Why would anyone want to go over to the Penguins site?
-
Exactly. One thing that they have on on-line sites for soccer that I really like is a tracker that follow the players distance traveled. It shows you all the spots on the field where the player has gone and the actual distance involved in all of his running, as well as the areas changing colors the more frequently the player is in that area. I wish NHL.com had that feature so you could see the CLEAR difference in a player like Hossa. Hossa, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Draper, and Cleary play goal line to goal line. The others tend to play a little bit more blueline to blueline. This is partially because of the system we play where we lock a wing in the neutral zone to defend against counterattacks, but the point remains the same: certain players in our system have to work their asses off and play a more demanding style of hockey. Hossa is one of them. The guy is a monster up and down the ice. If you have a chance to lock a guy like Hossa up long term, you do it. That's all there is too it. As silly as it sounds, I'd rather see a 19 man roster right at the cap that includes Hossa than a 23 man roster right at the cap that doesn't.

You obviously haven't watched a Red Wings game in a couple of years. This is like arguing to keep Maltby over Helm. Pure stupidity.

Now THAT is funny!!!

Do people really think like this? Because Datsyuk and other Russians always have a stoic look on their face because of the way they were raised and get injured 8 times less than 175 pound Canadian guys, that they don't have any determination or heart? I can't believe that people actually believe this type of logic. It's almost as dumb as calling Yzerman a ***** for not playing on his broken ankle in 2001. If a guy's hurt, he's hurt. This is PROFESSIONAL SPORTS, cupcrazy. It's not like he's got a hangnail and backing out of a pick-up shuffleboard contest. Do you honestly believe that Pavel Datsyuk is not as tough as Steve Yzerman? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8rf5vw-ww0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao152EVQEiI...feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2zBhRyYJUs...feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qgZOctTihc...feature=related And I tried to find an Yzerman hit by typing in "yzerman hit" and "yzerman check", but all I could find was Yzerman getting hit in the eye and scoring goals. When people try to tell me Yzerman was tough, I just laugh. The guy gutted it out through some pretty bad injuries along the way, but he was about as rough and durable as Mary Poppins. Yzerman was the last of his breed - the 80's style hockey phenom.

Not gonna sweat it either way. So what do we have now? Franzen - Zetterberg - Cleary Holmstrom - Helm - Hossa Samuelsson - Filppula - Hudler Leino - Draper - Maltby ?? I still like our chances!! Man, our team is AWESOME.
-
EXACTLY! Franzen - Zetterberg - Cleary = Best line in the league Datsyuk - Filppula - Leino = Two talented centerman and a playmaking winger Hossa - Helm - Hulder = Best 3rd line in the history of hockey. Abdelkader - Draper - Samuelsson = Two grinders and a sniper.
-
I'd like to see this: Franzen-Zetterberg-Cleary Datsyuk-Filppula-Leino Hossa-Helm-Hudler Samuelsson-Draper-Abdelkader Probably won't happen, but I think taking Abs and Leino out would be a mistake. Holmstrom needs to sit.

he he. I bet you can't wait to shove it in their grills tomorrow.

some of these posts make me laugh. "Hossa is losing his speed and will sign for 4-5 million. He shouldn't be making Zetterberg or Datsyuk money." Give me a break. I seriously think some of these posters do NOT watch the games. Hossa has played so solidly this playoffs, it's absurd to not see the value in this guy. The only knock I had on him was that he wasn't shooting low against Hiller. He kept firing it into Hiller's glove and chest for the first 4-5 games. I thought that was more a coaching error, though, because a lot of other Wings players were doing the same. Reminded me of the Dave Lewis era. But they solved that problem. With a win tonight and a few goals from Hossa, everyone will be all over his jock again.

Scalping Racism - That's a new one.

yah. The calls aren't "missed". The calls are "let go".

All of the officials can bring penalities to the referees' attention.

No. I am not a millionaire. I stopped doing things millionaires do a few years ago. I will be a millionaire within the next decade, however. And when I am, then "yes"!!!

Take the 1000, go buy a 52 LCD, sign up for HD, and watch it at home. Then enjoy 5 years of awesome television viewing after that.

Ferraro calls for Scotty Niedermayer to captain Canada

No, it's not crazy to think that the refs call games a certain way because that's what the league president wants them to do. That's just being logical. However, it is crazy to think that the Red Wings can't overcome bad officiating and win anyways. In my opinion, the officiating has been AWESOME this finals and is NIGHT & DAY compared to last year. Last year, the refs completely fked the Red Wings (5 on 3s, no calls, phantom calls, etc.). This year, they've let some of the chincey stuff go and called them pretty straight up with only a few power plays for each team each game. I have no knock on the officiating as of right now. I expect them to tilt it in Pittsburgh's favor 60/40, and I really don't mind. So long as they are CONSISTENT. That way, the Red Wings can adjust.

If this doesn't SHOUT OUT "I HAVE A HOLMSTROM HARD-ON" at 1,000,000 decibels, then I don't know what does. Let's get this straight. We're about to let go of Dan Cleary (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8466149), who currently is ranked #1 in the playoffs for plus/minus, has 14 points in 19 games, and has a cap hit of 2.8 million. And instead of asking Tomas Holmstrom (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8460743), who currently sits at a 0 for plus/minus and has 7 points in 19 games, to retire or be traded, we're going to bump him up to the top line and pay him 2.25 million. That's what you're suggesting we do. Keep the 36 year old guy who only serves one purpose and ship out the 30 year old guy who has 4 game winning goals this playoffs, including game 7 against Anaheim, and is second only to the Mule in his level of clutch-ness? That, my friend, is just plain stupid. I really hope we don't get rid of Cleary and keep Holmstrom just for a 500K cap savings. I do agree with you that it will be impossible to keep one of our top 4 defensemen if Hossa resigns at 6 million. I hate to think that we might all be failing to see the warning signs of the saddest day for the Red Wings since Yzerman retired = Lidstrom's retirement?
-
I laugh at you if you think Hossa isn't playing well. This guy has been GREAT. You obviously aren't content with 3-1 Red Wings hockey. Zetterberg and Hossa have been stellar on the back check. And with Pavel out, that's been key to our success. Watch what happens tomorrow, chump!
-
I like what you're putting down. I'd rather see it like this, though: Franzen - Zetterberg - Cleary Datsyuk - Filppula - Leino Hudler - Helm - Hossa Abdelkader-Draper-Samuelsson With as much as the Wings get kicked out of the faceoff circle, this line-up gives us 2 centermen on every line and a balance of our speed. And the Triple H line needs to start NOW!!!

And that is acceptable. Pavs will get in there when he's recovered. He's not being "soft".
