Alright this has D-mac returns to the Wings, Wings V Avs first round written all over it!
-
While I would love to have any of the first 3 I would not want to have them at the expense of the players you suggest. Call me Homer, call me ignorant, but I would rather root for the guys on the team, if they get traded fine I will root for who comes in. These threads (no offense meant Hank) are why people think Wing's fans are spoiled. BTW Kingston Lucic plays for the B's and if you like young guys who can't can hit, fight, and score goals he is your man. Edited because I am an idiot!!!
-
Zatta is Swedish for Z correct?
-
I wouldn't take my word for it, but I see them letting him sit as long as they can, same with Ralf and Kronwall. At this point in time there is no need to rush them. In about 3 weeks, then there maybe some urgency.
-
I seriously doubt it.
-
In the past 2 weeks or so the only team I see maybe Dallas? they are 9 of 10, I think Anaheim is like 6 of 10 over that same time span, including a lost to Dallas. I think the return of Teemu had more to do with this than their record. I don't think the Wings should be higher than Ana but I think at least one team belongs above them.
-
I thought so but I haven't seen a clean replay where you could see if it was one of those guys with a huge tape roll at the end or a guy that has no knob (on his stick) and his hands were beyond the butt end. Thanks for clearing that up, now isn't that a penalty?
-
Honestly it looked like he had a hard time getting one of his gloves off, the right one which is his dominant hand looked like it hung up for a second.

I was referring to the stick swinging McSorley did. I guess I was too vague!
-
Maybe he taught McSorely every thing he knows!!

"I dont want Lilja tonight, I want the Pain Train!"
Opie replied to Detroit # 1 Fan's topic in General
Yes, right now that is exactly what a team already playing AHLers at the blueline needs. One of the only guys with NHL experience should risk hurting himself so that the wings can be down another player on the blueline. -
I didn't think the hit was illegal at all, it was a clean hard hit, the point of Downey is to plant a seed of doubt in a player's mind the next time they have a guy lined up. Do I want to get punched in the face over this hit, or am I better served to poke the puck or make a lesser hit. Which is why the argument that Downey would deter Tootoo or any one like that not do it again. They don't care, but a guy like Lappy may (doubt it) think twice next time, or at least the rest of the game.
-
Getting involved I have no problem with, but yelling at the other head coach, that to me is not knowing your role.
-
Grittzkey, I wouldn't say they were running players all night after the 3-0 goal it looked like the wings were in control of the game, and I would almost say that Downey beating on Lappy is what started the decline in running players. Because before that they were running everyone over. Also Draper running at whoever hit maltby was great. Was Flip hit with a butt end of the stick in the face or was that just the hand?
-
My question is what kind of control does Quenville have when his assistant goes off on the other head coach. He just sat there saying and doing nothing. Is he a lame duck head coach, or does he just let his assistants make asses of themselves and indirectly he and his team. Tony, there is a pecking order to things, and you my friend are near the bottom!!

I assume you are talking to me, internet tough guy!! First off, no one asked you! Secondly, hiding behind the guise of internet tough guy just shows you to be the jerk you are. I never said Downey was A) useless, B) that fighting was not necessary in the NHL. What I did say way back in the pre season was that Downey was not what the team needed. They need an enforcer, a physical full time player not a part timer who can average 4 minutes a game. (Lucic to name one) I understand those guys are few and far between, but they are out there, and if this team wants to get tougher what good would do them to have a guy who is either in the press box, or holding onto 4 minutes on the bench and the coach has to find a time to put him on the ice that wont cost the team the game. But you go back to jumping to conclusions, just watch the landing it is a long fall down when you miss!

I think the wings will offer cleary around 2.5, J-Ho, cheli will probably receive the same offer, Lilja will get a small raise, and flip will probably be just under 2 mil.
-
The one I think is weird is the NCAA one, how could they possibly limit the NCAA players and not the junior players. Wouldn't that prevent players from going to the NCAA if they thought they had a shot?
-
Not sure but I believe it is the russian equivalent of the nickname for Pavel, like Mike for Michael!
-
Ummm, I was probably the biggest Downey hater (still not a huge fan but he does his job) on this board, so what is your point?
-
I know it doesn't mean too much from some random poster you have never met but: My condolences!
-
I love the quote that has been on here about Fair Justice!! As much as I was against Downey in the beginning, last night he did exactly what was needed of him!!!!!
-
100% in agreement, Jose did what he could, he was an island out there, and with Dats and Z looking to torch you with a big fat red homer ass in your face, you will eventually get taken advantage of, ESPECIALLY if your D-men are going to lose their assignments inside the dots! But I love the adjustment that Z made on his path to the net, great pass by Dats. Hard to see if it was a look away or not, I couldn't see where Dats was looking. But everyone went to Meech, of all people, and Z needed one move to look at nothing but twine and net cam!!!

I would have made the same defense of the other "Lucky" goalie. I am tired of the theory around here that goalies aren't good because of the team in front of them. In order to get to this level they have to be good, and I guarantee you that some of the "Lucky saves" Dom and Ozzie made go in on J-HO. And I am a huge J-Ho fan. But he doesn't have the experience and the skill that these two have. But you know what, some people on this board will always root against some Red Wing or another, for some reason rooting for a team and it's players is a lot more difficult for some than others!

I am not trying to start a flame war or call you out (if you don't take it that way great, but some here are sensitive): Had one of you teachers ever told you that when you are taking a True or False test if things are written as absolute truths they are usually False. Statements like "Always sucks". So when you say that Lebda adds nothing but his skating ability I call that false. He passes out of the zone, he covers his zone, makes smart decisions with the puck, joins the rush at the right time (ask Schneids how important that is), he plays solid D. He may not being doing things to your liking, but your expectations have nothing to do with the NHL and the players that are on the teams. This is a second year player, playing on a team that is stacked and he is LEARNING how to play at an NHL level. If you expect him to jump on the ice and in the first year or two be playing like an all star with 6 man minutes you have set unattainable goals. No one player loses a game, just like no one player wins a game. Last night was a team win, from Downey to Zetterberg Team win! Lebda is not Dion Phanuef, nor is he Brian Campbell so don't expect him to be. Since Lilja is such a turnover machine he must have a horrible +/- right, 0 not bad but lets look at that a bit closer, lets see what it was before the 6 game skid +5 not bad, but for this team not great, but far from say Rob Blake's +/-. Well if he is a turnover machine surely his coach (seeing as Babs is pretty good at sending a message with minutes, see: hudler) will reduce his minutes. Well he averages about 18 minutes a games, in the last 10 he has 2 games of under 18 and 8 games of 19:52 or more. I am not sure what you see in their games that turns your stomach so much. Again I ask this question out of curiousity: I understand not liking someone on the team you root for, I know there are wings I don't like on the current roster, but it seems like you and others root against these players? Why? Some posters take every chance they can get to bash Red Wings players. But why root against them? I am not saying lets have a hand holding everyone agrees board like most people I ask this question come back with for a defense, but talk logically about the issues this team has, why trash players, why start threads just to berate players from the team you root for? Is a thread about trading a player for a hamburger really rooting for your team?
