This is the thing that sucks. How's Helm going to develop playing with 3rd line players? Get him with Datsyuk and see if he develops. If he doesn't do anything for 20 games, then send him back down to 3rd line detail. But at least give him a chance. I think Helm and Datsyuk would rock together.

Jokinen and Kariya are the two I see that the Wings could probably get at a discount. If the Wings can get Jokinen at 4 or less per and Kariya at 3 or less per, do you think they'd want to?

May IS a punching bag. The only thing he can enforce is his son's bed time. Holmstrom plays with a top 5 center (in all the NHL) at all times and gets 1st unit PP time. Do you expect him not to score goals? I expect the guy in his position to put up 40+ goals a season.

Comparing Nick Lidstrom to Tiger Woods is silly. Tiger is an iconic figure and the greatest golfer of all time. Lidstrom is ONE OF the best defensemen to ever play hockey, but not by far and away the best.

Why does he keep going back to putting poisonstrom on Datsyuk's line? Funny how Pavel has 20 points in 24 games, but needs to "get going". As soon as they get Helm with Datsyuk, the sparks will start to fly. For some reason, the coach of the decade can't figure out that Pavel could use a little speed to open up some ice.

I'd like to hear what some upstate New Yorkers have to say about this. I think Minnesota is the number 1 hockey state, followed closely by Michigan. But I've heard upstate New York has some awesome hockey.

Exactly. The USA is more important to hockey because of the NHL than Canada is to hockey. Do not confuse this with hockey being more important to the USA than it is to Canada by percentage. I will concede the latter argument.

And all this is great. I am not saying hockey isn't a great thing to do in Canada. I'm just saying that it would take a serious nose dive EVERYWHERE if the USA didn't promote it.
