The problem is, the league will look at it (probably already have) and they decide if he had intention to hurt or not. Even if he does get suspended that was a great thing to see, he laid him out and what impresses me more is that he really did it without worrying about hurting himself, which to me is very important and shows that his collarbone is absolutely fine!!! And to the poster who said he should be benched, I hope you were kidding. This team needs to show that not only will they not be pushed around but that they push you back, or push you first. If he does get suspended I still say it was well worth it.

Because there are already multiple threads on Fedorov, that is why. I am not ragging on you for starting the thread. I jumped into the conversation when it had turned to GS&T's idea about the new forum. But here is an example: About 2 weeks ago I wanted to post about Koivu and the fact that at the start of the year he said the Canadians were not contenders. His quote was misused and there was a thread here about how Koivu was a bad captain for talking about his team that way. Instead of starting a new thread, I searched for the old one and brought it back up. That is my point, especially if the thread or topic is only one or two pages deep in the forum. That is why I keep bringing that up.

Oh I agree pruning or Database maintenance would help tremendously, but that is again more work for someone who does this for free in their spare time! I do also agree that the threads from 05 are pretty useless, but that is because I have no need to go back and look at them, someone else might, highly unlikely though.

The only thing I disagree about with that post is that the traffic going the threads from 05, 06 is going to be minimal at best, the odds of some one going to a thread that is that old is less likely (by a wide margin) than the fresher ones. BTW: Best of luck with IT, I used to be a teacher and got really tired of that quick, went back to school to get a BS in IT and I couldn't be happier with the decision!!!!!

First off, my you in that first part was meant as a general you, not you specific. Secondly way to generalize, it is not the fact that posters are putting up new posts about feds I have a problem with, I have a problem with repetitive threads in general. You will notice not once did I say this was a feds specific problem. Why then do the mods merge posts? Why then do the mods delete duplicate threads about articles? Do you (specific this time) have any experience with DB's, Web hosting, information systems, networks, at all, if you do you will realize that even a simple 7k email/text file can eventually lead to insufficient data space. And if that happens to you at work (you may have been asked by your friendly sys admin to delete your emails once in a while) your company has money and the business case to buy terabytes of space. However the lovely folks at LGW don't have as much money as a company nor do they probably have the credit. Even if you are a student, eventually files have to be cleaned out, eventually space needs to be made, I am not saying that all of these threads are going to take LGW down, but they have their cumulative affect and to ignore that is ignorance in it's truest form. Dude if you think there are not that many feds threads it is because you are only reading the topic, for instance, the whose Jersey will get retired thread, which started out harmless turned into a Feds thread after about 2 pages. Since 4/1/08 there are 10 (that I had the energy to look through) Feds threads, that is more than 1 a day! To your edit: Why can't people look for existing threads it is just as easy! BTW my new favorite phrase is Feds Threads rolls right off of the tongue!

I agree with you 100% the sammy thing was way worse, but this is going to get worse in the off season. Heaven forbid one night a Feds is UFA Sign him now thread OMG thread moves to the second page there will be 5 the next day. The only reason that this isn't as bad as it was around the trade deadline is because the wings have no viable option to get him yet.

Fine then show you care, by not overloading the boards with Feds threads, there are 3 threads about a player on another team on the first 4 pages and of them the one with the oldest new post on it is less than 2 days old. BTW I had the same stance when it was 47 Sammy threads on the first 3 pages, or when it was 52 Neidermayer threads on the first 2 pages, or the numerous Teemu threads, or the numerous so and so fought last night thread. OH but wait there is a very interesting topic, all of those fight threads are now gone, or so it would seem, the guys who want to talk about fights every day started their very own, fight thread, and if it weren't for the post season all 29 pages of that thread would probably still be on the front page. But hey I mean why start a thread about a topic you would talk about all season or all month if you can start 45 of them right? *My numbers on thread count are exaggerated!

Here is a question, it is as easy to search the forum for a thread about Feds (or anything else you want) as it is to ignore a thread. Well I guess technically typing the 7 letters of his name may be a little easier than reading a title and deciding if the topic is sarcastic or not, if the thread is actually about the topic (especially around here). And you know what on the technical side of things it probably takes a hell of a lot less space on a DB if said person were to add 50 posts in an old thread than what it takes DB side and Resource side to create a new thread. But I mean it is not like 75% of the people who use this board care or they would donate to help out, they just expect it to be up when they want, it to work fast, the pop ups to go away, the colors to be softer on their eyes. But you are right, it is nothing just a message board, it is not like there are people who are actually working (in their spare time mind you) on it to keep it running and to keep it up daily. You obviously haven't hosted a web site before, let alone a discussion board. Edit: when I re-read that it sounded like I help out here, I don't, well besides a very small donation, I have run other websites and discussion boards.

You are right there is no question about what Downey can and can't do, he can fight, he can hit. That is about all did I miss something? The only one of those two things Mac has yet to show he can do is fight, and as I have said before this is not the series that a fighter will be needed. So therefore the one thing we know Downey is proficient at is really not necessary in this series, at this juncture. So why not start Mac game one, if he shows nothing, or Nashville proves that Downey needs to be in the line up, than he is in. Aaron Downey will not play many games if any in the post season, the sooner people come to terms with that the better. He wasn't good enough (skill wise not fighting) to log more that 6-7 minutes a game, even when the team was short 4-5 forwards, what on earth makes any of you think his skill will help in the post season. Fights in the playoffs happen a lot less often. The only time they happen is when a completely atrocious act happens. I admit Downey played his role great in the regular season, however in the post season there is less room for his skill set and role.

His offense has been picking up, how? when? where? did you mean he is beginning to smell offensive? But you are right the Ducks choose that style and the wings don't so why is it that you expect the wings to do something different than they have the last 15 years. There is no need to start Downey against Nashville, as it is right now, Tootoo may do something stupid, but for christ's sake cheli could destroy Tootoo, s*** I bet in a fair (never going to happen with Tootoo) fight Z could take him! SJ, ANA, CAL, those are different teams with a lot of physical play and some guys who can throw, then I see a need for a guy of Downey's ilk, and I personally don't think Mac has the ability to play that way anymore. But if he goes out and plays his normal solid game and then beats Tootoo or some one else in a fight you can say goodbye to Downey for these playoffs and next year. Not because Mac is a better fighter, but because he has the element of history. The fans will feed off of a D-mac fight a hell of a lot more than Downey, and if the Joe really starts rocking from a D-mac fight I bet the wings feel the energy. That will make Babs think twice about Downey. Again at this stage in their careers Downey is the guy I want fighting and D-mac is the guy I want grinding, in the post season the grinder provides more benefit to your team , than the guy who barely plays 4 mins a night and is there in case something happens, instead of a guy out there to make a difference playing D and working in the corners.

GS&T I disagree with you only because the fact of the matter is that no one posts in other forums than the General one because no one really reads the others. Think water cooler! My biggest problem isn't that people post about Feds, fine, but keep it to 3-4 threads a month, not 2-3 a day. This board has this funny little feature called search, some may know the term to google something, this is the same thing. If some one were to type Fedorov, Federov, Feds, Segei Fedorov, sergei federov, or any other combination or his name, correctly spelled or incorrectly they would fine many threads about him. And then, hold on this is the best part, if they post in the old thread miraculously the thread goes back to the front page and to the top of the list. That has been my contention, that people are too lazy (and suck ) to look for a thread. But see what they don't understand is the Database behind this board, every new thread takes up a more space than simply putting a new post in an old thread. But who cares right, oh until the board is slow and then they ***** that the site is slow.

Not to jump in here I don't think he is a liability beyond the fact he doesn't score or create offense. BUT to you saying he hasn't taken penalties at a bad time, didn't he just start a fight and cost Z a breakaway? And your argument that Ana has more fighters and plays them more is in fact a product of the start of that statement. On their roster they have 4 enforcers/fighters, that started all season. Are they supposed to call up Bobby Ryan and the rest of the Portland Pirates to play in the post season, no they dance with who got them there, for them that means most of their fighters play and a guy like Parros sees 5 games of the post season in which they won more than 3x the amount of games he played. They are the exception to the rule, they have so many guys that fight (as well as do other things) that they have to play the enforcers, you make it out like they choose to dress the enforcers!

Are you serious, one of the best defensive forwards to lace up his skates for the Red Wings and you think he is no better on the ice than Aaron Downey? You lose all credibility to that post instantly. Hopefully you were being sarcastic or you meant another player! It is very easy to not be a - player when all you see is 4 minutes of ice time!

Good point, and those people screaming for Downey in the Post season better prepare for a sore throat. The only way this guys sees playoff ice is injuries, or if in one game Babs thinks that the other team is playing cheap and Mac won't step up. Downey's play with the team in the post season will not include a ton of minutes. Think about this, he played barely 6 minutes in games that had little to no meaning, do you really think that shows a ton of confidence in him? I have a new found appreciation for Aaron Downey, at the start of the year I thought this was a wasted transaction, as I have seen him stick up for guys, and guys respond to him, I even stated on here that I think I was wrong. However I would be very very surprised to see him get minutes in the post season. Guys who only fight usually don't see a lot of ice in the post season. And as we know, Downey is not going to light it up in the playoffs, could he score a goal sure, will he, I doubt it.

Not to dog on Hartigan, but can't Drake play center? I haven't seen a ton of Hartigan but he doesn't seem to be firing on all cylinders when I have seen him. Where as Abdelkader has had a decent couple of games lately (I haven't seen them only heard about it on here). Now I am not saying OMGDFJKAHJKSHD Abdelkader is the bestest everest, but if he is physical and in playing well why not give him the shot, especially game one. I have a feeling after game one, Hartigan will probably be sitting for Downey. I have a feeling Nashville knows they can only beat det if they rough them up. Then Babs will send out DMD Drake, Mac, Downey and let them know that will not be tolerated!!

Those of us that defend him (against people saying he sucks) are defending just that. The fact that he is a decent player, he is not a great player, but he is not worthless, like most people on here say. If you read most of the posts about him a majority of people on here act as though he is the worst player in the league, hell he isn't event he worst player on his own team. NO he is not Dats and Z, that is the point that most of us defenders are trying to make, he is not an all world player, and people need to have those expectations of him. He must be a marginal player I mean what kind of player only puts up these numbers 73gp 11g 29a 40pts 21+/- 26pims 3ppg 8ppa in 16 minutes of ice time. 5th in pts by fwd 7th in pts by skater 5th in asts 7th in +/- 5th pp a I mean s*** that is only good enough for 5th best forward (pts) on the best team in hockey, seventh best skater on the on the best team in hockey. Yeah he is a marginal player that should be playing on the fourth line or be a black ace. Hmm maybe those "wasted" shots from the point actually work and get him assists, oh but wait it doesn't matter for the same reason that Dats was "struggling" to start the year, because assists are not good enough. And before you start to credit D or Z for his points he spent most of the year bouncing around line to line with different linemates all of the time. And I can think of so many times when he is on the pp point and his sloppy play leads to a shortie by the other team, oh wait I can't even think of one. I will admit he is a marginal player the day some of these posters admit he is a great player. Because me saying a decent player is a marginal player is like them saying a suckbag is a great player. THE GUY PLAYS A ROLE ON THIS TEAM!!! Role players do their job and help the team succeed, seeing as he played a role all year and this team is the most successful team in the regular season, I would say he did his job very well. I am not saying lets vote him on the All star team, but most people on here act like the wings win in spite of him, when in actuality he helps them win. Edit: for those who don't want to read my diatribe: If sammy is marginal, this team is in deep deep trouble, because that means the team has at least 5 players that play almost every game that are worse than marginal!!
