Is that everything a hockey player should be?What about skill, intelligence, hockey sense, scoring ability, courage, skating ability, mental toughness and tactical knowledge? I think Doan is far from a complete hockey player. I'm not saying he lacks everything above, but those are IMO maybe the most important qualities. I of course didn't list toughness etc. because I know you already kinda mentioned them.

FNL has the smallest rink after NHL and AHL, I think.
-
It's so funny how in every magical goal scored outside NHL it's just defenders being bad or general level of players in the league so low. I bet that move would've worked with many big tough NHL defenders as well.
-
I don't think I'm the one to start this North Americans vs. Europeans thing here. Some people here just have some kinda image of every European.
-
What made the best players come to NHL in the first place?$$$
-
That's just how I see it, just like you see many things the opposite way. If we start making arguments about actual tougness - which is impossible to measure - it's gonna be a long conversation and I don't have time for that. I don't have to have some statistical fact backing up everything I THINK.Ahh Rocky movies, one of the greatest pieces of propaganda I've seen. Although Rocky was Italian American. I don't know about movie boxing, but I think there are more Europeans dominating that sport in the real life.
-
1. Where do you come up with that? Because it's too threatening?2. NHL is the best league in the world because there was money at first. Would it be anymore if every good European player would go to KHL? 3. Maybe not.

Big North Americans vs. Tiny Soft Europeans.Although I think average European is tougher than average American.

Those guys are like 4th liners on worst teams than the Wings.I support getting a enforcer to the 4th line, but there's no way a guy like Asham is playing in the Detroit Red Wings 3rd line, sorry. Armstrong or Clarkson could be there, but will there be enough cap space? Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Hudler-Filppula-Franzen Cleary-Helm-Eaves Miller-Abdelkader-"enforcer" + Draper, Ritola Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Kindl-Ericsson + Meech Howard Osgood

I never said anything about soft. Just skilled. And I doubt they make that mistake because the game of hockey is moving right towards puck possession and skill, actually playing the game, not some anti-hockey. Red Wings are not anymore the only team with that kinda game style. Canucks and Sharks have also been trying to move towards that. The modern style of hockey is about skill and puck possession. It's not like the 80's or 90's anymore. Sure, it can change back in the future. Bolded part: You hope that don't ya? Why only Europeans? You think Kenny's a racist like you? I think this organization knows the value of skilled players and Red Wings have had the most skilled European players for many years now. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

Maybe because Hudler IS COMING back and Bertuzzi may or may not come back? If Kenny wants Bert back so badly (or more than Hudler) I think they'd signed with him already. And no, as I said I don't care how the results come as long as the come. You people DON'T like Hudler - even if he's tearing it up - just because he is "soft euro" or something like that. But yeah I do like the way the Red Wings have been playing in the past - skill and puck possession. That's been the key for that success and it's a part of the identity. I find it kinda funny that there are more people critizing these kinda skilled player that have been common in the team rather than the opposite kinda tough guys. I have nothing against skilled players or tough guys as long as they get the job done. But this team lacks more offense than defense right now and it's a fact.

I think you can definitely blame Howard as he totally lost the goalie battle to Bryzgalov. The team with the better goalie wins said Juhani Tamminen.
-
The instigator rule applies always. But if you take an instigator penalty (2min for clearly instigating the fight like Morris did there) in the last 5 minutes you'll get a automatic one-game suspension. Although they made an exception with Chara.
-
He wasn't terrible, but he wasn't good enough either. He didn't make enough extra saves like Bryzgalov did. We had much better scoring changes and goaltending was obviously the difference. You can of course always say that he had no chance on that screen shot or something like that, but the fact is that Bryzgalov stopped many of that kinda chances which he basically wouldn't have to stop. You gotta make those extra saves in playoffs and Howard didn't make them.
-
Who's the other one and how is he a ***** exatcly? xDThat was just a normal situation with some bad luck. Too bad for Helm.
-
I actually said Bertuzzi/Williams/Holmstrom will be gone and I think "/" means "or". Although I meant TWO of Bertuzzi/Williams/Holmstrom will be gone.
-
This game is pretty easy to sum up. Bryzgalov has beaten Howard. Of course you can argue that there weren't any easy goals, but Howard just needs to be better as this is the playoffs. He needs to make extra stops like Bryzgalov has. We've had much better chances, but their goalie has been better.
-
Our PP doesn't suck. In fact it's been very good. Bryzgalov has just been excellent. edit: Filppula just outpowered Korpikoski like he did to Ovechkin at the start of the season.
-
You can always want.Kenny obviously wants Hudler here so he's the first priority. Then comes the cap and fitting the right roles. I doubt both Homer and Bert will continue here.
-
Williams/Holmstrom/Bertuzzi will be gone and we won't have Samuelsson and Hossa, so I can guarantee you: Hudler will be in the top6.
-
But they're different sports with different systems. Mind as well compare hockey to golf or horse polo.
-
Well I think it makes more sense to compare hockey leagues with other hockey leagues rather than comparing them to totally different sports.
-
NHL is the one of the few ICE-HOCKEY leagues that have the conference system.
-
What?I think there are more leagues that don't have conferences than leagues that have them.
