And what other hockey player has been in a song that actually got radio play besides Yzerman!! That is how cool the wings are, Kid Rock used Stevie's name: "I'm in it to win it like Yzerman, can drink about 15 Heineken!!" Sorry for bringing that up!
-
Holy Shat that is perfect KP I totally forgot about that slow bastard. Here it is boys and girls!! Thanks to the many lgw-ers that helped put this list together!! The all time slowest group on the ice for the red wings Luc - Igor- Lang Murphy - Kuznetsov Besides Kuznetsov I would however take anyone of them in their prime!!!! Edit- Slegr wasn't greased lightning either!!!
-
here you go all former wings at some point that would make the slowest combo on the ice, I need another D-man Luc - Igor - Lang Murphy -
-
Damn forgot about Tie Domi, I guess he would be tied (no pun intended) with McSorley!!! Edit: And his brother in law too!!!
-
Ray Sheppherd I think if you look up slow in Webster's dictionary his pic is there!!!!!!
-
1. Ulf Samuelson 2. Claude Lemiuex 3. Bobby Clarke (for me at least) 4. Dale Hunter (that hit on Lafontaine was classless) 5. Marty McSorely (I didn't even like him before the swing at Brashear)
-
I love that, Crawford looks like he is about to have a coronary and Bowman is just like "piss off youngster"!!

Buffalo is going to lose some top tier guys. They will not be able to afford Drury, Vanek, and Briere, let alone Roy, Numminen and Conklin. I know Conklin isn't that great but you need some form of a back up netminder. And Numminen and Roy played important roles, not that they were the reason for them being one of the top teams but still, you need grinders too!!

The attendance part of it is not a part that I can speak on, I never get to watch Wings games well except when they are nationally televised. I do know that sell outs don't always involve every seat being filled, so that may be a misguiding factor, but as I said I can not speak to attendance at the joe. My main reasoning is the O6 thing. (and a little of it is that I am a wings fan :-) )

So all of this talk about Nashville losing its team has got me thinking. I personally would like to see the league shrunk by at least two teams if not up to four. So here it is if you were on the board and the question was posed by Bettman, which 4 teams would you contract from the league. Mine: 1. Florida 2. Carolina 3. Atlanta 4. Pheonix Honorable Mentions 4b. Nashville 4c. Tampa 4d. Minnesota 4e. Columbus I really do not see a strong long term fan base coming from these communities and with Florida specifically there is too much competition from other major sports to sustain true interest. The moment the Raiders, 49ers, Lakers, or Clippers, put together a playoff run the new Hockey fans will jump right back. And heaven forbid a NASCAR race or time trials or whatever other crap goes along with racing comes along!! (sorry got caught up in the LA part below but you get the point)! I would also love to see Minnesota gone only to have Dallas move back to being the North Stars. Now I know none of this is going to happen and if captain dip s*** (Bettman) has anything to say he will probably expand the league again. I also would second a vote for either San Jose or Anaheim, see the Florida statement above!!

The playoff run he had with the Canucks was awesome. I remember yelling look out for the Russian Rocket to my bro in law all the time he hates Vancouver!!
-
#19 that is really the reason I am a hockey fan to begin with!!
-
And how quickly he fell off the face of the earth. Amazing how all of the sudden he just was no longer in the NHL.
-
Did the wings send them anything other than the 4th rounder?? Edit: Wow they got him for a 4th rounder and that is it!!
-
I think larionov's weakness wasn't D, it was his overall speed. Remember the Luc-Igor-Homer line, that had to be the slowest NHL line ever to take the ice. As I remember he was responsible in his own end not a Selky winner or anything but responsible.
-
I think the fact that the wings had the longest streak of consecutive sell outs argues its own point, but when it comes to playoffs, Detroit has seen this before. Correct me if I am wrong but the last time they tried to raise the price of tickets the same thing happened correct. Or they threatened to raise the price and the fans refused to pay the price. something along those lines. But to me the main reason why Detroit is not an option is that they are an O6 team and the league needs to do more to foster the O6 rivalries and embrace the heritage of the game. IMO

I know being in the New England area we are psycho about sports and knowing all that we can about prospects and trades. Is it that way in the D as well. For instance the nightly sports TV shows will tell you what Josh Beckett has done to change his routine on his off days as well as covering who the C's may trade their pick for as well as what they may do with their 3rd rounder. It is crazy the detail these shows go into, the only crappy part is I am not really a Bruins fan so I don't care what is going on there, I would like this info on the wings though. Do you guys get this kind of coverage from FSN or something? Edit Spelling!

Was Jimmy Howard a first rounder? I thought they took him with the 20 something pick. Will check on it though! Edit: Howard was 64th overall pick in second round, I was wrong!!
-
As much as I agree with you on all of those points, I still have a soft spot for Paul, I watched him from Umaine on and rooted for him secretly. It would be nice to have that skill set on the team though!! Just in a non-former avalanche / duck player's body!!!
-
I am not saying that Samsonov can't regain his old form, I am saying that in my opinion if I were the GM I would rather have Willy right now at this stage of both their careers!!!
-
That's what I was laughing at they are stuck with him for another two years hahahahahaha stop it your killing me!!!
-
Because you say it is the systems fault, that doesn't make it so. One Steve Yzerman was once thought of as only an offensive weapon, who couldn't play both ends of the ice. My how that opinion has changed. Why because he was able to work at it, and had the desire to be better on both ends. Sergei wants to score and as far as I can remember watching him play with the B's was always a defensive liability. I wasn't arguing any point by the way, I am simply stating my opinion. BringHomeTheCup! made the comparrison to Willy and I was responding to his post. The wrist injuries were brought in to show that he may not have the same skill he once did, seeing how wrist injuries might inhibit the performance of a guy whose main weapon is a wrist shot. I never said he wasn't a decent player actually what I said was he was a solid Third liner like Whitney, whom I would still like to have. But between Whitney, Samsonov, or Willy right now my opinion is to take Willy.

I think Bert should be willing to take less and I think 2.5 would be the highest I would like to see Kenny offer him. He is damaged goods, he isn't the same physical force he was before "The" incident. He is a mediocre Power forward at best, until he proves he can go to the net and create havoc. Even the Vs. announcers were saying he needs to go to the net instead of around it. Damn if after the Timonen deal the wings can keep Matt for 4 I would eat my own feces and post it on youtube!!!!!! (well maybe not but you get the point)

Nothing has made me laugh that hard in a long time, committed to Dan Cloutier!!! hahahahahahahaha, cut it out I may pee my pants!!! I live in Manchester NH, the Monarchs play there, and let me tell you something, Clouts may not get to see the end of that two year deal. They have got some great young goaltending. Now I know it is only AHL competition, but both of these guys have quick glove hands and are solid positionally, and are big guys. Labarbera is 6'3 230 Brust is 6'2 235 They also have Fukufuji. Edit: lost my home keys!

Thanks for the info, I wish I was closer so I could watch the local sports stations or listen to the local sports talk radio to hear some of this stuff!!!
