  1. SHHHHHH!!!!!! Holmstrom is the best! Clearly worth 2.5 million a season, IF NOT MORE. The guy is a bruiser. PURE intimidation. Have you seen him just OWN the crease lately? And all the points he's racked up. The guy is a virtual dynamo on offense. I mean, nothing you can say about this guy except "Franchise Player". The Canucks should use him 25-30 minutes a game, and the Sedin twins are Swedish too! The SHS line is the future. Kenny, get it done so we can help Vancouver become a powerhouse.

Good thing Holmstrom was right there in the muck to give Lidstrom his stick ...... oh wait.

What makes you think Holmstrom runs over people? You are confusing Tomas Holmstrom for Cam Neely. Ninety-SUX goes and stands in front of the goaltender on the power play. While doing so, he takes pushes and cross checks from defensemen and swipes and pushes from the goaltender. His screens help the Wings score goals on the power play and he bangs in some rebounds, as well. 5 on 5, Holmstrom skates from one blueline to the other blueline and puts his linemates in an almost short-handed-like situation in which they end up playing too much defense and get marked by a forward and a defenseman on offense due to Ninety-SUX's inability to open up space. Tomas Holmstrom does not bowl anybody over, as you seem to think. He serves his purpose on the power play. That is a given. What many HHO sufferers on here don't realize, however, is that his 5 on 5 play is HURTING the team. I hope Babcock makes the adjustments in the finals when we face a tougher squad than the blackhawks.
  4. Sign and Trade Deal Vancouver signs Ohlund to a 3 year, 9 million dollar deal. The Wings trade Holmstrom and Lebda to the Canucks for Ohlund. Get it done, Kenny.

    Caps players on Steroids?

Chris Chelios has never taken any steroids.
  6. Sergei's in financial trouble, if I remember correctly. I don't think he's going to find a better paycheck here in the states, unfortunately. I'd like to see him get 17 more goals and finish over 500. That's 2 years of work for Sergei in the NHL. Perhaps the Capitals can pony up enough to keep him. I don't think so, though.

Game 5 Injury Update: Ericsson, Datsyuk, Lidstrom out

I'm not too concerned about Lidstrom, but I think Datsyuk may have a broken foot. He'll probably play on it in the finals, though.

Khabibulin, Havlat: Out for Game 5

The Wings are going to put this series away tonight. There's NO CHANCE of a blackhawks win.

    Dan Cleary Interview

I can't believe they're scheduling games 1 and 2 on Saturday/Sunday. Couldn't the Joe find some kind of Palooza to schedule on Saturday?

I thought Theophany's post was legit. Just because he doesn't think Franzen needs to play like Holmstrom, you tell him to join the Lanche?

    Stirring the Conspiracy Pot!

I'm not against the finals starting this upcoming weekend if the Wings polish off the hawks tomorrow. I'm just against 2 games. Why can't they start it on Sunday and go Sunday, Tuesday, Friday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday?

McKeon: Geez, not ANOTHER Wings-Penguins Cup final...

Anybody who isn't absolutely GEEKED about a Red Wings/Penguins final is NOT a hockey fan. These are 2 teams are in the top 5, if not the top 2, in all of hockey. What's there not to like?

  17. Will someone please make a motivational poster with the title "Nap Time" and put a picture of Havlat sleeping? That's my favorite shot of this series. Havlat on the ground taking an Ice Nap.

At no point have I yelled. And at no point have I called any of the members on here names for their opinions on the matter. You are saying the same thing I am, by the way: Ninety-SUX has a purpose on the power play, but his role 5 on 5 should be next to nothing. It's really funny.

    Johan Franzen

I don't know who's going to take the Conn Smythe, but the Mule is the Wings heart and soul of the playoffs. This guy is the most clutch performer I have seen on the Red Wings in a long time. The Wings get everything out of this guy. Defense, Offense, Power Play, Penalty Kill, you name it. He skates, hits, scores, goes to the net, you name it. I don't know where this guy came from, but I'm glad he plays for us. He's a freak!

    Johan Franzen

The Mule is anything BUT soft. This guy is an absolute FREAK. He's not a huge hitter and probably can't fight, but this guy isn't going to stop scoring. He's like the terminator of scoring. He just won't stop until the other teams are all DEAD.

    Wings physical play is underrated

Diamond = NOT soft Ruby = NOT soft 18 CT Gold = NOT Soft Now go away, or I shall have to taunt you a second time-uh.

Someone needs to come up with a motivational poster called "Nap Time" and put that picture of Havlat in there!! Nap Time No Milk Required

Holmstrom has one year left with the Wings. Get used to it. He's already past his prime, and his usefulness to the team is in serious question now. I'd be surprised if the coach lets him see much of the ice against Pittsburgh. He has his role on the PP, but other than that, he's pretty much worthless. I understand why people like "Homer" though and continue to root for him. He's a likeable player. But Babcock shouldn't let his HHO get in the way of the team's success. Get "Homer" on the ice for his 3-4 minutes of PP time per game, and keep him off the ice 5 on 5. At 1:21 you can see Ninety-SUX's skates 10 feet behind where they should be. I'm surprised he crossed the blue line, to tell you the truth, but regardless, he didn't pick up his responsibility and cost us game 3. I think we can win the cup with Ninety-SUX playing 5 on 5, but I think we can win it easier if he doesn't. Thoughts?

    Fedorov to join KHL

Whoever said that Fedorov was the prototype for today's NHL player is absolutely correct. Fedorov was the perfect transition from 80's/Gretzky hockey where goaltenders were pencils and defense was nonexistant to modern day hockey where goaltenders are telephone polls and defense is the name of the game. It's funny to think about what Fedorov would have looked like going up against the 1982 New York Islanders and what Wayne Gretzky would look like going up against the 2008 Detroit Red Wings. I'm not so sure Wayne Gretzky would be as dominant in today's NHL as he was in his time. I'm pretty sure, though, that Fedorov in his prime would fit into any NHL era.
