I thought it was interesting that Commie filled in for Dats during the morning skate. Will the Wings be able to fly anyone in before the game tonight? If not, you would think they would go with three solid forward lines with E filling in on the fourth if needed and playing as the 7th defensemen.

I agree. If the Wings lose, it will likely come as a result of poor play. If the Wings win, it is expected. It looks like Conklin is getting the nod- I'm excited. Howard has earned a rest and there are a lot of games in the coming weeks before the all-star break.

I've played. The hit is certainly dirty. If suspensions are based on danger, is this hit more dangerous than the hit on Abby last week? I would say Marchand was 'dirtier', but I don't think it was as dangerous. I would have liked the NHL video to mention the difference between the play in question and a clean hip check. Obviously the knees are important in the rule book, and I would have liked to see this difference explained further.

I agree. It was a dirty play, but I think 5 and a game plus a fine are enough. To me, there is a very blurred line between a hip check and a clip and I wouldn't want to job of determining what is and is not a hip check.

E doesn't need anyone to step in. Team toughness is always having your teammate's back. Commie didn't need to step in, but him stepping in sends a message. You don't f*** with any of his teammates without going through him. -

It's a good call. It's his first game back and that line desperately needs his speed. The third line has been great lately as well (with Abby and with Helm before). -

Me too. I was surprised to see that statistic last night. As I've said, I like Mule but his contract length is excessive. I would trade Mule for Ryan, Perry, or Getzlaf. To me, Mule has the most value outside of Dats and Z. His contract is what makes me offer him in this thread- not necessarily his current play.
