IMO Nyquist and Miller should be swapped. -
Howard's comments are likely the reason Commie has been playing the past few games. Kindl has been fine, but he doesn't provide the same physical presence as Commie.

Similarly, Conklin wasn't signed until July 20th because he is not a highly-regarded goalie at this stage in his career. MacDonald isn't a great goalie. Conklin isn't a great goalie. IMO the difference is which has the confidence of the team.

From what I remember (there have been a lot) most of the 'charging' suspensions have been from plays that involve direct contact to the head or force the head into the boards. Thus, I don't think this hit will warrant a call from the league. There are hits in (almost) every game that involve a player leaving his feet. Lapierre left his feet for a check last night. IMO both are nothing more than a two minute penalty (if seen, like any penalty). Further discipline should be based on the contact (directly to the head or forcing the head into the boards) and the violence of the hit. To me, Kronner's hit did not effect the head, and it was not excessively violent.

I can see how the goal can be called either way. The most surprising part of the play IMO was the push to Lids after the goal- Lids was just standing there. I didn't see this live, but here is a video of the Kesler knee-on-knee. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQqFNehnpSU

AVs fan growing up I believe.

No worries. Just wondering, as stats are often manufactured.
-
Kesler mad?
-
Does that statistic include the people destroying property and the people standing around watching/taking pictures? Technically, they were both part of the riot (after a riot is declared, all persons in the specified zone are subject to arrest I believe).

Great enforcing by Scott here. The instigator call was reaching IMO.

To me, I think this has gained attention because a government agency is calling for a french-speaking coach. Although (I believe) they don't any power to force the team, it is not ordinary to see a government official/section have a stated opinion on the coach of a hockey team. Can you speak to the demographic in Montreal (and Quebec) that does not speak english? I know there is a significant population that only speaks french, but I haven't been able to find statistics. IMO being bilingual is important for the eventual coach, but being a competent NHL-level coach should be more important.

Great Bert mini-interview. Best gift was a snowmobile. It was crashed within 45 minutes.
