babs' theory, well imo at least, is depth, depth, depth. No one logs too much 5 on 5 time, no one logs too much PP time, no one logs too much pk time. There are games were I swear I saw a total of 8 forwards on the PK. Correct and while the Defense sucked balls half of the regular season there was Hossa and Dats winning games, but everyone forgets that, what have you done for me lately syndrome kicks in. If not for Hossa and dats the Wings could easily have been out of the top 4 in the West putting them without home ice! But you are right as of this moment back a couple of chosen weeks and games and opponents (chosen by some one trying to prove a point at that) means he isn't worth 7 mil a SEASON( note not just post season, the entire season), but then again you wouldn't be using the season as your criteria you are using the past couple of weeks!

While I don't necessarily agree with your take I will add that this is the reason I think Babs sat Abbie and played Maltby when Dats was healthy (Oh in Chi I mean). Young kids on the road can get rattled a lot easier than the vets. Saying that I think the youngsters are doing f-ing awesome. Cannot complain about their play, even Big E's penalty. Was it boneheaded, sure but he made so many other good plays that I am very much ok with his play last night and all of the postseason for that matter!

Lets see did the officiating suck in game 3, Yes! Did it suck in games 1 & 2, well no, it was still not called by the book, and the players still have no clue what is or isn't a penalty, but as a fan the game was better, but as far as calling it by the book, yes they once again sucked. Ericsson's call, had to be made, when he and Lebda looked at each other and realized neither was going after the puck, Big E just thrust his body into the Pen, needed to be called. So didn't A couple of the Hal Gill ones, but E's was much more blatant. The Wings PK was horrible, Cleary should have let the puck clear the zone, for some reason he reaches out to knock down the puck for control, even though it is already leaving the zone. He knocks it down without control, the Pens pick it up and Ozzie never even saw the puck! I say all of that to say this: The Wings have yet to play a full game this series. They same to take at least 10 minutes off (mentally) a game. They tend to get caught in this game of being too cute, and not just on offense either. The between the legs and blind passes out of the zone need to stop, this is not a game against a NYI team that has mailed it in. This is the SCF, a rematch with a pissed off team. I love how people complain about a facet of the Wings game after a loss, but fail to realize the reason the Wings are where they are and are there almost every year (Deep in the playoffs not necessarily SCF) is because of the style and system they play. You want them to run in an crush the forward in the corner. Awesome idea except that now you have broken down the entire defensive system the Wings use. In case you have noticed the Wings are almost always the most physical in two aspects of the game, forecheck and nuetral zone. Other than that it is pretty much a defensive system of out number the puck, or block the passing lanes. Doesn't seem like to bad of a theory considering they are trying to defend the Stanley cup!

What is the Players Union action? Aren't they allowed to step in an enact a clause that would keep the cap where it is?

I too expected this loss, I said from the start 7 games, I just don't see either team losing at home!
