Is it Hoodlum's time to shine?

Hey and I would be happy to have Brian Gionta on this team too, he is a very solid NHL player. He may not tear the league up but if Huds ends up being like Gionta I would be pleasantly surprised. Now if he turns out to be like Martin St. Louis I would be ecstatic. Not every prospect can be Datsyuk or Zetterberg.

    Pierre Turgeon Done

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=Aijp...p&type=lgns Apparently he just doesn't think he has anything to add anymore. He was a good player and had a 19 year career. So long Pierre!

Nabby handing that puck to Dats sort of helped a lot too!!!

    Holland confirms three camp tryouts

That is the best place to put the weakest defender. Lids can make up for a lot of things. Scotty used to do it all of the time in the reg season. Kuznetsov I believe played with lids. Kronwall was his partner for a while too. It is not like saying Sopel is a top or 2 d-man he is there because it is the best fit for him. I would rather see Lebda or Kronner there and let them learn from the master. However it wouldn't surprise me to see Sopel on that pairing.

Ducks schedule PC for 1:30p THU

I was reading the Hockey News and The NHL Yearbook on a plane ride this weekend, and I read that no matter what decision Neidermayer makes the Ducks have to eat his salary this year. Apparently the same thing happened with Vladimir Malakhov. I don't have the mags with me at work and can't quote which one it was exactly but I will before the end of the day. If this is true the Ducks are screwed if he retires!!!

I had said Those type of players not those players. Because we won't know who he goes up against until after this season. For all we Know on his first Ballot Teemu and Scott Neidermayer could be two of the names he is against.

Sopel and another veteran d-man coming to camp

So lets say he grabs Sopel or another vet D for 1-1.5mil for one year, that leaves the wings with 3.5-4mil before the cap. Does that make the wings the best D in the league. I think he is better than what the team has now, but I would love to see some of the young guys get a shot. That is my only area of contention with this. That is a lot of money for a rent-a-player at the deadline.

    Q&A with Kenny

Apparently if a Ref thinks that an interferrence penalty was done with the intent to injure he can issue a 5 minute major. I hate interpretation rules BTW!!

Sopel and another veteran d-man coming to camp

I think I would rather see the young guys develop than see Sopel here, unless he signed a two way, but I don't think he can, right he is too old?

    Net gains

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&a...rticleid=336791 Check it out! Around the Central Division Datsyuk Red Wings -- The buzz at informal workouts in Detroit leading up to training camp has led a lot of the veterans to stop and gaze at the skills of 24-year-old winger Igor Grigorenko. The Red Wings spent a second-round draft choice on this prospect in 2001, when he had been playing on a high-scoring line in the Russian junior program with Pavel Datsyuk and Ilya Kovalchuk. The Wings gushed every time they talked about Grigorenko, even after he sustained a broken femur and a fractured tibia in his left leg and wound up on a ventilator following an embolism on his left lung in a near-fatal car crash in May of 2003. Four years later, he has finally returned to some of the form that distinguished him as an even stronger prospect than Datsyuk. The injuries have cost him a step of speed, but the hands are still magical and accounted for 13 goals in his final 30 games in the Russian Super League last season. Optimists in Detroit hope he can sparkle on a line with Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom. Knowing the Wings’ success at bringing along young, European and Communist bloc players, this story is likely to deserve a peek at Grigorenko by more than just Detroit fans.

I will never forget that season, I was telling everyone he was back for good and that he was going to tear the league a new one. I guess we all know how that worked out for me!

    Wings Tix for $9?

For the record I am not against him coming here for anyother reason other than it would mean the loss of Zetterberg because the team couldn't afford both. I was making comments about the state of our legal system.

The hip injury was all related to Ulf's hit, so he says.

I am a huge fan of Cam but he got in on what he could have done, what his potential was, to me that is not right. That would be like if Crosby got a huge knee injury this year and people voted him in because he could have broken Gretz's records.

    Wings Tix for $9?

The legal system in this country looks at vehicular crimes very differently then others. For instance, my cousin (18) was killed by a drunk driver while crossing the street. The driver had a license for 13 years and of that it was valid for 11 months due to drunk driving offenses. He served 4 years for killing my cousin and then was out. Only to get in another drunk driving accident and this time he only injured some one. However if you beat some one to death with your own hands 8-15 years. Is a car not a weapon. There is also a little known tidbit that if you kill someone while driving drunk it is considered Manslaughter or Assault (depending on state) because the law states that some one who is drunk could not have pre-meditated the action. Therefore it can't be murder without intent.

    Wings Tix for $9?

If the legal system put celebs behind bars like they wold you or I, half of the NFL, NBa would be in prison and there would also be no one left to make the movies we love so much. I hate the double standard of letting these "celebs" off easy because people know them. That is what created this situation where Micheal Vick, Tank Johnson, and others think they can get away with anything. Not that Heatley's was intentional like the examples I gave, but it help sets up the mindset.

    Sutter smokes Cherepanov (concussion)

I see your point, but if it was something that happened before this altercation, I still don't see the point. Unless a Russian player smoked a Canadian and Cherepanov walked up to him and started talking s***. Other than that if you didn't scramble his eggs don't ask him if he wants homefries with them. BTW when I first saw this thread I though Cherepanov was a type of Marijuanna or Crack and it gave one of the Sutter brothers a Concussion!

    Wings Tix for $9?

I would LOVE Patty Bergereon on this team. This kid is the real deal and unfortunately for him he is stuck in Boston. And if you haven't notice or don't pay attention to other sports, every team in Boston is loading up their teams for championship type seasons. Except the B's. Manny Fernandez is not going to bring Lord Stanley to Boston. They have some great young talent, but by the time they get to their potential it will either be with a different team, or on a Bruins team that has all of their money sunk into one or two players and have nothing around them. Think about the roster when Bergereon first got there Thornton, Murray, Samsonov, Rolston, Axelsson, now they have an older and not as good Murray, Bergereon, an oft injured Axelsson, and some youth. He went from being a +5 player to being a -28 in a matter of three seasons. Poor bastard!!! I have to be the biggest supporter for J-Ho getting the nod next year but Kipper is on a short list of guys I would not complain about losing J-ho for. Him and Luongo. BUT FOR CHRIST'S SAKE NO MORE RENTING A GOALIE FOR ONE OR TWO YEARS!!!!!!!!!!
  25. For some one like me looking at this from a far it is kind of funny. Look at the organization, from the Hockey stand point there is none better than the wings. Then look at how they do with things like tix, food, and other fan related things and it looks like they are one of the worst in the league.
