Dennis Miller belongs back on HBO where a select audience that likes his style will pay for him to be on TV. He doesn't know a lot about sports and uses big words to confuse people to think he is making sense. His long winded stories about weird unrelated topics and big $.50 words are all a disguise to cover up his lack of knowledge. He was a part of one of the worst football announcer teams ever! It was funny to watch him read all of his questions to Scotty because he knew he had a great hockey mind on his stage and he couldn't bull s*** his knowledge. BTW I love Tony, Jaws, and Tirico on MNF!!!

Ozzie has proven that time off will not alter his game, I am not sure if it is his practice methods, work ethic, natural ability or what, but he doesn't slow down. I think this is Babcock seeing what Hasek has, can he do it twogames in a row. I can almost guarantee that babs had a chat with Ozzie and all three are aware of what is going on and what is to be expected based on the results. Hasek needs a chance to prove he can play, Ozzie will be fine, and hasn't "lost" his job, remember in pro sports you don't lose you job based on injury unless it is a situation like Brady/Bledsoe. Where the "new" guy is completely out performing the other guy. I think you will see a 50/50 split most of the rest of the way, unless Hasek falls flat or is injured again.

If he gets a start that will be the 4th goalie in 26 games, ouch. Around here (just outside of Boston) Fernandez was seriously compared to the acquisition of Kevin Garnett. Seriously not s***ting you, people were talking about him like he was the second coming of Andy Moog or Reggie Lemlin. He goes down, they play Thomas who has been a savior for them the past couple years as they dealt with Toivonen and Raycroft. They have Rask but he is an unknown entity (but the people around here love him, with good reason), and now you have Alex Auld who like Thomas, Fernandez, and Rask (hasn't had a chance yet) has never really proven to be a number one NHL goaltender. And we think the Det goalie situation is bad!

This is the background on one of my work computers and all 3 personal computers, well done guys keep up the good work!!!

The thing about this is that 3-4 years ago none of us, none, thought Holmstrom would be the offensive player he is. Hudler has more raw talent than Homer, if he has half of Homer's work ethic he should be a very good top 6 forward. Especially if he is allowed to develop some chemistry with Flip and/or Dats, Zatta, Franzen, Cleary, Sammy (like homer did with Dats and Zatta). He won't be a huge cap hit, and that is what is the best part about him. By the time he really develops he will be midway through a 4-5 year deal hopefully. With the salary cap in place the wings can't afford to give up the future for a potential cup now. Especially when as the roster is right now they are the best team in the league with a major guy (Draper) on the shelf. Plus you then have to figure in that not only will they have to replace Sundin next year, they will have to replace the guys they traded to get him. Plus sign Zatta at some point in time next season. For the price right now, Sundin is too expensive, IMO!

That's because the moment a player speaks his mind the media is all over it trying to create controversies that don't exist. If he said, well it really comes down to Dom needs to make saves and the D needs to help clear the crease, every sports website will put an article out that says "Datsyuk feuding with goalie and D-men" or something like that. So in order to avoid team controversy and putting up bulletin board material for the other team you get, "We need to play 100% on every shift" or the new favorite "We have things we can get better at, we know we are not perfect." It is the nature of the new media world, with so many new outlets for reporters they are all making up stories because their website needs a story every day or what ever, lots of times most of the things we read are so blown out of proportion it isn't even funny!

Son, we live in a world that has boards, and those boards have to be guarded by men with gloves and sticks. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? Crawford has a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Moore, and you curse the Canucks. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what Crawford knows. That Moore's injury, while tragic, probably saved lives. And Crawford's existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want Crawford on those boards, you need him on those boards. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. Crawford has neither the time nor the inclination to explain himself to a man who rises and sleeps under the enjoyment of the very game that he provides, and then questions the manner in which he provides it. Crawford would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, He suggests you pick up a stick, and stand a post. Either way, Crawford doesn't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

I don't think he has bewitched powers but he is the Commish, just like Bush is the Pres. Not everything is completely under their control but they put the people in place to do these jobs, they are the ones who are "the leader" and take the responsibility. The people underneath them listen to and follow their initiatives. If Bettman sat down with the PA and the BOG and said "Hey we need to do something about these dirty hits, who is in favor of voting out my the instigator rule." that the BOG and PA would say, nah that has nothing to do with it. He is the Commissioner, he gets the credit for good stuff that happens, he gets s*** on for the dumb s*** that happens. Nature of the beast.

OR THEY COULD GET RID OF THE STUPID F*@$ING INSTIGATOR RULE! Sorry to yell but this is really starting to get on my nerves. While the end result of Bert's actions were way worse (pending the return of Bergeron) his hits were no worse than Downie, Boulerice, Cote, Hartnell. The funny thing is the worst hit as far as injuries go, the jones hit was the closest to a clean hit. He should have let up, or used a jab check on Bergeron, but he was to aggressive and had a guy back to. The rest were down right dirty and done with intent to injure. Yet, they pay little to no consequences? Why because Bettman is a tool, Lucic was out of the line up, and because if Murray (or Chara) retaliates and defends his teammate and tries to take on Hartnell, A- he would get smoked, B- he would be gone for 17 minutes. I think the league can leave the extra two for being a third man in, but get rid of the 10 minute misconduct for instigator. Because if you ask me the guy who made the dirty play started everything he should be the one to get the instigator. But what do I know I just like to watch fast paced hockey and a nice fight once and a while. I like clean hockey with hard hits, not dirty hockey with cheap hits.

I am not sure that beating a bad Florida team by one and allowing 4 goals is reason to let out a sigh of relief, but as a wise man once said a win is a win is a win!
-
I was very surprised to see him not ask any questions about Detroit or Pitt, he just wanted to talk about Sid and Gretz.
-
I am not able to watch their games unless the play the B's, is it goaltending, lack of scoring, all of the above?
-
I wonder the reception he will get the first time he hits the ice in an away barn!!! I can not believe that this guy is back on the ice already.
-
Another one counts face offs won. They were setup by friends so I didn't get too picky about what stats were included I just joined to help fill out the teams.

I have Dats, Homer, Lids, and Ralf on my fantasy team and I am hoping that they continue to get more numbers as the season goes on. And seeing as shots count as points SHOOT DATS SHOOT!!!!

If Teemu does come back that would be why Ilya was waived, Neids is already under contract and his contract doesn't put them over the cap. Especially considering that it will be less than a full years salary. The key to this team as I have said all along is Teemu, if he comes back he frees up space on the ice for Macdonald, Getzlaf, Perry, etc, etc. Teemu changes this team in many many ways, that is unless he is not in game shape. Which if he does come back, I pray he is not!!

I didn't watch the game but was able to catch some highlights, did they break him and Z up on the PP or were a couple of those rushes mid line change. He seemed to be on the ice with Huds a lot in the highlights? Any Help?

Even though the Habs got a decent scoring opportunity off of the 3-1, I thought Lebda played it very well. He forced the puck carrier into carrying the puck down the boards and made him make a difficult pass. And to top it he helped clear the zone. He is not a norris trophy candidate but he is a very stable defenseman!

Well the one upside here is that this is not a bring back an old red wing thread, but nonetheless I say no to Recchi!
-
Some other interesting Red Wing offensive numbers Team stats NHL Rank Goals -- 88 -- 2 * Assists -- 158 -- 1 GFA -- 3.25 -- 1 GA -- 63 -- 6 GAA -- 2.31 -- T-5 Goal Dif -- +25 -- 1 * Wins -- 18 -- 1 Loses -- 6 -- 1 Or 32nd depending how you look at it either way they have the least amount of losses in the NHL. There are 9 players with 11+ points so far this year and Flip has 9 and is on the verge of double digits. There are 5 players on the team that have a - +/- rating. The guy starting between the pipes has the best GAA and 6th best SV%, oh and he is 13-1-1. *one site said the wings had 85, another said 86, NHL.com has 88, so depending on what site you use, the diff could be 22,23,24. or 25
