Guess the Richards deal wasn't so good for Tampa. First Jokinen and now Smith. Wonder if he ends up in Carolina.

I'm travelling to AMERICAA! (well Canada actually) in February with my GODFATHER. First flying to Toronto, watching Ottawa-Toronto there and then travelling to Detroit to see Stars-Wings. After that from the otherside off the pond (Erie) back to Toronto doing some sightseeing along the way. Few days at Niagara Falls also. Maybe I'll see some of you guys as well.

Is Barret Jackman the worst Calder Trophy winner ever?
Finnish Wing replied to Nev's topic in General
Have to agree with this even though I'm his countrymen. Nashville has along with Boston the most defensive system in the league. Guys like Weber, Suter and Hamhuis make it a lot easier for goalie to playe. Mason deserved his calder. Rinne is the better of the two currently though. -
Kinda feel bad for Kessel. He was really awkward out there. But at the same time... LOL KESSEL GOT PICKED LAST!!! : DDD edit: That system is horrible however. They should pick the last four randomly.

The Finnish Flash. Also, Lame-O.

How exactly, care to explain? The guy had a career season last year, was one of the best in the league in regular season. The only thing Tampa failed with him was not re-signing him.

I don't see SM-liiga being a better overall league in terms of level of the players. Maybe that was the case 5 or 10 years ago - when SM-liiga was maybe considered the second best league in the world - but not anymore. I'd like him to get used to longer season and more physical game in the AHL. Neither one is a bad choice though.Boy am I glad that he didn't do what Rajala did last year by going to CHL. That was a major mistake by Rajala and he didn't develop at all there. Pulkkinen has gotten a lot of ice time and offensive responsibility all the time this season.

Ducks Sued for Anti-Semitism by Former Draft Pick

Whatever, I'm an ateist myself... -
It's basically like a loan. Same with Hudler last year and Pulkkinen now for example.
-
Pulkkinen has signed a new two-year contract with Jokerit, keeping him with the club until 2013 spring. Dunno what this means regarding Grand Rapids for example? Will he actually stay in Finland for two more years? Because he's already one of the best players in the league. Anyway, here's the article. "– It's good for him to still continue here [in Finland] and grow better in different areas of the game and get some muscle. The NHL and IIHF contract makes it possible for player to leave even if under a contract, but hopefully two years is enough to have him prepared to jump straight into the rock solid Detroit Red Wings line up, Kekäläinen says." edit: added Kekäläinen's comment (my own translation)

Prust yes, Konopka no, Rupp no. I'd like a player who can fight, but still play 5on5 hockey on the level this system demands (and doesn't take stupid penalties constantly).High school graduate, just finished military service.

I gave you a +1 for being honest.

Just said I'd like to see a poll. Take it easy. : D

Four (5) Changes Scotty Bowman Would Like To See
Finnish Wing replied to Louisville's topic in General
It isn't so black and white. OT/SO loss is more valuable than a regular time loss. Also, your system has the same flaw the current system has: some games are "valuabel" than others. The bottom line is that in every game the same amount of points should be given, regardless if it's ends after regular time, overtime or shootout.Your system would reward 3 points for the teams if the game ends after regular and only 2 point total if it goes to the OT. This basically means 1 point magically disappears after 60 minutes. It also means that OT:s would basically be useless as many teams would just play for the tie. I still say the "European" system (win 3, OT win 2, OT loss 1, loss 0) is the best. But the soccer system (win 3, tie 1, loss 0) wouldn't be bad either if you want to encourage teams to play more offensive hockey, hate the shootouts and don't mind seeing ties. Though that also has the same flaw of having games of different point value, but maybe that's the point of the whole system; to make teams want the W more. -

Does this mean you could always have rest of the team inside that box trying to get to the loose pucks and blocking the other side of the rink?edit: spelling -
I'd like to see this kinda poll: Enforcer - yes/no ? Post a picture of yourself. What level of education do you have? Just out of curiosity.

Four (5) Changes Scotty Bowman Would Like To See

I'd only change the point system. The current system doesn't value all games the same amount of points, which is wrong IMO. The current system in most(?) European league is good: 3 for win, 2 for OT/SO win, 1 for OT/SO loss and 0 for loss. If you hate shootouts, then maybe they should change the OT the way Holland (or was it Babcock?) wanted; 5 min 4vs4 and 5 min 3vs3 or something like that. Maybe I'd go for the no-touch icing as well. The touch icing just gives too much weight on skating and less on skill (=actually passing the puck and playing the game), it also causes more injuries to d-men. -
I don't think this is correct. Red Wings currently own his rights. This would work differently than with case Nabokov.
