1/12 GDT : Coyotes 2 at Red Wings 3 (SO)

Drinking further, this IPA isn't that good. At $10 a six pack, there are much better options. How is that pomegranate wheat? I'm not big on stouts. -

Trying a Brew Free or Die IPA tonight. Pretty good. Snow is coming down pretty good right now down here. -

That's interference, but a Wing being hit into Howard is not? -

My feed is a bit behind today. I'll have to refresh less- the Flip goal was called here just before I saw it. -

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=610343 The NHLPA has refused to approve the proposed realignment.

If they weren't UFA's after this season, you would be correct. Their contracts substantially decrease their trade value- i.e. teams see the players as a rental.
-
IMO you would need to replace the pick/prospect with Mule for that trade to work for Anaheim. Both Stuart and Hudler will need to be re-signed, and Stuart's possible move gives any west coast team less incentive to trade a major asset for him. The Ducks have said they need a core player in return for a core player. Stuart is a core player, but his contract situation brings his value down. Further, Hudler is not IMO a core player, and he also has a contract situation.

There is a high value on that type of player in the draft since 15+ points/year in the NHL is usually 30+ points/year in the CHL. The Wings may have gotten lucky with Callahan, but these players are difficult to find. This is further exaggerated because most of the CHL fighters aren't great players (like the NHL, most fighters are not top-6 players). I would be happy if the Wings used one first round pick for this in the coming 5 drafts. That is, one Prust type per 10 years is enough. The Wings don't need to do this constantly, but choosing this type of player once every 5-10 years would keep a good stock of this type of player. This is assuming this type of player is available. The Wings should not waste a pick if that type of player isn't available, but they should capitalize on the opportunity if that type of player is available.

Shawn Thornton had a great quote recently. He was asked if Marchand was 'going to get it' one of these days. Thornton simply replied 'not while I'm here'. I'm not condoning dirty plays, but team toughness does increase when a player has that mentality about sticking up for his teammates.

Boll is perfect for the Wings. Last night he was involved in two fights and the others player received an instigator both times. Boll can give the Wings power plays and fights.

Did you watch the game? I was for Joey Mac during the off-season, but this loss had nothing to do with Conklin.

Anyone know why Commie hasn't played?
-
That was halarious.

Flip cannot buy a goal tonight.

So close Flip.

My gf made some cookie dough- maybe that will make this better.

Any forward feel like picking up the trailer? That was a bad defensive play.

Was out at dinner until now. How are the Wings playing? The shot differential isn't looking good.
