I love the underachievers bit!!! Ville Leino anyone?
-
I think one created the other and vice versa! A vicious circle of annoyingly funniness that is funnily annoying!
-
Not to correct your post, but he seemed to give it away up the middle, you know the most dangerous place on the ice to clear the puck!
-
I cannot help but laugh at this pic!

Can you imagine if this were done in Det? You think Holland gets some s*** now, imagine if the first thing he did was plan a parade and take down the Howe statue? He would be hung in front of the Joe!
-
WOW! Listen I get that move with a team with no history, the Panthers, even TBL that has a cup and a little history. But you are talking about the franchise with the 2nd most cups, O6, long standing tradition and a fan base like that of the Cubs and Red Sox (before the championships). IMO, you don't just walk in a tear down the history like this is some MLS club that has only been around for about 10 years. I will be interested to see how long this lasts!

A lot of this has to do with the interviewer. I don't think Pierre gets the same gold from him.
-
I said it in another thread where his intelligence was brought up. He is very smart, but plays dumb very very well!

Straight Pavel gold: Gold Jerry, GOLD!

Abby nearly double Tootoo's hit total, probably TOI as well. But Abby ends up out of position less. So I guess defining "Best" would be important. Is best to you hardest? Does being taken out of position by the hit make a difference to you? Does total amount of hits matter to you? Best is a term that leaves a lot of subjectivity.
-
Hardest hitter: Kronwall Sneakiest hitter: Kronwall/;Datsyuk tie Highest Volume hitter: Abby I agree with Dickie Dunn, if more guys took a hit like Dats there would be a lot less injuries. He is not the biggest or baddest player, but he does have probably the best balance in the league, and I think that helps too!
-
He probably pulls a Niedermayer, comes back at the end of the season and joins the team with what looks like the best chance to win the cup.
-
Best of luck to him, that has got to be tough to get so close to your dream and have to walk away due to injury. Tough decision, but with all that we have learned from the NFL and NHL about concussions and the long term affects, I have to think this is the right decision.

signed Brendan Smith signs 2-year, $2.525m contract with Red Wings

My thoughts exactly, right now that appears a little but much, but I said the same thing about Rig's deal! -
I agree, nothing wrong with it at all. But if he were a 21 year old rookie would he get some slack for demanding that kind of thing? I think a guy wanting to be top 6 should be every players goal, until proven to be otherwise, then happy to make the team.

There in lies the rub, loophole Lou strikes again, maybe?
-
The more I read about this, I truly believe this is the biggest issue with him. That is why NJD look so intriguing to him, with Kovy leaving they have a large gap in their top 6.
-
He called me and I forgot to ask, we got side tracked talking about hanging out at Bear Brew pub in Orono. /sarcasm!
-
NO he is not, but boy does he play dumb well.

This just gets weirder! http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/ilya-kovalchuk-could-return-nhl-35th-birthday-212054669.html

Tough to say coming out of a lockout. Lockout years, IMO, are not good years to judge players. They basically all had their training camps with different players than they played with.

I think Hank and Dats are great players, not on par with Feds skill wise. I think Hank and Dats are greater Red Wings than Feds, if that makes sense. I think none of them belong in the rafters at the Joe. Look at the last two names put up there, all world players and leaders, and two of the greatest Wings ever. People forget not only was Yzerman the heart and soul of this organization, he has over 1700 points. This is not Colorado or Buffalo, simpy being a great player and leader does not get you in the rafters, you need to be one of the best Wings of all time. Unfortunately for Hank and Dats, they are in that class one step below that! IMO

So you are mad at Alfie's age, since his production is on par with Brunner, he is defensively more responsible and is a right handed shot, plus is a vet leader on a team that is starting to get young, and a proven power play commodity. The bonus part I am not so happy with, seeing as that brings him up to 5.5. But I personally would much rather have Alfie for 1 (most likely 2) years of cap hit that a Lecavalier who is already beginning his decline, for 5 years. That deal is going to look horrible after 3 years, IMO. I agree, a 41 year old is sometimes a tough pill to swallow. But as I have said in this thread, IMO this is not the Modano signing, a guy barely hanging on to his spot and simply passed over by his old team because he just isn't that good anymore. Alfie is closer to Selanne/Lids in that regard, I truly think Alfie has 2 more very productive seasons left in him.
