The only reason I think it should have been 5 + games is that McQuaid didn't even touch the puck for icing, Ference does on the other side of the net. IMO 5+ games was necessary.

Ouch those stats in that league are not going to do him any favors when it comes to getting a contract in the NHL!

What he is getting at is even Carey Price wants you off of his nuts! Howie is great for Detroit, they have made a history of taking very good goalies and winning it all as opposed to having the best in the league, btw no one said Howard was the best in the league in this thread. So your constant pointing out that someone is better is moot. Is Price better, at the moment yes, what about last year? Well let me help you there: C. Price GAA 2.77 SV% .912 In 39 starts J. Howard GAA 2.26 SV% .924 In 61 starts Last season Howard was top 5 and a Calder candidate, this season, Carey Price is better right now, in his 24 starts. However both will have about 60 starts by the end of the season, something Price has never done before, will he tire out, will he get stronger who knows. What I do know is your constant negativity is annoying as all hell!

Osgood will start on Saturday... JMac sent down to GR

Mindfly, What he is getting at is that Jimmy can be more relaxed in net and not press so hard to win. The team can pick the win up, sure he will have to steal a game or two, but if he is playing every game like he (Howie) has to be the best player on the ice he puts a lot of pressure on himself. Most goaltenders are better when they are relaxed, just like sometimes it seems like a player is gripping his stick to tight. He needs to relax a little more. -
http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bruins/articles/2010/11/30/bruins_swap_hunwick_for_cohen_gain_salary_cap_room/ Not a big move but making space for Savard to come back. They will need one or two more moves depending on who and what the salary is. Hunwick @ 1.45 to Col for Colby Cohen.

Did Eva just compare a sure fire, first ballot hall of famer to Hudler, not Hudler to the HOFer, but the HOFer to Hudler? Really? C'mon man! Your man love for Hudler just got silly, just plain silly! Ha ha ha, that is reeeeeee-DONK-ulous!

Didn't Holland say something along the lines off, that he did it to let Kyle get more time, to give him a chance to be an every day player? I mean don't get me wrong, I would have kept Quincey over Lebda every day of the week, however I thought it was a doing it to let Kyle get more minutes elsewhere. I could be wrong though.

That was a beautiful hit, and could also be used to teach a few NFLers how to hit. That was straight up a thing of beauty!

While it does appear that right now, the European players are playing better with other Europeans, at the start of the year Bert Fil Mule was the best line going. I personally like these lines (I know the s*** storm about to ensue) ZD/DZ Cleary Hudler Flip Mule Bert Modano Abdelkader Miller Helm Eaves I know I left Holmer off, but to me if he is not on the top line he is wasted, and I like the looks of that line with Cleary on it better than I do Holmstrom. I am also not so sure how well Abby plays the wing so I could easily be convinced to go Bert Abby Holmstrom and leave Modano off, however that is not going to happen unless Mo gets injured.

Campbell calls (likely Savard) "Fake Artist" in email
Opie replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
HaroldSnepts: I saw a post on the Yahoo blog and wanted to get the opinion of the people on this site. I can not add a poll to your Topic and don't see the need to start a new one. Can you add a poll asking: 1. Do you think Colin Campbell will be fired? 2. Do you think Colin Campbell should be fired? No big deal if not! -
Campbell calls (likely Savard) "Fake Artist" in email
Opie replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
This story is generating some momentum here in the greater Boston Region. A local sports talk tv show is covering this as when Savard is healthy he will play for Boston (unless traded). They have said that while there is no evidence that he used his hatred for Savard to not suspend Cooke, these emails should be the basis for termination. Ok so they are saying "He should be FIAARD" *Insert Mass accent*. I too watched the Blues Avs game and the new overtime show not to see what they had to say, because I had read almost all that there was to read on my own. But to see whether they covered it. They choose to ignore it, that is bush league. These guys are journalists now. Whether they were a Hockey player or an announcer before, they are a journalist now and should be covering what is important not helping the league sweep it under the rug. Wait what am I talking about Journalistic Integrity in this day an age, I am an ASSHAT! -
Losing Oshie was a lot more of an impact than I thought, or the youngsters are having a cooling off period.
-
You definitely tried to be clever with the Detroit who comment and that backfired and that is what got Shoreline going. But sure you were just commenting on a thread a Wings fan started.

Teams not scoring on a 5 on 3 that is of any substantial length is a failure on the PP. A two man advantage should almost be an automatic goal. Mindfly is just upset the team is doing too well record wise for him to be a negative Nancy so he is picking on their 5 on 3 pk. Desperation is a stinky cologne!

Doc gives me an interesting idea, What if each year 2 former Great Captains get to select their team based off of the fan voting of who is an all star. Hell even let the fans vote for the former captains. Team Yzerman v Team Sakic Team Potvin v Team Messier etc...

This kid will over-ripen in the AHL just like those before him have. Not a bad thing, just what the Wings do. Over-ripen is a relative term, Abby and Helm were at the AHL level less time than Kindl or Howard, but all of them over-ripened in GR.
-
Losing Oshie hurts, but their success has been built more on team play than one player having an incredible season. They won't be as dominant as they were but this doesn't render them useless, hurts a lot though.

This got a lot of play on ESPN yesterday and a lot of people (including the PTI guys) were applauding the NHL for being aggressive and trying new things while other sports were clinging to the past and the history. Not sure if Wilbon and Kornheiser approving is good or bad, seeing as they are such huge hockey fans!

love the 3rd period lines babs put out there. big change in the game! Very well played overall by Wings.

true Jolly, I had too much NFL on my mind that is their new rule!

The only potential call I could see here is targeting the head, other than that, Joe was in front of Perron, elbow was tucked, and the puck went through Perron. I can see the league telling the refs to be overly aggressive with the blindside hit, but Joe got in front of Perron, because Perron was doing his best Umberger impersonation and not looking around him, does not make this a blindside hit. It was indeed a shoulder to the head, but was the head the target? The only difference in my opinion between Kronner's hit on Selanne and this one is that Selanne was looking at Kronner, while Perron was looking at a chick in the second row behind his net. Head on a swivel my man, it is a vicious game, people get hurt, hurt by falling on the ice, hurt by twisting their knees, hurt by the puck as well are we going to change to a tennis ball because 8 out of 10 dentist say vulcanized rubber is bad for you teeth?
-
I think the problem here is Selanne has got to be the cleanest guy on that team. And I am sure that wasn't nearly as frustrating when they were one of the top teams in the league. Now he has to watch the PK march out on the ice over and over again, while watching the L's pile up as well. He came back to win, they have a lot of talent when they are playing the game, when they are gooning it up or whining, they are not very good. Selanne's frustrations are no doubt adding up, I think he just finally found an outlet and let it go way more than he needed.

Dallas has blocked more shots than they have taken? Something is wrong with that!

Yet another lackluster pp tonight!
