  1. Hours? not sure I could make it minutes? Stupid s*** flows out of my mouth like you could not believe, think when I post I have more control over the dumb s***, and my posts are not exactly always top notch! But then again I don't get paid for what comes out of my mouth, nor do I get paid the way Millbury does, nor does anyone expect me to be professional most of the time. ( I work from a home office) I guess my point being the comparison is not valid. If I were a broadcaster like say Doc Emrick, I would answer I go years without making a potentially racist comment.
  2. I love it, people are defending and/or blaming Canadians for what an American said on an American network (I know 5 of you pointed it out before me). In today's information boom, anything said on TV in any small itty pitty town news cast can be world wide in less time than it took me to type this. having that piece of information, using any term that is remotely close to a derogatory remark should not be done. The whole Don Imus, Mel Gibson, Chevy Chase and others should have told us that don't say things like that even if you don't think the offended would be in your audience at the current time.

    KHL players Russia's downfall?

2 if not a third goal were with out a doubt due to Nabby being off of his game, the Morrow goal for one example, and the last goal he gave up for another.

    Brad May will join Griffins

Thank you, I was in a brief meeting and couldn't answer and could not have said it better myself. Brad May has a much better chance of seeing Ice time than Downey did, and I would wager a better chance than McCarty did, although Mac had the nostalgia thing going for him. With Maltby out Abs and May should be the 13th and 14th forwards in the postseason IMO.

I have no doubt he will be a playoff call up. Thanks for taking the high road Brad!

    KHL players Russia's downfall?

The goal scored off of the Boyle pass, can not remember who one timed it in, whomever it was had some of the weakest D played on them in years. Pretty sure it was the right D man who came in off of the point, 2 d-men went at Boyle, Kovie forgot to play anybody and was standing high slot watching the puck. Russia's team D was their downfall, and weak ass goaltending from Nabby did not help.

    Is Babcock a bad coach!?

Bad coaching was leaving Nabbie in for the second Period and then going to Bryzzy not after one more goal oh no no no, the Russian coach thought 5 goals in 22 minutes was all of the sudden going to stop, ooops make that 6 goals in 30 minutes. THAT WAS BAD COACHING!

    Brodeur Out, Luongo In!

As weird as this sounds, Canada needed that game from Mary, this allows the Coaches to go to Luongo, whom should have been the starter, however, starting Luongo over Marty would have got Babs absolutely demolished in the media. He had no real choice, the best active netminder, top 5 if not 3 of all time. If he loses with Luongo in net to the American's it is his fault the Canadians lost. Losing with Broduer in net giving the arrogant lack luster play was just the excuse Canada needed to move on to younger goalies like Bobby Lu.

Joe Thornton bad for canada and shark?

Say what you want about big Joe, but who was Jonathan Cheechoo before he started playing with Big Joe. How many other wingers have returned to normal after leaving his line? Marleau has been a choke since he joined the league, Heatley while great at times at other times is severely lacking in the effort category. Their D needs help, they had a perennial choke artist as a coach, Hanto Yo Baby! Joe has shown that he is a top 10 forward in this league, it is unfair to blame any of the Sharks or Team Canada's falls on one player. What about Sid the Kid being -3(maybe -2) despite scoring a goal? Broduer being a colander for the a better part of that game. Or instead of being a culture of blame, how about giving some credit to a determined scrappy team, with one hell of a goaltender. Was the Swiss game a weak showing, not in my opinion, Jonas Hiller has had better games than that, he was great don't get me wrong, but it shouldn't be a surprise is my point, Hiller has done this before. And this year the Canadians are the Russians of 1980, everyone wants to take them done this year, it is everyone's (especially the Swiss, Norway teams in this competition) BIG GAME. Every country circled the date they could face Canada, alright maybe not all of them but more than circled their games against the USA. Have the Canadians (BTW which way should I spell that if anyone cares e or a, I always thought E but spelled it a), played their best, no, I get that. But they have been challenged pretty good as well. With Roberto Luongo in net and having already lost to the Americans, the Germans are gonna get waxed. If they don't wax Germany, meaning they have not responded to adversity, they are done in this Olympics. If anything, the loss should be the motivation needed to win the Gold. They don't need a new coach or a new GM or new 2nd line center, they need motivation.

Doc Emrick's call of Kesler's game ender

Doc Emerick is pure class, this is a guy every announcer should try and be. He has some quirks but he has to, every announcer needs their cliche saying, and if you are not the hometown fan of that guy you are usually going to find it annoying. From this guy's "Marty Broduer Vs the World" comment in 98-99 post season (I think), to this call of Kessler, the thing about Doc is (and I fine this his best quality) he gets that excited over a good hockey play. That is it, he is into the game, gets into the emotion and the flow of the game, very few announcers are in Doc's class as far as I am concerned. Kessler's goal was 100% Hustle, now if Crosby, Ovechkin, Thornton, Mccarty, Malkin, Datsyuk, Chara, Steve Downie, or Andrew Brunette had scored that goal Doc is just as excited. He doesn't care who made the play if it was exciting and fun Doc is into it. He is in love with the game and it shows in almost every comment he makes.

    Olympic Opinion Question

Linky Dinky DOOOO After reading this article it got me thinking: In the beginning they refer to Yzerman being known as The Captain, my question is do any of you think this will help Yzerman steer the team? He is known for his leadership, but not for being vocal, Gretz has been more than vocal especially as a coach, but shows little leadership (My opinion, could be way off, but not the point of the thread). I know some Canadians on here may actually blame Gretz for the 06 7th place showing, as he did pick the team, and was the one responsible for putting it together. Yzerman has Babs to be vocal, but can Babs take orders/directions from some one he once coached? I am pulling for the US, but have a great interest in all of the teams playing. And if Canada is struggling (not saying they will) that helps everyone else involved. Thoughts? EDIT: Some great quotes from the article: Yzerman rarely showed emotion during his playing career and simply went about his business. Former Red Wings teammate Kris Draper, who played for Canada in Turin, said Yzerman’s demeanor will help the players manage the stress they’re about to face. Yzerman isn’t so sure that will be the case. Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle said the biggest part of Yzerman’s job has been done.

    Olympic Opinion Question

I couldn't agree more with that statement. However I would not be surprised in the least to see Holland walk away with Lids. He has said it many times, and I see replacing Lids as a huge endeavor when he retires. Not a great task for a new GM, hey go out and replace the best D-man to play in 30 or so years. I wouldn't want that to be my first task!

    Olympic Opinion Question

I think, like Holland, Yzerman will have the insight to get help from his coaches and scouts and fellow front office folks. If Yzerman has one trait (big if) that is his greatest attribute it would probably be humility, the ability to get help from others and not fell degraded by doing so.

    Jimmy Howard watch thread

Yeah but if it were Eva you would be making fun of his made up stats, correct? But because his made up stat supports your argument you are arguing based on the fact it supports your point not that it is in any way factual, correct? Otherwise please show me where you were able to find the SPARC otherwise known as save percentage accounting for rebound control.

    I've Made Up My Mind

I am usually anti playoff beard, due to the fact that my redheaded ass can barely grow a goatee let alone a full beard. (Yeah I am 33 and still grow patchy fuzz.) But this year I have been rocking the beard for over a month, playoffs for the Wings started in OCT it feels like. However I must say, I don't think I have add a damn bit of luck!

    Kovalchuk traded to New Jersey

Do any of you guys think that NHL GMs are waiting to see how he plays with top linemates in the Olympics to evaluate what he may look like on their team? I mean Boston might remember what he looked like with Savard, but the man has been in ATL for a while and his heart may have sunk a little. If he tears it up at the olympics, does that make his value higher or lower? Stevkrause, you can comeback for this question it makes sense and could happen (unlike trading Stuart!)

    CLutterbuck Destroys Richards

I agree 100% on this, I have no problem with guys throwing down at all. As I have said in this thread, I think the way Downey handled the Lappy hit was and has been the way the league deals with these types of hits, and how it should be handled. There is no point to breaking up the game because some one laid out a clean hit, it(hitting) is as much a part of the game as scoring and passing, stopping the game because of a big clean hit can and has ruined scoring opportunities and other parts of the game, because supposedly now there is a class of un-hittable guys! Again I ask where is the breaking point (a question you have avoided multiple times) what hit is not considered off limits, does it become like the QB in NFL if you touch him it is a penalty, only the penalty in Hockey is you get punched for a clean play that is apart of normal actions of the game? EDIT (spelling and this): Since there is a class of un-hittable is there also a class of un-punchable? I mean if you can't hit Lids, can he be punched if he hits Crosby? Can Dats get roughed up because he hit Malkin? Ovie, is he exempt to retaliation because he is also the C, franchise, and most talented player? Can he run around making dirty hits and be untouchable all at the same time?
