Datsyuk - Helm - Franzen Leino - Zetterberg - Bertuzzi Cleary - Filppula - Williams Eaves - Draper - Abdelkader That would be a pretty good mix right there.
-
Dandenault, Devereaux, and Lapointe back in. Helm, Abdelkader, and Filppula out. Let's get more old guys that suck to compliment the ones we already have (Holmstrom, Maltby, and Draper).

Larsson loves the meatballs in Stockholm. He grew up on them.
-
I don't think we can win with what we currently have. I think the Wings are missing one piece, and that's another forward who can bang. I'm not sold on Bertuzzi being that guy, so I'd like to see a midseason deal for the likes of a player like (it pains me to say this) Tootoo. Thoughts?
-
I agree with you that it's all sour grapes after the fact, but honestly, Babcock got outcoached in game 6 and 7. He should have been playing healthy, hungry, young guys over INJURED old guys. How can the team win with players skating at 70%? That's just bad coaching.
-
I agree with you 100% on me being an asshat for forgetting about Franzen. He's the best ***** player on the team in the playoffs, and I don't even pencil him into the starting line-up. Total Fail there.

Lidstrom selected as hockey's Athlete of the Decade

Yes, Kobe Brygdanov. http://www.theonion.com/content/from_print...danov_leads_red -
The Premier League is way better.
-
I can't believe that!!! Damn, we are deep!
-
As long as you don't bring Bob Errey back into the discussion!! At least Boyd still plays!
-
Good points. I just worry about the playoffs. I know this team is going to be alright no matter what during the regular season. I just want to see a little bit more toughness added come playoff time. Maltby, Draper, and Holmstrom do NOT provide this.

I wouldn't mind seeing #21 in a Wings uni come April of next year at $750K/season. I'll tell you that much.

Lidstrom selected as hockey's Athlete of the Decade
Jake Ryan replied to Cruiser008's topic in General
I agree with your 3 100%. I just don't think it's a contest. I think it goes like this: 1. Tiger Woods - HANDS DOWN! This guy is the greatest golfer who has ever lived and will ever play the game. It's clear to see that this player has a gift not unlike Motzart to music or Einstein to science. He's a PHENOM unlike any other in sports. 2. Roger Federer - Undoubtedly the best Tennis player to ever play the game so far. But will he be in 30 years? I'm not so sure about that. But as for 2000-20009, for sure the dominant force in that sport. 3. Kobe Bryant - Best basketball player in the world for the decade. Took over for Jordan as the NBA's poster boy. These three guys have all the endorsement deals for a reason. They are the best. -
There are couple pictures of Lidstrom and Datsyuk without their shirts on floating around out there. Those two guys are RIPPED. Probably why they are so durable (Datsyuk's broken foot, aside).
-
Yah, I should have clarified. Those forward lines aren't in order. By no means do I think the playing time should be 20 mins, 15 mins, 10 mins, 5 mins or something like that for the descending lines. I think those lines are very well balanced for a rolling 5 on 5 type of play. That was what I was gunning for. Not a knock on Leino or any of the other players.
-
Not at all. I want to see how much better Datsyuk plays when he has someone open the ice up for him. Datsyuk and Hossa had to play short handed all last year because their line-mate was slow as molasses. I really want to see what happens when Datsyuk doesn't have a stick in his gut all game long because the team has to focus stopping the 2nd AND 3RD member of his line. I'd also like to see if Helm has a scoring touch. We've seen flashes of brilliance, but never any consistent streaks yet. But he's never gotten a chance to play. I hope he gets it. Why is it that the whole crowd at the Joe and me LOVE Helm, and noone on here does?
-
Seems like I'm not alone in thinking that the Wings need a forward who can bang on the 2nd and 3rd lines. I'd like to see Tootoo aquired late in the season. Datsyuk - Helm - Bertuzzi Cleary - Zetterberg - Filppula Abdelkader - Draper - Tootoo Leino - Williams - Eaves Lidstrom - Kronwall Rafalski - Ericsson Stuart - Kindl
-
Ha. You really don't think Kronwall, Stuart, and E are enough for toughness at D? I was wondering if Rafalski might be a little too frail for the playoffs too. It's odd that he hasn't worked on getting his upper body up to Red Wings standards (See Lidstrom and Datsyuk's physiques), and he's the one that goes down with an upper body injury. You'd think that he would have done that over the course of his career, but he comes out at 175 pounds each and every year.
-
You know what's really crazy is that noone has made the argument that the Swedish Olympic team selects Tomas Holmstrom for their squad, so it's not just the Red Wings upper management that's saying Tomas Holmstrom is worth a roster spot. I don't think Holmstrom is good anymore, but I'm not saying that he wasn't good at one point in his career.
-
Gretzky, Howe, and Lemieux are the best all around offensive player to ever play hockey. Harvey, Orr, and Lidstrom are the best all around defensive players to ever play the game.
-
Good to see you really pay attention to detail! Ninja for you!
-
He has a Red Wings logo tattoo, from what I understand. That actually made me like him a little bit, because I have one too.
-
There's not much else to say about this thread. Guy go injured. What else are we going to talk about?

I like to read The Onion for my NHL coverage. Stuff I want to see on there. http://www.theonion.com/content/from_print...danov_leads_red and http://www.theonion.com/content/news/detro...both_attempting

ACG, I like your picture at the bottom of your posts. Unfortunately, you need to replace "Now" with "2010-11" or replace Ville Leino and Tatar with Holmstrom and Maltby. The future is being fked up by Babcock and Holland and their HHO's.
