tie with Ozzie. Now if Ozzie only loses one or two games a series (especially in the WCF and SCF the competiition will be tougher and you have to think that Dallas will win at least one at home if not all 3) and Mule keeps his streak going then it will be Johan's. But if we are playing the "IF things keep going this way" game you have to do the same for all players, Lids would be a contender, played great D all post season, Kronwall, who is leading all D-men in assists last I looked and he is playing physical great D, Dats, Z, Mule, Ozzie, these guys are all potential candidates if things keep going this way! But then again, Hossa, Malkin, Umberger, Biron, Turco, etc. would also all be contenders>

What should we do about Maltby?

So, there is no way he takes confidence from the Avs series, and scoring in the post season now comes with * based on who or what shape the team your facing is in? Really. So last year when the wings lost to ANA were you on here claiming that injuries were the factor, or were you one of the people who thought that the Ducks were just that much better because they were physical? And you want move Cleary, while offensively I see moving Cleary could turn out to be a 6-7 goal score on the 2nd line, or he could screw up the chemistry that line has and now Franzen goes from being a force to being lost because he has no flow with his linemates, and then: The Stars 2nd line goes off, the first will more likely be up against ZDH, because you just broke up the best defensive line the team has. But no, it is a great idea to take a team that just swept the Avs (hurt or not there are no excuses in the post season) winning the final game 8-2 and re tool the line up, that is what all successful coaches do in hockey, when your forward lines begin to click you change them up that way they stay on their toes and.... oh screw it I can't keep up the charade, you don't change your lines right now. If you wanted to move Sammy in the 1st round that was when you do it, not now!!! You don't move Cleary off of the Draper Drake line right now, defensively they are on fire, Drake is hitting everything that moves, Draper is forechecking and leading that line like he and Drake are both 25 again! Cleary fits in great with those guys. Next you are going to tell me the wings should break up ZDH because homer isn't putting up numbers!

WCSF Game 4 GDT: Red Wings 8, Avalanche 2

GMR The only time the announcers will give credit to Detroit is if the win it all. Other than that they will always point out how easy it was for them because of injuries, travel, wind direction, the smell of chili farts, whatever they can find. Why, I have no idea. Their will always be reasons why the Wings won't, can't, shouldn't have won. It just makes it all that much sweeter when they do things like last night!!

    7-0 or 8-2

I said 8-2 and here is why. 7-0 game: Hated rival, shot at the Stanley cup, all the reasons that you guys mentioned for the 7-0 game being more impressive lead to an overall strong effort from the team. Last night, A limping half dead team, no rivalry, 3-0 in the series, all of the reason that you guys say the win wasn't as impressive, give the wings the perfect excuse to let up. They didn't, they played the whole game at 100% go mode. There was no let up, even when they were destroying a crippled (by injuries not slamming them), they controlled the puck and had the mentallity that there was no way they were even going to give Avs even a glimmer of hope. Yes the 7-0 was probably the best Red Wing playoff game I have ever watched, but what impressed me the most was not the overall outcome of the game but the way the Wings played the game. They had already displayed the ability to whoop COL's asses, chased the goalie 2x in 3 games, scored 4+ in 3 games, the team they were facing was decimated with injuries, they had every reason to not play at 100%. Yet what did they do for 60 minutes last night, they played at 100%! But feel free to say that I was born after 2003, or I am dumb or all the other reasons you guys have already come up with. But, I was very very impressed with the effort the boys put out there last night, that is the type of effort that could lead to the cup. Giving up on a team or thinking and playing like you have the series in the bag, is what leads to teams like Nashville crawling back into a game or a series.

    Out of town wings fans!

I tend to play it cool, let the on ice play do the talking for me. The first time I went to a wings game in boston, they lost. To top it off we are leaving the building and my G/f asks me to hold her Purse while she put on her jacket. edit: In case you missed why I added the bit about her purse, you can imagine the s*** yelled to me while wearing my jersey and holding a pocket book!!!! But the last time the wings owned the B's, and again I played it cool, but the moment some drunk dumb B's fan yelled "red Wings Suck" all I said was Scoreboard. Now the best part about this is that more often than not the building is 50% wings fans or more. So they all know my pain, the minute they heard my(and my buddy's, credit where credit is due) scoreboard chant, they all knew what was going down. The whole back stairway was ringing with the beautiful sound of SCORE BOARD!!!!!!!! SCORE BOARD!!!!!!!! Power in numbers baby!
  16. Why would someone trade for a play that obviously doesn't want to play in the NHL. He was given every chance. Maybe his leg injury is greater and more painful than we know, it could be pain that keeps him from working out. Whatever the reason I see no reason any team would be interested in him, with what happened at the start of this season, the Wings are his only hope, IMO. Everyone knows the wings are the best at finding diamonds in the rough, and now even they don't want him. That makes it a hard sell. I wish the best for him and it is too bad that the accident happened and derailed his progress, it is too bad he may never achieve his goal of being an NHL player. However the truth of the matter is at this point in time he has as much chance of coming back as Ray Bourque!

Wouldn't he want them to win this year, and then flop next year, you know the year before he is a free agent. Not the year before the year before he is a free agent!

    Great Article On Nick

I do miss Barry Smith and I can not believe he isn't coaching elsewhere, not that I looked or anything! I was one of the people around here that thought he was the better choice for head coach over Lewis. Not saying he would have done any better than Lewis, just that is who I thought was the better choice! http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&a...rticleid=361440 Did anyone check out the Ralf article linked in that story. Pretty good read!

    Kronwall and Rafalski

With this series well under control, I wouldn't mind seeing Downey at all, in fact I think he has earned it. If the series were filled with nail biters and was a close series I would say you don't reward a guy with post season play, but the series is 3-0. Why not let the guy grab 5-7 minutes of ice time from D-mac or Sammy for a game. But I am not questioning Babcock with that statement I am just saying!

Sundin getting married - Hints at retirement

Eva the difference being that when Stevie hadn't won a cup yet he was a lot younger and further from Retirement than Sundin is right. And I am sure there were people who thought those exact words but due to the internet not being what it is today, non of us heard or knew people were saying that. I agree though that he should not be ridiculed, but he should move on, there is a point in time (KG is a good reference) when you have to walk away from the club. Even though you have poured out you blood sweat and tears for years and years to try and do everything in your power to bring them and yourself to the cup. This team is going to be heading into rebuilding mode, I would hate to see Sundin play for 2 years while they rebuild and suck. Like you said or eluded too rather, he deserves respect, and even though they didn't draft him, he has and will always be a Maple Leaf, but if he wants a cup, truly deep down wants a cup, more than he wants to be remember as a loyal Maple Leaf, then I believe he should walk away from the leafs.
