We lifted off from the ground. I felt that the plane would fall and we would all crash. When the plane hit on the ground everything smashed and I hit against something. The entire right-side was broken," Alexander Sizov says.

    No NHL for European fans

@Norwegian Red Wing... If you have an LCD or LED TV you can connect a computer to it like you would a Monitor. If you have a plasma you could do the same but you run the risk of speeding up the depletion of your tv. And it is not recommended by "Experts", which is why rarely do you see PC video inputs on Plasma TVs. My Desktop PC actually has an HDMI out put as well as VGA and DVI. If you want any help as to what you would need to set it up, PM me, or I am sure you know lots of people with computer skill that could help (or maybe you already know all this and I am wasting my time). When I watch the Wings through hockey streams (I really enjoy their service, but some here have an ethical objection to using them) I hook my laptop up to my TV and watch it on my 32" LED. Not huge by any means but better than my 15" monitor. Usually Hockey Streams has an HD feed and I use that one to watch.

    Bouchard suspended 2 games

Short Version: Unfortunate or not the ending is what is always judged, intention behind a trip is never factored into the punishment, just the end result. Not sure why this should be any different. Really long winded Version: He intentionally swung at him and hit him in the face(this was the unintended part and why he only got 2 games IMO), which is very different from intentionally hitting some one in the face. (Think Chris Simon, then I think the suspension should be 20 - 30 games for a guy like Bouchard) However in this current culture of worrying about hitting players in the head with anything, the players who high stick in the course of the play of the game should only get the 4 min, but if you swing at a guy while uninvolved in the play (again landing on the face or head, not thigh or arm), there needs to be stiffer penalties. Just to be a deterrent. But in this case Bouchard was not involved in the normal course of the game. Like I mentioned in my first post, if a player is trying to make a hockey play and high sticks some one, than fine 4 minutes and nothing more. In situations like this, the league must be pro-active, Bouchard carelessly swung his stick, the end result was he hit him in the face. I also said that if Bouchard got nothing but the 4 and a tersely worded letter, I would have been ok with it. But the fact is that Bouchard intentionally slashed a player, and that slash was in his face, stick work is a part of the game, but a slash to the face is not. Again, the refs don't say "Oh well he was trying to lift his stick to get the puck, missed, and hit player x in the face, so no penalty on the play because it was unintentional" The player gets a penalty based on the end result of the play always, if a high stick or trip was done in an attempt to get the puck that changes nothing. The end result was a high stick or a trip, penalty simple as that. So when a player does purposely slash a player, you think it should be the same penalty as when a guy is trying to lift a stick and misses? If so, fine that is your opinion in this case with the player being a very sportsman like player who has no history of these types of actions, I could agree with you. The problem I have is where do you draw the line, what makes it a suspend-able offense? The player, well then you have the "Colin Campbell Conundrum"© of how do you become a repeat offender if you need to be a repeat offender to be considered an offender? Do you look at how violent or intentional the act? Well how is that determined? By no means am I saying my thoughts are the right thoughts, just my opinion on why I am a huge fan or what the league and Shanny are doing. Players have lost respect for each other, and until they start displaying it across the board, I think the league needs to err on the side of caution. I also believe if they forced players to wear softer pads, a lot of the hits you were talking about being taken out of the game would not have such severe end results. I think the NHL needs to take a long hard look at pads, more so than re-alignment.

    Bouchard suspended 2 games

How on earth is this an example of a clean hit, he slashed/high sticked a guy in the mouth???? Suspensions are supposed to be deterrents, they are supposed to make you think before you swing your stick. If he meant to hit him in the hand or thigh, it doesn't matter, he hit him in the face. They don't recall penalties because the guy didn't mean to high stick another player. Think about the times a guy gets high sticked because a player is trying to move out of the zone and brings their stick up over their shoulder. Intentional or not it was careless. What Bouchard did was not careless or an unfortunate series of events, he high sticked the guy on purpose. Right in the face, with the puck no where near them. Shanny is sending a message, be careful with both your stick and your body, the head is a place the league is being very protective of. I would have understood if Shanny said no suspension because he was not a repeat offender, however I also have zero problem with 2 games. For those of you saying this shouldn't be a suspension, where do you draw the line between this and a McSorley/Simon stick to the head? Do you put devices on the stick to measure speed of the stick during the hit? Do you start taping the game with high speed film and have mythbusters figure out the speed? OR... Do you suspend for any stick swung intentionally that lands on the head or face?

    The Official NHL Suspension Thread

Just a couple of points on topic: 1. I think Wiz got 8 games because Shanny wanted him to miss regular season games, so he gets a few preseason added to the tally, plus he is a repeat offender. (Very key phrase in these rulings apparently. 2. We haven't seen him explain why a hit wasn't suspension worthy yet. I think until that point we have to reserve judgement saying all big hits will be taken out of the game.

    The Official NHL Suspension Thread

I LOVE THE SHANNY VIDEO!!! Are you serious, how is it that the NFL hasn't started this, how is it that the lowly (in national media sense) NHL is on the cutting edge of this s***. Shanny and the NHL are setting a precedence that I can almost guarantee will be in every league (maybe not MLB as they refuse to adapt or change from the legacy of the game) by the time their next seasons start. The explanation of the Boyes suspension was spot on, even the fact that he mentions at the end, going forward Boyes will be a repeat offender. He explains that while Boyes' hit was unintentional he is saying it was reckless, and that is part of the rule. The fact he doesn't just release the names and number of games is an improvement but the way he is doing it, far and away above the expectations I had for Shanny. Complete transparency, he is calm cool and collected the whole time. Imagine that, the guy in charge of delivering suspensions appears to have no bias of any kind. This process in and of itself will save the NHL a ton of Face value they lost of the past few years with jokes of suspensions, inconsistency, and an apparent bias towards the size of the players name. I will end this tirade/rant/waste of internet space with this: Shanny Comish in 2014, the players are going to take their game back. (give him a few seasons to return the league to a status in which fans trust the league offices) Former player as commish, VP of safety, hell put former players in every single important league position, these guys understand the speed, strength, power, and that the game is played on the edge of Dangerous and beautiful. Well done Shanny!

McCrimmon, Salei on board Russian plane crash

This has been a very very tragic off season for hockey. There will be a lot of heavy hearts in the league this year. I wonder how many patches the NHL will allow certain teams to wear.

    Away Games

Only time I get to see the Wings in at the Fleet, err uhm TD Banknorth, err um TD Garden in Boston. Different trips each time. First time was cool in a very expensive section (gifts not trying to flaunt anything, I would have had to sell my kidneys for these), no one around us knew squat about hockey, I am not sure the girls behind us knew what they were doing, nevermind talk hockey. What I am trying to say is they were high. Leaving the game that the B's won in OT, Lids stick broke at the offensive blue line, 2 on 1 goal, the game was normal, Wings suck chant at the beer stands and in the stair ways. Next time was alright, ended up with great seats as the place was half empty, Wings smoked them, owned the whole game. No one said s*** in the stairs on the way out. The third time was the best experience, my buddy and I paid for or own seats some where in the middle of the place, our worst seats price wise, notice the ones we paid for were the cheapest. B's won a close game. Sat amongst the families, this little kid was razzing us, in a good way, the whole game. The dad actually bought us beers he thought it was bothering us, but we were just hamming it up for the kid. Then the standard wings suck on our way out the door. A fickle beast boston sports arenas. When their teams are good they are tolerable, when they are bad we suck! (Pats, Cs, Sox Fan) Overall always worth it to see the Wings, but even when I go to C's game, I have a hard time liking the crowd.

This is why Commodore was the best signing ever...

  10. What sense was I trying to make? I was making an observation, that after that there appeared to be no more Wings on social sites. The two may have nothing to due with each other. It could be the age of the team, could be the schedule leaves them little time, could be a million reasons. But one way to control imposters would be to not have any players on these sites to have their accounts hacked. Who knows, certainly not me, my point was it seemed to be the last Wing I have heard about on Twitter or Facebook (I am not a member of either of these sites, btw).

This is why Commodore was the best signing ever...

My commodore had a cassette drive, not a floppy. My older sister once wrote code for days so that a hot air balloon would fly across the screen. I recorded my voice over the code like a day or two later. She was PISSED!
  13. You know after the Flip traded on facebook issue, I got to say the Wings players seem to not be on a lot of social networking sites.

    Kaberle signs with Carolina

The only way he was going back to boston is if he offered to pay Marchant's raise himself and personally waxed the Red Auerbach (Famous Celtics coach in 50s-70s) Statue and Pavilion near the TD Garden. He basically was going to have to play for them for a discount, the fans, media, owners, gm, and most importantly Cam Neely (Neely a rumor, but he has a big impact on what the team does) are not happy at all with how he turned out. Guys like Peverly and Kelly would be given more money in Boston than Kaberle, right now. It is however rumored they offered him a two year deal, but was a thank you offer from what I am hearing. Chiarelli, is being given a lot of credit for walking away from Kaberle around here. People are impressed he was able to walk away, given the fact of what they gave up to get the guy.

So you are admitting only the impossible would give you satisfaction??? The Wings trade Hudler, Flip and a top level prospect to WPG for Bogo, possibility. Maybe the Wings see if Nas is interested in getting rid of Suter (doubt it whole same division thing). Matt Carle looks to be expendable. What about Wideman? First you want a blockbuster but then Ian White is ok with you?

1 yr 1 mil for Commodore does not excite me, but it is only one year so no real negative to it, he is better than Salei, imo, so this is an OK deal. Neither bad nor great move, but helps the D a little, Commodore is a sold vet. Oh wait here is the negative: I had this haircut when I was little my mom was a bit of a hippy! What is his excuse:

What does he have exactly? Is he going to be on the PK? Blocking shots? Eaves and Helm were two of the most solid/consistent Wings all of last season. He played many roles and scored more than any of us with realistic expectations thought. Oh, but yeah he fights, never mind, trade Datsyuk for him now, before he makes a home in NY!

Yeah because it is a good idea to do all of your deals/moves in the media, that way all of your fans know you are at least doing something. Instead of negotiating on the phone with WPG for Bogosian (it is a potential deal) Holland should do it through LGW or the Freep, that way his fan base knows what he is doing. Free agency has been going on for 3 hours, very few major trades have happened yet. I am not saying Holland lands anymore players or makes any moves, what I am saying is; it is 3 hours after all of this started and people on here are tweaking! What if by the end of the day Holland trades for Bogo, giving Huds, Flip, and Emmerton (or Kindl or Smith) freeing up the room to sign Richards? Will all of you come back on here and say you overreacted? NO, no one ever does. July 1st and the trade deadline are the biggest Holland headhunting days of the year on here.

I know, right I can not believe the league outlawed trades and stopped the Free agency period at 2:45.... Oh what's that you say, the Wings can make trades to free up a forward roster spot or two, they could even sign more players still. Oh s*** I thought they were screwed for a minute there!

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=Ap9nhD__EqMQ0m.Z3EXGGV17vLYF?slug=ap-freeagency I highly doubt he goes back to TB, I mean granted almost everything is new in TB, he didn't leave TB for money, he left for a chance to win another cup, then Dallas turned into TB v2.0. The article I posted led me to believe he is looking for a traditional market with a deep hockey tradition, and one that has been a contender.
