By the rule, they can only use that rule if the puck is not being played. Therefore, when Philly skated around and passed within their zone they were playing/moving the puck. I believe the NHL called the officials during a stoppage to clarify this rule. The referees were told not to interfere with the coaching strategies as long as the puck was being moved.

I agree. I'm not sure how one team can be singled out for this happening. I hope the league doesn't make a knee-jerk reaction with any changes. FWIW Philly scored first, despite the trap- Tampa then stopped playing the trap. I'm not sure if it was implemented as severely after Tampa tied the game. Tampa did win, but it wasn't because Philly sat back on their breakout.

Downie and Coburn last night. Downie was doing well early, but Coburn got his uppercuts going late.

Philly just tried it again, but Tampa attacked after ~10 seconds. With Tampa down, I don't think we'll see it much more. I'm not sure if either team is to blame. If Philly thinks they'll get beat, I can't blame them. The same applies to Tampa.

I don't know how many times I've posted this- Brunnstrom has to earn that spot. He couldn't make the Leafs or Stars last season, and he needs to prove his skill. I'm glad we're giving him that chance, but that position should not be gifted to him- he needs to earn it and be better than Bert, Cleary, Huds, Homer, or Abby (assuming the second line remains as-is). Edit- He also passed through waivers.

I haven't seen that confirmed. The M-Live article mentioned that Commie filled in at forward a bit (he won't play forward), so it's my guess that he won't play. With that said, he did play well in his first two games.

I cannot understand why so many posters believe Brunnstom should be given a spot in the top-6. He could not crack the NHL roster of the Leafs or Stars last season. I'm all for letting him earn that spot, but I don't think it should be given to him, especially above Cleary and Hudler/Bert when they are healthy. -

Flip is on the second line. Helm didn't practice but it expected to play. Therefore, the third line is likely Abby- Helm- Eaves. -

He has to earn it. We're talking about a player that's been in the AHL because he couldn't crack an NHL roster. With that said, his first few shifts were great. As the game went along, his compete level went down IMO.
