No, like I said: Leino sucked at the time of the trade, but his potential was still worth more than a 5th rounder. You knew about his potential as well.Is an average 5th rounder NHL-caliber player? Because Leino always had the potential to be one and it seems like he finally is one. I suggested that we'd somehow kept him as the 13th forward, because he had the potential even though he sucked at the time. It was pretty impossible due the cap, but that doesn't make the trade look any better IMO.

I was talking about the trade value of 5th round pick. It doesn't make it any higher even if we have great scouting. It's still a 5th rounder and sure, it COULD end being another Datsyuk or Zetterberg. If we had a 4th rounder the chance is even greater though. It isn't like we only draft good players with late picks.Our scouting can make the trade look better, but as said, the trade was still basically Leino -> 5th round draft pick. Leino's potential - even if he sucked at the time - was more valuable than an average 5th rounder back when the trade happened, that's the point. You could say that we got something out of nothing as Leino was FA signing. But if you only look at that trade, it is what it is. The fact that we draft well can chance the final outcome, but it still doesn't make that trade any better.

5th rounder is still a 5th rounder. Just because we've drafted good at late picks in the past doesn't make that 5th rounder basically any valuable. We could've gotten a 4th rounder for example, which is always better.We have good scouting yes, but that doesn't really make that trade look any better to me.

I'm definitely expecting a lot from Flyers if they manage to get a real goalie. They went through all these goalie problems and injuries and got to the Finals.Guys like Giroux, JVR, Leino and Hartnell can provide more in the next regular season as well. They also don't have really any guys that are becoming too old. I think Flyers are contenders next season if they get a goalie.

Pronger wasn't really even good in the Finals. Had one terrible game (-5) and nothing too special either. I'd say even Timonen was better than Pronger.Briere was the number one guy for the MVP and Leino was the second IMO.

I think it could be pretty hard for the players to play 82 games a season if the OT ended only when other team scores. Also, I bet no player would be happy with a tie either.

One thing I didn't notice was that Leino had a plus minus of +10, which tied 3rd with Sharp after Zetterberg and Campbell.

He blocked a shot tonight by the way. I think the big difference is that Leino is a winger and Datsyuk is a center. Leino is supposed to defend against the opposition d-men.

LOL, I wondered that myself as well. Blocking shots ain't always about effort though. It can be pretty dangerous if you don't know how to do it, and that's why some players don't do it very often.Anyway, he even got the puck away from their own zone after that block.

Hartnell totally sucked earlier this season. I think the Flyers fans know better than you do.Why he didn't play good in Detroit THIS SEASON you mean? There's probably no single reason to explain that. The whole team underachieved at the start of the season. There were injuries and stuff going on and he lost his confidence. Like I said before, you don't just start working hard by snapping your fingers. Why didn't Dan Cleary play so well in his earlier teams? Why didn't Jussi Jokinen play well in Tampa? I really don't wish to go through this same conversation over and over again. You've obviously decided that Leino is lazy and sucks no matter what he does. We could ask about it from other teams' fans and I think their opinions would be kinda different. How can you even say something like "he's a streaky player but nothing special" if you haven't even watched him play a whole season. Like I said, I've watched him since -02. I think I know a little better what he is and what he isn't. You're just pissed that he sucked here and no you're trying to tell yourself that he's a bad player. You could say the same thing about almost any team in the league. That 2nd line has easily been better overall, not just because of the matchups.
