I think the PP is where Abby's play is best. Over the course of lat season, his play in front of the net improved greatly.

What can the Wings do with Sammy, other than a regular buy out when he is healthy? I think there has to be a trade on the horizon. However, I am surprised the Wings would make this move before the trade occurring. The Wings also have to worry about the RFA signings when it comes to the cap and roster room.

Only possible explanation is that Sammy and Bert are confirmed to be on LTIR for the entire season. I think it's clear that Emmerton is gone, but I'm also not sure how this will work with the Miller signing unless Eaves and/or Tootoo are going to be off the roster as well.

He's not expendable to the team because of his physical play. Similarly, unless Bert is healthy, Abby might not be expendable in the top-6. I also don't see Babcock putting both Tatar and Nyquist in the top-6 top start the season.

I wouldn't be so sure. He lead the team in ES goals and didn't play the entire season in the top-6. Unless Bert is healthy, it is likely Abby stays with Dats.

Sammy and Emmerton are the first in line IMO.

I think he's gone with Tatar taking his place. With the cap, and Tatar's more rounded play, it might not be the worst thing for the Wings. That is, if they have to choose between the two, I am happy if they choose Tatar. Both would be great, but I don't see any room in the roster.

Bozak, McLaren, and looks like Clarkson. Other than McLaren, the other deals don't look great. -
I think he was great for the Wings. Unfortunately, there isn't any room for him in the top-6 or bottom-6. I hope he has success with another team.

I think Abby has shown that he can take over Cleary's role- I don't see where the Wings have room for Cleary.

I know the compliance issue, but I wasn't sure if there are non-injury restrictions on normal buyouts during the regular season.

I haven't been able to find the rule, but are the Wings able to buy him out (non-compliance) during the regular season? That is, can he start the years on LTIR and be bought out if healthy?

Who? I would have liked to see Alfredsson retire in Ottawa, but if he has to move for one year I'm happy it's to the Wings. I'm not sure what downside there is to this deal, especially when all other UFAs are rumored to get overpaid. -
The Leafs are in the process of buying out Grabovski. With Flip leaving and Brunner possibly leaving, he could be a (relatively) cheap option for the Wings 2C position.
