I agree with this poster. Don't start SH!T and there won't be SH!T. Leave your window rolled up, don't say anything, and go home. Alcohol = Fights. Ducks Fans = Fights. What do you think Ducks Fans + Alcohol equals? Good Banter? Come on. I'm glad a bloody nose and broken thumb was all that came out of this. It could have been worse.

I have to say that I'm starting to calm down now, even though I was at about an 8 on the Rage Scale earlier. I wanted to hear some stories about other fans' levels of anger and what they've done in the past when they reach certain levels. The worst thing I've done happened in 1995 after the game where Paul Coffey got hit with a puck against the Devils, didn't get up like he should have had he not been the biggest sissy on the planet, then the Devils scored. My mom made pasta after that game and asked me why I wasn't adding to the dinner table conversation. I told her that I was upset that the Red Wings lost and she told me to calm down and that it was just a game. I walked my plate over to the garbage and threw the whole thing in the garbage can. Said "Thanks for Dinner" and went straight to my room. That was about the most upset I've been after a Wings loss. Tonight was pretty bad though. I think having the game taken from them by the referee is the worst part of it. They played like crap and didn't really deserve the game anyways, but you have to win some of the games you don't really deserve to make a good stanley cup run, and the ref took one of those away from us tonight. That's frustrating. So what are your experiences?

I know this will anger a lot of fans on here because many Red Wings fans seem to think that Tomas Holmstrom is Phil Esposito reincarnated, but this guy needs a demotion, and he needs it NOW. Bring Helm up to play with Hossa and Datsyuk, and send Holmstrom to the BENCH. I'm a big fan of what Homer does on the PP, but he is absolutely USELESS 5 on 5. Doesn't score, doesn't hit, doesn't skate, doesn't run the goalie, doesn't do ANYTHING productive. The best thing he has done this series is elbow a guy in the jaw. That's sad.
-
Did you watch game 3? They added Getzlaf onto that Neidermayer goal. That was just stupid scoring. Other than that, Getzlaf was invisible out there. Lidstrom, Ericcson, and the Zetterberg line shut his ass DOWN. That was the only encouraging thing I took from that game: that they'd figured out how to stop Getzlaf, Ryan, and Perry from looking like they're going to score everytime they're on the ice.

DARREN HELM has all the room he wants. Want to know why? SPEED. Holmstrom = Donkey. Helm = RaceHorse. It's not rocket science. Switch Helm and Holmstrom. Problem solved.
-
The fans just follow how the team and its players act/play. What's sad is that the NHL police (the officials) can actually do something about it during the games and don't. If the Red Wings had the 10 power plays per game against the Ducks that they should have, the Ducks would be forced to play with skill instead of penalties. This would open up their fans to a different brand of hockey instead of the muck they throw out there. Lame.

Nice! I've roof tested a few remote controls after losses, but haven't thrown and chairs out of windows! That's some passion!

Ducks Fan = Raiders Fan without the Darth Vadar mask or the switchblade.

No Doubt.

I could buy that on one call. But it's the whole series. The Wings are continually getting screwed. It's not like the Hossa no-goal was the only thing the officials screwed up on the whole night. The Neidermayer goal was 2 bad plays in a row. Getzlaf slash to Osgood then Neidermayer RUNS Osgood with EVERYONE in the building seeing it clearly EXCEPT the official. When that happens, you know something is off.
-
It's my mom's birthday, and I had to tell her I'd talk to her tomorrow. I want to go through the teleporter with a fly in the pod, get murged into JakeRyanFly, and then go and regurgitate onto that official's hand, since it didn't point at the back of the goal when a clear good goal had been scored anyway. Damn. I'm so fricking pissed.

Babcock needs to give them a winger that can take some of the pressure off. Holmstrom is a zamboni out there 5 on 5. No forwards can play 2 on 3 and be productive.
-
I just think the games need to be called fairly and the rules need to be enforced. Forwards 7-12 of the Ducks should not be allowed to hook the crap out of all the skill players on the Wings, and the goalie for the Ducks shouldn't be allowed to wear equipment twice the size of all the other goaltenders in the league. It's ridiculous looking at the way the two goaltenders play.

http://nhl.fanhouse.com/2007/04/20/the-intent-to-blow-rule/ No wonder this league has a problem drawing fans. The actual game can stop depending on what's going on in the referees mind. This has got to be the DUMBEST "RULE" in a sport that has the benefit of cameras and replay. That call tonight could have been so easily reversed had this stupid rule not been in place. It could have been black and white. Camera with audio shows puck going in, then whistle blows. Bad call by ref overturned. Goal Red Wings. No arguments from EITHER team. OT. Game decided by the players INSTEAD of an out of position referee.

Hey SandMan, I've noticed that all you do is ***** about threads that YOU think need to be shut down? Could you just please not say anything? It's annoying to see that you have NOTHING to add to any conversation EXCEPT "Fail" and "Shut it down" and "Delete this". Stop being a jackass, and just move onto the next thread if you don't like the one you're in. We'll still let you keep your "Hall of Famer" status, even though all of your posts suck. Deal?

I think I agree with you that we need to relax. If the Wings pull off game 4, then we're in a best of 3 with 2 games at home. That's a good position to be in. So it's not quite time to hit the panic button yet. But for God's sake, can people PLEASE realize that the ZETTERBERG LINE IS NOT TO BE TOUCHED. That line is the best two-way line in hockey right now. Speed, skill, and grit. No reason to do anything with that line. Bump Helm up to the Datsyuk line and knock Homer down to the Kopecky line, and the 2nd line for the Wings will get going to. The 2nd line is short on speed right now. Helm can fix that.

What I want to know is WHY would the Ref NOT "intend to blow" the whistle when Neidermayer was RUNNING Chris Osgood, but intend to blow the whistle when he's OUT OF ***** POSITION and can't see the puck regardless of where it is? This makes absolutely NO SENSE. The announcers started the train of thought that the ref wasn't positioned properly, but then quickly held their tongues. Did anyone else notice this? Are the announcers not allowed to say "Boy, the Wings really just got A$$ FKED on this one." Because that's exactly what happened. Everyone can say "Wings should have played for 60 minutes" and "Wings will win game 4 if they truly want to be champs" and "what comes around goes around" and all that other BS. BULLSH!T. What comes around doesn't go around. It ***** comes around for the Wings, fks them right up the A$$, then comes back around and does it again and again and again. THERE is NO ***** WAY the ref should have blown that call dead at that point in the game in the position he was in (out of position). He should have skated around into position, and then made his call. At the 10 minute mark of period 1 in the regular season, sure. I can see the ref looking to give the goalie a little protection. But not at 54 seconds left in game 3 of the 2nd round of the playoffs with the team down a goal attacking with their goalie pulled. That's ***** INSANE. CLEARLY INSANE. I can't put it together as of right now. I just can't see how the Neidermayer call slips by and the Hossa call doesn't. It's clearly something else besides "bad luck". Bad luck would be the ref making that stupid call, but then going over to the scorers desk and asking if the whistle blew BEFORE the puck went in, or if it blew AFTER the puck went in, realizing the whistle blew AFTER the puck went in, and then saying that his GD DM ***** "intent" wasn't any "intent" at all and that he blew the ***** whistle EXACTLY when he thought the play was dead, then calling it a goal because the puck was in BEFORE that happened. That's what BAD LUCK is. GETTING JOBBED is the official saying he intended to blow the whistle when the puck was in clear sight to EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THE PLANET EXCEPT HIM and disallowing a perfectly legitimate goal 99.9% of the other times it is scored in the NHL. That's what getting jobbed is. I'm so furious right now. That had the makings of an all time classic game for the NHL, just like game 2. And that would have made this an all-time classic series for the Wings and the NHL, and that stupid ***** ZEBRA determined the game. NOT the players. I'm not surprised that baseball and basketball still stay ahead of hockey with Bettman and his clowns running this monkey show. It's ridiculous.

Why does everyone on here have a huge hard-on for Tomas Holmstrom? I can't understand it. The guy is a one dimensional player, and needs to only be used in his one dimension. The POWER PLAY. You honestly think that Datsyuk and Hossa wouldn't play better with Helm on the other wing? I can't believe that. That line needs a speed boost so bad, and Helm is the obvious choice. Why can't this SIMPLE move be made?
-
Screwing with the Zetterberg line is the DUMBEST thing Babcock can do. They are playing AWESOME. They are neutralizing Getzlaf and Ryan, while producing on O at the same time. Easiest change to see is the Helm for Homer change. If Babs doesn't do this, he's an idiot. It's clear as day who's the better 5 on 5 player. No reason NOT to make this move.
-
Wait until Rafalski comes back? Yah, cause when we're down 5 games to 1, maybe he can help us clinch game 7. Uggggg
-
Linesman blew that call. Wings were NOT offside there.
-
Let's try shooting it to Hiller's Glove. I think the percentages are in our favor, there.
-
I'll be grumpy all day tomorrow if the Wings don't win. Come on, "Pavzees"!
-
We have all been pointing fingers at all of the players EXCEPT the ONE slow, scoreless, out of place player that needs to be moved down to line #4 to make room for Helm. Tomas Holmstrom. Power Play Specialist. 5 on 5 USELESS.
-
this isn't quite accurate. Outside of sliced arteries (Clint Malarchuk), two types of facial injuries cause blood to gush, making the blood appear darker. Broken jaws and broken noses. I would bet that the puck hit him in ribs or arm where his pads were weak or not there, causing some type of broken rib or deep bruise, and then his jaw was broke by the inadvertant (maybe?) elbow by Holmstrom.
