GS&T, You will get no disagreement from me in regards to what has been said by the players after the incident, they are being immature. The quote I have is from this Link. I go back to the fact that I don't believe it had anything to do with what he said, but the fact he brought his side show antics from the ice to the media. I can not believe the term sloppy seconds gets you black balled from the league. I just think it is a compilation of the Brodeur thing and past issues and the league wanted to stop it. My problem with that is they took control away from the stars, they didn't give the team a chance to take action, the league stepped in and now the Stars are on damage control.

GS&T, Look at my last post, Tippett specifically told Avery to not go to the reporters, he went to the reporters and got himself suspended. Tippett tried to control him, Avery refused. Avery defied him, who knows if Tippett would have benched him, he had no chance the league stepped in too quickly for the Stars to do anything about it. It appears players have talked to him about his practice habits, that hasn't helped. What more do you want them to do? Stop bashing him in the media, stop taking the chance to blame your losing ways on Avery. Sure I will give you those, Turco should be sending Avery a huge Christmas gift for hiding his lackluster (being nice) play. But I think the teams hands are tied, I would love to see the guys in the locker room step up and say what happens at practice stays at practice, but I would also like to see Avery shut up, neither of those are happening from this point on.

This makes a little more sense on the Dallas front, they appear to be basing this off of his interactions with his own team and his inability to be a part of the team. Where as the league suspended him to long for his words.

Just to set the record straight, I think he had a right to get upset at the repetitive questions not hat he was being questioned. I understand if it is asked once or twice per interview, but every question they asked was about him not playing well and how he intended to fix that. He answered it, fine ask it again tomorrow and the next day, but not the next question and the 5 after that.

Not arguing with you just making points. Having said that to the last part of your post, simply put to get the best athletes to represent their countries, it had less to due with representing the NHL as compared to the Countries (US specifically) being down in the medal count and viewing that as some marker of who you are as a country so the US and other countries started using pro athletes. IF you ask me I liked it better when a bunch of no name college kids beat the Russians, but that is just me and now with pro athletes I can never really root for the US as the true underdog anymore or I will never see any event like the Miracle ever again.

They weren't there as representatives of the NHL, they were there representing their country. The NHL had no grounds to do a damned thing. Just saying.

That is how it is the same, Ovechkin was selected before the Wings ever picked same with Malkin and Crosby. Once he was off the table the Wings traded their pick for 2 in the later round to Pho. To piggy back your idea or add to it whatever you want to call this post. Joey Porter came out in defense of Plaxico Burress, the players union has filed a grievance on his behalf. This man broke the law, had an unlicensed concealed handgun and has players and the union defending him. AVERY no one will defend!

A. I made the comment about sticking his hand in the snow blower in jest. B. That is the only way I see this happening unless it fell and he was trying to keep it upright and it smashed his hand, but I doubt that breaks three fingers and does tendon damage. It sounds more likely that he tried to free up a rock or ice chunk and his hand got caught in the tumbler. BUT JUST MY SPECULATION! C. Still a dumb injury in my book, listen I dislocated my shoulder walking down a flight of icy stairs to let a dog out, that was stupid injury, mangling your hand in a snowblower related injury, STUPID. I know accidents happen, but he put his livelihood in his hands, if he is that inept at using a snowblower he should have hired a neighborhood kid, especially if he is out with back problems.
