Which referee called the "penalty" on Stuart last night?
Jake Ryan replied to Bump's topic in General
Was looking for a replay of the Neidermayer goal last night and stumbled upon this: Brian Hayward is an awesome guy, and this video made me laugh. Not everyone in the Ducks organization is a complete SCHMUCK. -
Cool. Can't wait.

Yah, I tried re-reading that post WITHOUT voicing inflection in my mind where all the question marks are, as one is taught to do in grammar school. And the post was still hard to make out. LOL? Honestly? I think you need to chill, bro? Good post, Four?/ I am hungry now? I think I'll go to the fridge and get a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Oh, by the way? The ref in our game sucked last night? / Did you see the call he made on the Hossa goal at the end of the game.

I'm in. Maybe when the Wings meet the Sharks in the Conference finals, we can meet up at the .... Oh wait. Ha ha ha! We'll catch a game in October/November, ok? Cool.

I've been to so many Sharks/Red Wings games and a lot of Sharks games in general, and I agree with everything GOOD said about the Sharks organization and its fans. Way cool vibe with the Sharks. The Ducks have a completely different atmosphere. The Ducks are the Rich Bullies of the NHL. Like the Broadway Bullies, but Snobby instead of blue collared. Wish the officiating in the playoffs was like the regular season and penalties were called. Then these types of teams wouldn't be around.

Which Ref was responsible for MISSING the call on Neidermayer? If Watson is responsible for all the BAD calls against the Wings, then that would be really crazy. -
Remember all the banter about Sergei vs. Steve that used to happen in the past between Red Wings Fans? I'm glad that doesn't happen between Pavel and Hank as much as it did between Fedorov and Yzerman. It seems that people are more willing to accept that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are both good players (as were Steve and Sergei) and are cool with giving them both the props they deserve. I always hated seeing people bag on Fedorov because he wasn't more like Steve Yzerman. I never could understand why Red Wings fans couldn't be happy having BOTH players doing well on the team.

Yah. After Detroit wins a championship, cars are burned, rioting takes place all over the city, and one or two people usually end up dead. Should we blame the Red Wings organization for such outbreaks? Hell no. There are bad people everywhere. You need to know when, why, and how to stay away from them. The OP learned his lesson about this last night.

I tried to post a thread to say that Rafalski is DONE, but it got removed. He MUST have a broken bone (wrist?) or torn muscle (groin?) to be out this long. The team is not doing itself any good by keeping the injury undisclosed. They should just tell everyone what's going on, so everyone can stop wondering. This goes way beyond flu or bruise or something like that. It's been 2 weeks now. It's got to be a 4-8 week injury or something like that. I'm counting him out for the rest of the playoffs.

You're our boy, Blue!

They're going to have to nominate Datsyuk for the first "Casper" award if he doesn't step it up and pop for a few goals in Game 4. This is getting annoying. He's too good for this crap.

Ok, if you weren't drunk and making an alcohol influenced remark, then I'm more inclined to believe what you said shouldn't have been met with such anger from the Ducks fans. I just think that people who are completely sober are more inclined to walk away or drive away from that type of situation instead of yelling some type of comeback. I'm behind you, either way, man. I really am not advocating the Ducks fans' behavior. I'm just saying YOU could have used better judgement, as well. You live and learn, I guess.

Babcock should be blamed for ONE thing. Not moving Helm up to the Datsyuk line and Holmstrom down. That is ALL. His coaching has been fine other than that. He needs to energize the Datsyuk and Hossa line. Who has the most energy on the team? Helm. Why this is so hard for Babcock to figure out, I don't know. Hopefully, he does soon.

I think it would be great if someone threw an octopus on the ref.

Ok, here's the question most of us want to know: Were you drinking last night? We're all giving you props for defending your turf and not backing down to these bozos. However, I think most of us agree that you should have been ready to get what you got by mouthing off back to the idiots who were taunting you. "Don't piss into the wind" is what comes to mind here.

QFT. "Luke, What I told you was the truth ... from A CERTAIN POINT OF VIEW."

I am sorry, but I've seen the way Red Wings Fans roll INTO the Honda Center, Shark Tank, Staples Center, Jobbing.Com arena, United Center, Pepsi Center, General Motors Place, and the Joe. And I've also seen the way they act DURING the games (myself included). Red Wings fans are ANNOYING AS ALL HELL to everyone else in the league EXCEPT other Red Wings fans. By the time Red Wings fans think they're leaving "properly", it's too late. They've already pissed off everyone else and gotten them to the point where they're ready to jump on them if they make the slightest remark. Too me, this is all SOUR GRAPES. We lost. We compounded the loss by not ignoring the Ducks' stupid fans and just shutting up and eating our crow after the game. Now DEAL with the consequences.

All I want to know is why the Ducks are the ONLY team in the league that is allowed to have goalies with oversized equipment. Could you imagine if the Red Wings had Hiller and his enormous equipment in their net? They'd never get scored on. It would be a shut out half the games.
-
This is EXACTLY what I was thinking. I held back my sympathy for the Red Wings fan because an attack of that nature would NEVER happen from "Hey, who won last year?" as the only thing being said. That's ridiculous. The OP probably had too much to drink, probably shouldn't have been driving in the first place, and DEFINITELY should have kept his mouth shut. Bloody nose and broken thumb = probably lucky that's all that happened.
-
T. Low. T. Low. T. Low. T. Low. T. Low. Ha ha ha ha ha! Sounds like the OP could have used you by his side. Bull in a China Shop! F yah!

EXACTLY. This is the perfect response. Maltby gets to wear a visor and prance around the ice after he talks all his smack. And the opposing player is going to lose a lot of money if he sucker punches Maltby and causes an injury. The Red Wings fan has the windows as his visor, but the Ducks Fans don't have to be accountable for their actions and aren't going to lose any money by breaking the windows and smashing the red wings fan's nose in and breaking his thumb. Life isn't like Red Wings hockey = perfect response.
-
Hey, the proof is in the pudding. The Red Wings fan answered the bell. He got called out. And he answered the bell. He lost the fight, but he stood up and answered the bell. Props to the Red Wings fan.
-
The Ducks Fans called out for a fight. The Red Wings fan answered the bell. The Red Wings fan got popped. What more needs to be said. Props to the Red Wings fan for not backing down.

And I very seriously doubt that "So, fellas, who won the Stanley Cup last year?" was the EXACT verbage. My guess is the incident went more along the lines of: "Yah, bye bye, baby Red Wings fans. Soft ***** Euro trash. We own your asses, you weak b!tches. Go the fk back to Detroit where all you poor losers live." "Hey, FK YOU. You fat mexican illegals. Go back to mexico where you belong." Maybe even worse. If the "fighting words" happened just like the original poster said, then the Ducks fans are complete trash and this is just garbage. But my guess is that "We won the cup last year" is NOT the phrase that caused broken windows, bloody nose, and broken thumb. My guess is the phrase was a little stronger than that.

This is what I don't like. Why couldn't the Referee go over to the scorers table, ask the players to get out of the way, talk to the other 3 officials and the scorers table, get told by the other 3 that the play was AN OBVIOUS GOAL, and go to the REPLAY. He didn't have to use that stupid "intent to blow" garbage. That's what I don't like about all of this. He could have left the "intent to blow" crap in the bag and gone to the scorer's table and reviewed whether or not the puck was across the line when the puck went in. Then he could have explained after the game that his "intent to blow" the whistle happened EXACTLY when he blew the whistle = AFTER the puck was in the net. NOBODY would have argued with any of this. So there are TWO mistakes being made, and that's why the Wings and their fans got SCREWED and have a right to be mad. 1) Bad Call. 2) Bad Judgement. The officials should know how to handle this situation and how to buy more time and manipulate the rules to make sure the CORRECT call gets made. That's why the rules are not black and white in the first place. They've made these rules so that the officials can cover their asses when they make a bad call. That doesn't mean that the officials ONLY have to use this rule to defend THEMSELVES. They should be using the flexibility of this rule to make the right call, not give them an out for being out of position and using poor judgement.
