Here's a different point of view... send Lilja down to the minors until he won't count against the cap. There is no way that anyone picks him up. With his salary and long term concussion that he's coming off of, he won't get claimed. Let him play some more games in GR then bring him in when they can.

Lidstrom I think will be back. Probably a 2 year contract at 6 mil. per. He'll be worth it by the end of 2 years, then go on a per year basis after that. To me he still has a lot left in the tank to be our top defenceman. Unless he doesn't like playing hockey I don't see him retiring a Red Wing just yet. He may want to play in Europe some day but only if he can't play as a top dman in the NHL.

Is it because Leino is on a one way contract that he can't be sent down? He was playing for G.R. last year on the same contract so I'm confused why he would have to be waived if sent down.

If Miller doesn't do well early in the game, you'll see Helm worked in on the 2nd line.

He's just bad karma. Remember him dropping the Stanley Cup. That did it for me. He should be the one waived and Janik stays when Big E and Kronner come back.

The thing with Cleary is that he gives it 100% every shift. The Wings have more players on they're team like that than any other team in the NHL. To make the Wings roster you follow players like Cleary. Future Captain or Alternate.

1. Lock up Hudler for 3 years at $2.2 and see what happens. He's wants to stay and it would be a shame if he becomes the consistant 20-30 goal scorer somewhere else. 2. Keep Meech (see below) 3. I think Lilja starts in the minors because of his concussion. If there's still no word that he's symptom free, it's going to be the safest and best thing for both parties. It's not really a demotion but more of a precaution. After a couple of months, Meech would have played enough to keep or showcase and also, by my calculations, you can also give a few bubble boys from the minors a chance to play. Whoever plays the best out of training camp. That includes McCarty, Downie, McGrath, Oulahen, and a few others that have played a couple years in the minor system.
