I think it is to see where Hasek is and what he can do this year. If it looks like he can be last years dominator than he will get the play. If he continues to look good but not great you will probably see a lot more Osgood. I think 6 games in is a little quick to judge a guy who is a notoriously slow starter, yet usually finishes henomenally (when healthy).

Alright let me try to understand why you want to get rid of the 8th leading scorer on the team last year (whihc btw is more than one game). Then you want to add another grit guy, and keep Downey. So that means the following four people will be in your starting roster: Drake, Downey, Maltby and PFT (Player Traded For). I do understand this much, Sammy will not garner a lot for trade, so at best you get rid of him and aquire another him in return, but is more gritty and probably scores less. I have an idea the wings should trade the all of the forward except DZH, for gritty forwards. That way they have one scoring line, no secondary scoring but the scrappiest, grittiest, toughest team to ever miss the playoffs. I am not a Sammy lover, but more a realist. A. What are you going to get for Sammy? B. It takes more than just luck and being in the right place at the right time to score in the NHL ask Downey. C. Robert Lang looks real lazy and sucky on the Blackhawks doesn't he. If Sammy is the second coming of Lang then the wings will be great this year, because that means Sammy will get 60+ points!! SWEET!!!! D. I hate when a guy is getting 3rd line minutes, plays the point for a team on the PP, and all he has to show for it is 1 goal and 3 assists in the first 5 games of the season. Trade him now for GRIT!!!!!!

I could see that, with the back issues I am sure Babs will keep an eye on Z and let him rest when he needs to. Plus if the two are playing together a lot they will factor in on each others goals, much like last night where all 3 on the line had a goal and assisted on the other's goals. Dats will probably play more, again as a precaution to keep Z healthy, and he will probably get more points as a result. On a side note, how funny was it to see a Dats check as one of the selected clips in the NHL highlight!!!!!

So after Downey plays one game you are willing to give him a nightly starting role and trade away the teams 8th leading scorer last year and a guy who has 4 points in 5 games, because Downey showed you what exactly????? Do Datsyuk or Zetterberg score on every shot? Do they play perfect, flawless, error free games every night? No neither does Lids, these guys are elite players in the league, Samuelsson is a role player. One who plays very well. He may not be the second coming of Jari Kurri but he plays his role very well and does what the team needs of him. But then again I guess in 1 game (3:41 BTW) Downey was a beast out there and Sammy should be sent packing. These boards kill me, if a guy doesn't go out and score every shift he is worthless!

Exactly, they are fast approaching the start or the negotiation period for RFA's but he is still under contract through next season.

Is ozzie's contract up after this season? If so they need to sign him to a 1 or 2 year deal so he can be a mentor/back-up to J-Ho next year.

The more I have read on this guy's past the more I think he should have received a 41 game suspension. Half the year and the next time he does it one full season, if he is still dumb enough to try this again, game over, career, goodbye do not past go on your way out the door!!!

See the thing is with that philosophy, the young guys don't get the in game experience with him. He can talk to them all he wants at practice but the young guys do so well on the ice with him. Plus he covers up for a lot of their mistakes. However having said that: I personally would rather see Lids and Lebda, Ralf and Cheli, Kron and Lilja.

Not only was Sundin's prime better, his career will be far above that of Naslund, you are trying to compare a future HOFer in Sundin to a decent player in this era in Naslund. It is too bad that Sundin is loyal to a fault, he should walk away from the Leafs and find his cup. Like Bourque did! I am usually a huge advocate for guys spending their career with the same team, however, if the team does nothing to build a winner around you and you have given them heart and soul, it is time to walk. If the wings had done the same to Yzerman or Lidstrom I would sadly have to say the same thing, thankfully the team has built a winner around those two!

He deserves at least as much time as Downie if not more, he has done this before. In the AHL I believe a couple of years ago he re-arranged a guys face with a Chris Simon type stick swing! NO INTENT TO INJURE!!! WTF What exactly is your intent when you thrust your stick into another players face, are you trying to start a tickle fight.
