    will the wings re-sign modano?

I agree with the players you mention. However, Boll and Campbell aren't UFAs after this season. There are always a few good guys available in the off-season- last year Prust, Konopka, Boll, etc were there and I'm sure there will be others this year. This is probably a topic best served for the off-season, but as you probably know by now, I hope the Wings can pick someone up like the players you mentioned. EDIT- I was a Carcillo fan before this year, but he does too much talking and not enough fighting. A couple weeks ago against the Leafs he mouthed off to the Leafs' bench, then mouthed off to Brown and cross-checked him. Brown challenged him and Carcillo skated away. I'm all for getting under the other team's skin, but I believe there needs to be some amount of honor in a player's game. I saw that from Carcillo when he was with Phoenix, but I haven't seen it much from him since.

    will the wings re-sign modano?

I'd say that two of Modano, Eaves, Miller, and Draper are staying. At this point, I'm not sure who the two will be (although one (or both) of Miller and Eaves is likely).

Big Ten Hockey Conference coming today...

I need to make it to one of those games. I played ACHA hockey during my undergrad, but I was too busy to make it to any of the OSU ACHA games this year.

Modano is lazy and he sucks and he scores. Am I doing it right? Seriously, Modano needed that one as much as the team.

This won't change those OSU-OU games since they are ACHA.

Big Ten Hockey Conference coming today...

Arkansas is a good DIII ACHA south team, but they failed to make nationals this year and didn't do too well at nationals last year. IMO they should stay in DIII and only move up when/if they begin to dominate DIII. Otherwise, moving up from being a top-10 DIII south team to being an average DII team is useless IMO.

Which OU are you referring to? Both Oklahoma and Ohio only have ACHA teams, and this shouldn't affect OSU's DII ACHA team.

Is plus/minus the definitive stat? Absolutely not, but it is a good measure for a third/fourth liner whose main objective is to play solid, defensive hockey. Abby has always been a big hitter who will back up his play when challenged. He has 153 hits on the season, which is 29 more than the second biggest DRW hitter with only 64 gp. Because people on LGW have anointed him the toughest player doesn't mean he will be. I'd like to anoint Dats to be 100+ point player every year, but I'm not going to ***** when he doesn't score each game. The bowing lessons have been taken so out of context on this forum. He stated that he wouldn't go looking for fights. If you ask Eaves (or anyone else on the team), I bet he would say the same thing. Bringing up Eaves isn't deflecting. Abby has one more NHL fight than Eaves (equal if you don't include preseason). Abby is a hitter, and therefore I expect him to take hits and not fight afterward unless they are blatantly dirty. Eaves was repeatedly punched in the back of the head- I don't know about you, but I'd be more likely to fight after being punched than questionably hit. Would I like to see Abby fight more? Absolutely. Do I expect Abby to fight more? Probably. Do I think Abby should be expected to fight while other players shouldn't? No. If you're going to expect Abby to fight, I see no reason why you shouldn't also expect E, Bert, or Eaves to fight.

I agree (as usual). It gets to me that everyone thinks Abby is an enforcer when you and I know Abby is much more like Clutterbuck and Drake than Orr and Boogard. Eaves, E, and Bert are just as capable of standing up for the team, but somehow it is Abby's fault when the team gets pushed around. To set the record straight, he is a quote from Abby about the boxing lessons, "If you're going to fight, you've got to know how to fight. I'm not going to go around looking for it, but if it's going to happen, you've got to prepare yourself for it."

3 point in his last five games, and a +12 rating- what more do you want? Are you thinking of Eaves or Abby? I saw Abby hit a few times, but Eaves was punched in the back of the head at least three times by Franson within one shift. I don't know why everyone on here rags on Abby for not fighting when Eaves, Miller, E, Bert, etc can all fight. Would I like to see Abby fight more? Yes, but Holland or Babcock has never anointed him the Wings' enforcer and he has never expressed an interest in being the Wings' enforcer. Therefore, don't expect it to happen.

So we can't comment on the stats of any forwards not in the Wings' top-6 because they aren't usually out against the other team's top-2 lines? I'm still not seeing your point. If Abby (or the Wings' bottom two lines) was so terrible defensively, wouldn't other teams match their top lines against him?

Where's the logic here? Abby has been on the ice for 12 more goals for than goals against. He regularly plays 11+ minutes (recently) and has been on the third line the past few games. Why do 'quality minuetes' matter? If that were the case, how terrible are the other third and fourth liners with a lower plus/minus? The bottom two lines having been playing really well lately.

I agree. Erat plays like that a lot- and as I said in the GDT, I am waiting for him to get fed one of these days. I also noticed O'Brien acting tough against Bert all game. The punches to Eaves' head were also terrible, but I guess I understand him trying to draw a penalty. From a Wings' toughness perspective, this game was terrible all-around. I didn't remember seeing that quote either. If that is true, than I am a bit disappointed that Abby hasn't stepped up more.

I understand where you're coming from, but why does it have to be Abby? There were 17 other players on the Detroit bench that could have stood up for their teammates, and E, Miller, Bert, Eaves are just as good (or better) at fighting. I'd like to see someone stand up for the team, but I don't know why Abby has magically inherited the role. He is just the scapegoat for the team not having Boll, Prust, Rosehill, etc that I (and other posters) advocated signing/trading for in the off-season. I don't know why posters here think Abby should be this team's enforcer.

Why do we need PP's then? Having the extra man is huge for control in the offensive zone. If the team can't control it with 6, they likely won't with 5.

"Pick up your man, not your nose." Brilliant insight from the Pred's announcers.

Thanks to the fan who threw the fake catfish. Gave the Wings a nice rest on the icing.

That was ridiculous. Would have liked to see Eaves take out a few teeth there with the old-time stick to the teeth. What the hell are the refs thinking there? It's cool, he's just punching him in the back of the head....

    Colton Orr career maybe over

Doubt he'll be back unless the Leafs start losing again. This is great news and I hope he can come back full time next season and be injury free.

True. Every Preds game I watch I root for someone to drop um and fill him in- I doubt he would ever oblige though. It only takes the removal of one rule though....(which won't happen unfortunately)

Do the Pred's announcers not have a tv in the booth? They spent a minute talking about the great save on Modano before they were told it went off the bar. Also, I have always hated Erat for some reason. I think it's his name.
