$8.625 million AAV...wow. I'm glad the Wings did not get him at that price.

Pearce is on the way out and it looks like McCollum may be too. I don't know much about this guy, but more depth on GR/Toledo is never a bad thing.

He does have size, but he doesn't use it to be physical. IMO he needs to pick up his hitting to be a good fit for the fourth line when Helm returns. He is a decent forechecker but he lacks the tenacity to wear down other teams' D. It's less of a worry in the regular season, but in the playoffs each opportunity for a fourth liner to make a hit needs be to taken.

One period. IMO a summer of hard training will help Tatar and Nyquist. They both have all of the skills, but a little more strength on the puck and in the corners would help them immensely.

Since his injury, Horton hasn't been as physical as he was in past seasons. I hope he can get that part of his game back, but I don't think he is enough for the Wings' top-6. A productive Clowe, which is not happening so far this season, would be a great addition to the top-6. Looking at the Wings' prospects, and the move to the east next season, the Wings will need some additions from outside the organization in the next few years with Bert retiring or going on LTIR.

Brunner's last two games haven't been great. Hopefully he can reset during the three day rest period and come out strong. He has been learning defensively and he has been better in the corners, but he needs to figure out how to combine the defensive game with his offensive game. IMO Andersson needs to step up his physical play. Currently, he is averaging about the same amount of hits/game as Flip. If he can add some tenacity to his game, he should be able to replace Emmerton next season. Right now, I'm not sure where he fits with Helm as the 3C, and the fourth line focusing on checking.

I think Dats likes having a bigger body on his wing to create space and work in the corners. With Bert out, Abby is the best Wing for that job. I don't think that Abby would stay with Dats if Bert returns. I wouldn't be suprised if the Wings take a look at Clowe, or a similar player, in the off-season if Bert is going to be on LTIR

They play hard and they play well as a team. I think CBJ is using these attributes to take advantage of a lot of tired teams in the middle of the season. This could be a turning point for them, or it could be a simple hot streak. I hope they get it turned around and can become more competative over the full season next year.
