Add the 4 years up, divide by 4 and then you get the cap hit which is way too much for Det to eat! Unless you mean one year deal and then a three year deal?
-
That should give Lundqvist some rest, decent depth signing!
-
Damn you stop destroying my posts! Just kidding. Like I said before I agree with your subtitle he should have signed as he could get hosed if ATL decides to make a move, then he will have to back up somewhere!
-
Forgot about that one, good point, and I left Chris Mason out of that list as well, another youngster who will command some attention. I agree with your subtitle, he should have taken the deal, now if ATL goes out and grabs Lalime, Toskala, Raycroft, Niittymaki, or one of the other 700 fa goalies, he will almost have to take a back up role. The other thing I noticed while going over the plethora of FA netminders is this hamstrings Boston's ability to get rid of Thomas, they have to hope SJ wants him. They will likely get crap in return, because their are so many goalies out there, unless of course they trade him to ATL who like overpaying for players! Edit: IMO Hedburg > Khabi! I knew that one when I posted!
-
I could see Edm, SJ (If they don't land Thomas via trade or Turco via FA), or STL making a play at him. Ott, could be interested but they would not be promising a starting role, like many other clubs. I think he ends up back in Atl, not that he really wants to but if let's say Turco goes to SJ, Thomas traded to EDM (for sake of argument) it comes down to who is better STL or ATL? I think the real suitors here are EDM, ATL, STL. And I still haven't accounted for Nabby and Jose three of four, (whom always seems to get paid and end up somewhere starting only to end up sucking!)

EVERYONE loves the Zamboni driver, everyone, I mean to the point they started putting passenger seats on them for people to ride around on between periods, EVERYONE Loves the Z driver!
-
And Technically the only need 2 defenseman, then it could be one forward or one D-man, nothing says you need two scratches, the Wings operated with just Meech for most of last season if I am not mistaken.

Really, really, your kid gets cut and you call a lawyer, this is a direct result of the "Everyone gets a trophy" society we live in now. Guess what folks, the world is not fair, ask the millions of people without jobs, and the ones who can't get jobs because employers are seeking "People Currently Employed" Friggin' stupid parents, teach your kid to buck up and deal with it, eventually he will need to learn that lesson, and when he does, oh boy will it hurt. They hurt poor Daniel's dignity, boo friggin' hoo One of the most famous stories in sports is how at age 14/15 Micheal Jordan got cut from his high school basketball team, he used it to become the best of his era, and if I compared generations maybe the best of all time!

Drake whom are you refering to? You would put Hudler in the top 6 over Savard? Or Homer? (he is only useful there) or Mule? I won't bother making lines, but since it has been stated that Z and D will be paired together, most likely with Homer. That puts Flip, Mule and Savard, or I suppose Hud Mule Savard if you like. And a third line of Bert Abby/Flip Huds/Cleary something along those lines. I would rather have Flip in the top 6 than Hudler, myself. Instead you would rather have Hudler in the top six and Savard centering the third line? (this was what my comment was based on, Eva wanting Savard to center the third line) Edit: Since after all the premise of my post was that Savard would (He won't be so the point is moot) be a Wing next season, and I am not sure but the 4th not third line is the checking line IMO, the third line especially in Det is a scoring line.
-
NO but the only way your boy Huds makes one of the top two lines is if Dats and Hank are not reunited, so you keep making lines with Huds on one of the top 2 lines, thus demoting a clear second line center to the 3rd line.
-
Eva, not that I am suggesting trading Ozzie but when you said: That was the name that popped into my head instantly, again I in no way shape or form want Ozzie traded, he will play this year, and is a great mentor to Howard, but when you said the above, Ozzie was the name I thought of!
-
Thought Nyquist was a Frosh, my bad!
-
If Holland can not get a UFA here I can see Meech as the extra player, much like this year, he can play both positions and allows the wings cap space by only needing 22 roster players (I know it is really not allowing cap space, technically). If Meech were to go I would not be upset, nor if he stayed.
-
I think Nyquist and Sheahan should play in NCAA for 2 more years, Smith to me did it right, play your Junior season and then go to the AHL, three very good years in the NCAA will help him in the future a lot. Then hopefully a year or two in GR and they will be ready for the NHL.
-
Lets not forget the force Hudler is in the shoot out!
-
Umaine badly needs a tender and D-men. Their overall team d was weak at best. They got hot during the Hockey East Tourney but Offense was definitely their strong suit all season.
-
Good deal for a guy that was the #2 in the postseason. HE was very good along side Chara.
-
Savard at 4 a year would be a really good pick up, however it would be center overload again. I guess though you could then reunite Hank and Pav. It would require Flip and a prospect I think, I don't see them wanting 2 roster players as they are sort of against the cap and need to sign Wheeler and Boychuk.
-
To me pavelski was a no brainer and fair deal considering he what he did last year.
-
Stev That is imo where Atlanta failed, they paid the Hawks price, they should have done more like Edm, completely low ball the Hawks. The Hawks are going to HAVE to make moves, they are over the barrel so to speak, and Atlanta acted like they were the ones in dire need.
-
Fraser who was do an increase on your roster is now gone, 700k freed up, but yet another player they need to fill their roster spot. Also if the Wings 3rd and 4th lines looked like that as well as the 3rd pairing most of this board would s*** their collective pants, juicy, runny, smelly, hungover mudbutt s***s at that!
-
Not that big of a deal, cap move that really didn't provide much cap relief, even with a minimum 5% increase you are still talking about what $750k freed up.
-
Where did Huet go? The AHL? Trade? If Kopecky goes won't Hossa pitch a fit? OK ok the last one was a joke but the first two, where does the HUGE contract for Huet go?
-
Well deserved in both cases, but Dino was overdue!
-
I agree Wheeler is not what the Wings need, just stating that the move of Wideman makes him available and basically makes Boychuk a B for a while, he could develop into a top tier defensive D-man, he played great in the post season for them with Chara.
