Lets think COMPLETELY outside of the box for one minute...

Is this the dream, or the dream within the dream? I think we need DiCaprio for this one. -
I'm one of the few who agree with you. I think Franzen could net the Wings a great return. If the contract were shorter, I wouldn't consider trading him, but it is too long IMO.
-
It's reported he asked to be traded or he was going back to the KHL. CBJ was lucky to get anything.
-
He bolted for the KHL one year, and reportedly was a disturbance in the AHL last year while not producing. What more do you need to realize he's been nothing but a cancer to CBJ.? Have you ever seen him play or are you just going on his draft report? There is a reason CBJ wasn't offered more for him.
-
Why? He's regressed with CBJ and has been a distraction for the organization. They likely took the best offer available.
-
It was his first year fighting, so I'll take his willingness as a positive. I've watched all his fights he doesn't seem to deliberately pick on smaller players. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if the older (smaller) players are trying to test him. Most of his fights are agreed on beforehand, or he is challenged. The knee was bad, but it was also a reaction play and most players do that at least once in their career (instinct over thinking). I'd be happy if he turns out to be a punishing shut-down dman, as it is a need for the Wings.

If Filatov is worth a 3rd rounder, Hudler should have been worth more.

Habs shopping Wisniewksi's rights + for a 2nd rounder

Because if he can be signed before then, it eliminates the possibility of another team offering him a large (overpayment) contract and singing him. -
Biggs was ranked higher than his pick by many scouts.
-
Burns in play according to TSN.
-
The next few years the contract is great. However, Mule is only getting older and more injury prone.
-
On the front-end, I'm fine with Huds or Mule being traded (love Mule, hate his contract). Hopefully we see some big improvments today (and July 1).

From what I've read, Schenn's upside is Richards. This is second hand info, but it seems to be the majority opinion. I think the Flyers can win this in the long-term (depending on development and the goalie situation), but LA and Columbus win in the short-term. Columbus needs to make the playoffs soon (how they do in the playoffs is the next step), and Carter is a big step toward that.
-
Edmonton is the last team that needs Hudler, but this deal would be amazing IMO.
-
I believe the NHL owns the rights and will give them to the team if they request it.
-
Realistically, he would only take a spot away from Hudler, Emmerton, or Miller. The best option IMO is for Jagr to replace Hudler.

Yeah- it happens every year. I'm just surprised they don't give analysis or turn off the mic when it does happen. I'm glad they don't (although I understand if any parent are upset) because we are allowed to experience more of the emotion from the players. NBC coverage ended just after 11pm est unfortunately. -

Censorship be damned. The word f*** is running rampant tonight on NBC. -
Like who? Emmerton? Hudler? I don't want the Wings to sign Jagr for any amount of large money, but I'd take him for under 2.5 million on a one year deal.

I can't believe NBC showed that quote as he was getting pulled. Awesome troll there. -

Diving already haha. That was actually one of the weaker dives. -
If you look at the box-scores for the games, you will see that a lot of the penalties weren't two minute penalties, as there are additional minutes for fighting in the last five minutes. Also, if you look at the box-scores for the games you will see that there are a lot of penalties in general. With that said, he does/did take some really bad penalties (kneeing, unsportsmanlike, etc.). However, he is committed to play college hockey next year, so I'm sure that problem will be addressed. Defensemen who score a lot of points may get the majority of attention these days, but that doesn't mean shut-down defenders are irrelevant. You need a solid shut-down guy to cover for the high-scoring defensemen most of the time. These guys don't get all of the attention, but that doesn't make them less valuable. If Mayfield becomes as good as Pronger in his prime, than we should pick him 11 out of 10 times. There is no evidence that Mayfield is disliked in the locker-room or has an attitude, even though he plays on the edge. Please don't speak to a player's character without doing the research. The kid wants to play great defense and be physical- who else would he choose to look up to while he was growing up? In the 'new NHL' Pronger would be suspended for those hits and I think Mayfield would want to play instead of being constantly suspended. In fact, I think this quote probably summarizes why he plays how he does in the USHL, and that he is liked by him teammates. “For them to cheap shot Mayfield,” we had to step up,” Paulides said. Carr wasn’t surprised. “We preach to be physical, be a family, to stand up for one another,” Carr said.
