I love this place: Holland sucks he did nothing to make the team better seems to be a popular mantra around here. Yet these were the same people who ***** insistently about Sammy being on the 2nd pp point. Guess what people, STUART DOES THAT!!!!!! IF the Wings win this year it would be almost as gratifying as the first Sox series win in 04, all the band wagoners and fair weather fans will make this so much sweeter!!!!
-
It was also said that some players did not want him back, not sure how true. I think the biggest obstacle was the fact that both teams are in the central division.
-
That photo gets me everytime!!!!

Give me a legit situation from yesterday were Holland had a shot, just a shot at getting a legit secondary scorer. Feds, wasn't going to end up in Det via the trade wire, maybe Free agency but with reports players didn't want him, I doubt it. Hossa, not secondary scoring, this man is a first liner, and Det was not matching Pit offer. Forsberg, already said he wasn't going to Det Lapointe, Chi was not trading with a central Division rival. Richards, not for what Dallas gave up, Det was not giving them Howard. Other forwards traded: Simon, Bochenski, Segal, Hlavac, Hossa (Marcel), Kilger, Motzko, Dupuis, Pettinger, Ruutu Come on seriously, where is all of the second line scoring going to come from in this group?
-
You smell that, smells like somebody died!!!!!

As said by others in many other pages and pages of trade talks, Mon were buyers not sellers the only reason Ryder was even being talked about was to get Hossa, kind of like Flip, the only way they would have traded him was if something really special was coming back. Because you are willing to trade doesn't make you a seller, because Mon was willing to part with him for Hossa what makes some of you think they would part with him Sammy and a third?

Considering the amount of posting going on today, I would say the site held up. It got sluggish at times but not for very long periods of time.

First time I watch the Yahoo feed, not too bad little fuzzy but I have it on a s***ty monitor

Are you a poet, that was perfectly said!

To back up the Stuart>Markov post: Stuart easily got 3.5 to play, no one in the NHL, no one, would pay Markov the 4 he wanted. I will take Stuart, I saw a good amount of him in Boston after the nightmare trade. He is responsible in his own zone hits, not saying he is my dream for the 2nd pp over Sammy but I am pretty sure he played it in Boston. Nothing overly great about the guy offensively, but he is also a good defensive player and will add a little bit of a mean streak. I am surprised people don't seem happy about this, or is it just that they are so unhappy about the Hossa thing.

The next 6 weeks or so are going to be huge for the Wings D next year. The Org will get a good look at these guys competing for a job, plus they have had a chance to see the youth in the system play some serious minutes. And they get to see what they will look like *gulp* without Lids. Did that hurt to read as much as it hurt to type? Eriscson showed promise, Meech and Quincey have been given chances to shine, Lilja and Lebda are no longer guaranteed a spot, they will be in competition, Stuart is a free agent so isn't Lilja. This next 6 weeks mean a lot for this D next year!!

I root for the guys wearing the winged wheel, regardless if I love them as people or players, or if I loathed them before the wheel was put on their chest. I root for the team to win the cup every year and if they lose, I hate it, but I don't hate them!!!

I am sorry was Satan traded for a prospect and a pick, if so who was he traded to. Because if I am misremembering (Clemens reference) he wasn't traded, therefore if he wasn't traded for a prospect and a pick how do you know he could have been had for a prospect and a pick. Plus for the 87000000th time Feds was not going to get traded to a central division rival that is not only the best team in their division but the best in the league. Now if I am wrong about Satan sorry, but I cannot find where he was traded for a prospect and a pick so therefore I do not buy your argument that he was available for that!

Best post of the day!!

Yeah but markov/Schneids left which I think was your point. My point is that Holland signed Rafalski and Stuart not that their pairing is better, he BROUGH THEM TO THE ROSTER!!!!!!!!!
-
umm shanahanman, just so that you know, and so you can keep any credibility you should change Markov/Schnieder > stuart to Markov/ Schneider < rafalski and Stuart But that is just me! You people amuse me, you say Holland hasn't done s*** in forever, well except the number 2 d-man (stat wise) in the league, but Rafalski is chopped liver.
-
How do any of us know what Holland offered for Hossa, maybe he said flip and kindl and Atl said no, because they knew what Pit would offer. You do realize that the Sellers, not the buyers control how most trades work out. Holland makes an offer hoping that the offers he doesn't see are not better than his. Maybe Waddell like other GM's don't like dealing with Det and making them better.

Another pessimistic post by another fairweather fan.

FAIRWEATHER FAN"S opinions is like blue on black, they mean nothing!!!

Before I get into this why not try comparing a sport that has a real cap, instead of the fake one that the Sox and Yanks laugh at every year!! Pretty bold prediction considering the Red Sox have the same team with better parts (Ellsbury > Crisp), the Yankees are a pitcher or two away from being great again, The Indians are still very good, and Dontrell Willis and an overweight third baseman who will have to become a 1st baseman in 2 years aren't Huge additions. They are damn good I will give you that. Cabrera can Rake make no bones about it, but he is no Brandon Inge Defensively, but hey it is just third base a throw away position. Inge is a Dan Cleary heart and Soul kind of guy, ask the White Sox what it was like when they gave up Aaron Rowand. You can not replace those intangibles. And Cabrera is loving his money, and is overweight, third base is not where you want you version of John Kruk! The Tigers will be in a fight to win their division let alone the AL. Hell if they were in the NL I would punch their WS ticket for you now, alas they are not and have to deal with Bos, Cle, NYY, ana los a... the friggin' Angels, and Seattle got better (they won't win s*** though). Who in the hell said they are rebuilding, last year was supposed to be the rebuilding year and they were great. This year they are continuing to build the youth, in a cap era you need youth. It really isn't that hard of a concept, you try to win now, without losing the future. So the tiger's probably making the WS is close enough for you, but the wings being the best team in the NHL isn't. You confuse me, if the wings made it to the SCF last year and lost would you be saying the same thing? But you know, why don't you and Leftwinger, dabrua, go an form you own "I was a wing's fan but my fair weather fandom in me made me turn away even though they are still the #1 team in the NHL, because I wanted another player" discussion board.
-
Sweet, you and leftwinger anyone else fed up, and want to leave, go now because the bandwagon isn't coming back around to pick up fair weather fans, good riddance!!! So that we are all on the same page the following 2nd line scorers were moved today: Fedorov and Lapointe, former Wings, that were being traded form the Central division, their is no way either of those two teams help the best team in their divisions get better. Hossa, is not a 2nd line scorer. He is a first line scorer and him and a healthy Crosby will be unreal.
-
I'm sorry the 5 threads of this that existed weren't enough for you!
-
I'm sorry when was the last Tiger's WS win? And wasn't the tigers who won an astounding 119 games in 2003, oh no they lost 119. But you are right to compare the two teams, one has been the model for success in the past 15 years and one hasn't won a title since '84.

Didn't you hand in your Red Wings badge??
