It's being discussed in the "If you were the GM" thread.

http://www.redwingscentral.com/stories/200...6_Ericsson.html RWC says Ericsson might be playing in NA this upcoming season, and the Wings have still not made a decision on Blatak or Jamtin.

Fooooooooooook. Would've been a great comeback had they won. I think the series against the Moose took a lot out of them. They never even got a chance to catch their breath and boom they were in this series. The Admirals goalie was very good. Oh well, pack it up and move on.
-
Ugh, they come back from 4-1 down to tie it up in the second but promptly give up a shorthander in the third. Lame. Howard has already seen 40 shots, no idea how he's playing. I think fatigue has caught up to him, he's not used to playing all these games in a row.
-
Bah, down 0-3. Howard has given them a chance to win in both the games he has played in this series, both 1-oal losses. The Griffins gave up goal with 4 minutes to go in the third and lost. Defense is shaky, the Admirals scored two on the PP last night. Offense generates shots but not enough goals. Hudler's line is the line that needs to score for the Griffins to go anywhere, and the Admirals managed to keep them scoreless. Nothing to lose now, might as well play like it.

LOL. Should Bill Clement get this memo so he can stop with the "Nicky Lidstrom" remarks?
-
I think the series against the Moose took a lot out of the Griffins. They didn't get much rest before starting this series. Jimmy played well today but the Griffins couldn't score. Down 0-2, time to dig deep.
-
^^ That works, too. I think the Moose missed Flaherty as well. Drew facing 1 shot in about 23 minutes of action was amazing, though.
-
He was not on top of his game but the defense was also no help as they hung him out to dry. At one point in the first period he had faced 10 shots while the Griffins had countered with 1 SOG. Howard was spectacular in game 5, clearly playing his best game of the series then. In that game he put out a clinic. He was also excellent in games 2 and 3, and was named the second and first star of those games respectively. Many times in this series he made the big save when needed and some more. His coach went far enough to say the bigger the moment, the better Howard plays. Yes, he should've done better in game 7 but I expect all of this is still new to him. After MacIntyre took over for him at the end of the second period and until the end of the game, Drew faced 1 SOG. That goes to show how much the Griffs tightened up their defense and raised their game to pull out this win. So far Jimmy's having a good playoffs and I'm glad the Griffins are moving on so he can keep this journey going.

True. I think Filppula still needs to add some muscle to his body. He's never going to be overly big but probably the way Hank has filled out now. He's solid on both ends of the ice but needs a little more time with the farm team. Hudler, I think is ready for his shot. I would like to see him play on Lang's line next year at J-Will's spot. That should give him around 12 minutes a night to start the season with. If he does well, he can be promoted to Hank's wing, where he will have the benefit of playing with a savvy playmaker and a big linemate in Homer. Bootland has played on the PK and PP units in Grand Rapids. What are the chances of him seeing some time with the Wings next season? He could take a spot on the 4th line. There's your grit and your PK replacement for Malts or Cleary. If he keeps his PIMs down, he's got a good shot.

What I don't get is why the Griffins defense goes to sleep for some stretches. For two periods the Moose were all over the Griffins, then in the third they had 1 measely shot on goal. WTF? Tighten up defense, not the first time they've done this.
-
GRIFFINS WIN 5-4!!!!!!!!!! Bootland with the game winner. Filppula had 2 goals, Hudler assisted on all 5 Griffins goals. MacIntyre who took over in the third for Howard faced all of 1 shot. Wow, what a win!

Griffins beat the Moose to take a 2-1 series lead. Good to hear

Maybe this will put the Datsyuk rumors to rest?

There are several threads on these so called rumours. Please keep it one as they discuss the same thing. Thanks. And Datsyuk will be 28 in July. -
Liv likely to jump the pond, but not Grigorenko
FunkyBlueFish203 replied to betterREDthandead's topic in Prospects
Eh. I think this is just a ploy to try and get more money out of Holland. Liv did say that he wanted to come over to NA, and the Wings are willing to sign him. To add a line on Grigorenko, he's on the World Hockey Championship team competing in Latvia right now. Ovechkin is the only player on that team from the NHL. IgGrig is on the 4th line. On one hand it's great that he got a shot but on the other hand, it's sad that this kid was first line material a couple of years ago. Anyway. He's basically staying in Russia for one more year to work on getting his speed back as his game is speed-oriented, and he would like his top spot back on the national team. Hope it works out for him. -
On to round 2 against the Moose. Griffins lost the first game 3-1. Won the second game 3-2. Howard with 28 saves was named the second star.

Griffins face Toronto best-of-seven North Division
FunkyBlueFish203 replied to WesternWing's topic in General
Griffins won game 4, 3-2 with Bootland scoring the GWG. They rallied to win game 5 in OT, Ellis scored the GW. On to round 2 where they'll face the winner of Syracuse-Manitoba. -
Old news. Howard has been the man in GR for quite a while now. MacIntyre started tonight because Jimmy was called up. MacDonald is not expected back soon.
-
A combination of both. He wasn't his steady self but his defense also hung him out to dry.
-
Lost the second game 6-3. Won the third game 4-1, 35 saves. Only game on a 5-on-3 PP for the Marlies. Named 2nd star of the game.
-
Played in his first professional playoff game tonight. 42 saves. Griffins won 6-5 in triple OT.
-
Please keep it in the GDT.

http://www.theahl.com/AHL/News/2006/04/13/1533295.html Patrick O'Sullivan won the rookie of the year. Good to see him do well. He's had a rough upbringing with all the drama with his father. Best wishes to him in making the big club next season.
