Dive implies he went down by choice. IMO Abby did not go down by choice, regardless of arm action.

Nyquist likely won't make the team, because he would be spending some/most of the games in the press-box. Therefore, his development is better served by playing a lot of minutes in the AHL. IMO he only makes this team at the expense of Hudler, which is unlikely.

I loved seeing Abby get up and try to fight MacArthur. The staged fights I don't like on the surface, but I am okay with them when a game is getting out of hand, or when an enforcer steps in so a skill player doesn't have to fight unwillingly. Similarly, I don't generally like fights after clean hits, but when the clean hit is dangerous I don't mind. An example is below.

Agree. I don't agree with all/many of the suspensions, but Shanahan has been consistent.

Flip- Dats- Homer Bert- Z- Mule Huds- Abby- Cleary Brunnstrom- Helm- Eaves Miller, Emmerton Lids- White Kronner- Stuart Commie- E Kindl IMO Homer is most effective when playing with two skilled players, so he needs to be on the top two lines with Cleary, Eaves, Abby, etc double-shifting in Homer's position throughout the game.

The lineup for Friday has been released. Valtteri Filppula-Henrik Zetterberg-Johan Franzen Justin Abdelkader-Darren Helm-Todd Bertuzzi Gustav Nyquist-Cory Emmerton-Tomas Holmstrom Chris Conner-Joakim Andersson-Landon Ferraro Nicklas Lidstrom-Ian White Niklas Kronwall-Doug Janik Brian Lashoff-Garnet Exelby (Brad Stuart also was listed on the roster the team sent out, but he's been ruled out of the preseason due to a sore groin). Jimmy Howard Jordan Pearce I was hoping to see Callahan, but it looks like he won't get any pre-season games.

Nyquist won't be in the press-box when he can be playing top minutes in the AHL. Commie will play, and if Stuart is healthy, Kindl will sit. Judging from last year, if one of Abby or Helm is centering the third line, it will be Abby. Also, I don't think Homer will start the game on the fourth line, but he will likely play fourth line minutes will Abby, Eaves, Helm, etc filling in for him throughout the game.

Hopefully Ben Smith is okay. I think Smith's (Wings) reaction shows he didn't want to do that, but it certainly was a bad hit.

The offense was lacking the the Wings were good about keeping the Hawks from setting up in the neutral zone.

I'm amazed that events still do this with technology used to track seat sales. Hopefully everything gets resolved for you.

He has the skill to put up a good season, but his effort is the question. I expect him to start strong, but who knows what'll happen by mid-season.

I don't think they want Helm to play wing, but I could be wrong. It is possible that Conner could get picked up on waivers, but it's unlikely this early in the season IMO. I see Johnson's tryout as more of a favor than anything else.

I honestly thought you would like Smith. Like many of the forwards you do like, he has an immense amount of raw skill. Smith just needs some time to put it together before making the jump.

I don't see him on the fourth line, but he could play there. iMO Conner is closer to the last spot because his speed matches with Helm and Eaves the best.

HNIC had a really nice tribute last night too.
