Ericsson is the defenseman who has looked most out of place to me, lately. It almost seems like Babcock is overplaying him on purpose and throwing him to the sharks.

I'm just saying he's not as bad as everybody thinks he is. He's had a 45-47 year old and a slow-footed rookie as his partner on the 3rd d pairing for the beginning of his career. I think we'd be saying different things about him if he was skating with Nick. For his salary, Brett Lebda is pretty damn decent.

Exactly. Zetterberg is the only player on the Wings that can keep up with Helm. Draper can skate with Helm, but he's not going to provide enough skill. Helm and Zetterberg would terrorize defensemen while entering the zone. This will open up space for Datsyuk to operate. Once Datsyuk's in the zone, he doesn't need a lot of space. But Holmstrom's lack of speed means a lot of hooking and holding in the neutral zone for Datsyuk. And this is why he appears slow and uneffective. The team doesn't have to guard Holmstrom, so they can slack off and pay more attention to Datsyuk. I'm telling you this: When Babcock finally realizes this, things will start getting better for #13.

How can Lebda not be on there?

I'd be awesome at making decisions for the Wings. For example: Helm-Zetterberg-Datsyuk Tatar-Abdelkader-Bertuzzi Holmstrom-Draper-Eaves Matby-Leino-Miller Lidstrom-Ericsson Stuart-Rafalski Meech-Lebda Osgood Howard

The Wings need to get faster and younger. They are getting outskated.

Get Datsyuk with Zetterberg and Helm. That's the way to get out of this mess. SPEED. SPEEK KILLS. It's been said so much that it's a cliche. SPEED KILLS. But in hockey, speed doesn't kill without skill. Helm needs to have skill on his line if he's going to be effective as an offensive player. I am tired of seeing Holmstrom on the top line. GET HIM OFF. Helm-Zetterberg-Datsyuk Do whatever with the rest of the lines. Now that Cleary is hurt and outside of Abdelkader getting better, the rest of the team's forwards are pretty much scrubs by today's NHL standards. Maltby - Scrub May - Scrub Eaves - Scrub Miller - Scrub Draper - Scrub Holmstrom - Scrub Bertuzzi - Scrub All of these guys should be told that if they don't hit, fight, and make the other team hurt when they're on the ice, then they're going to sit. I'm sick of seeing the Wings shoot into the goalie's chest 50 times a night with 1 goal to show for it. We need guys that want to knock the other teams' players on their ass.

I was reading that Phoenix thread and it got me thinking about their departure. Then I started to think of the states that have 2 NHL teams or more, and I wondered why Michigan doesn't? What do you think?

Which country do you think is the number 1 country and why? I think the USA is the number one country for hockey because it's home to the NHL and hockey wouldn't be nearly as popular if Americans weren't keen on it to some degree.

Unfortunately, you could highlight the whole perimeter and call it the "95% of the Red Wings shots into the opposing goalie's chest zone". I don't know why Babcock doesn't tell his players to keep the shots hard and low while crashing the net. That's the style that works now. Colorado scored 4 goals last night that all were of that variety. The Wings seem hell bent on making two great passes to get it to 40 feet away from the goalie on the wing, and then firing it into the goalie's chest with a weak wrist shot. And if they win the face off, same thing. puck back to defenseman, and then right into the goalie's chest again.

But at least the Postitive Peters will listen to the Logical Lucy's.

First things first. Scott Stevens could have his own top 10 ugly incidents article, so he should not be casting stones from the penalty box or anywhere else for that matter. 2nd, This should have at least got honorable mention. I love watching this clip!

In all honesty, if Leino doesn't go see Chelios and get on the juice, he will never be a good NHL'er.
