I don't think SEL is the most defensive-oriented in the world though. They play in bigger rinks than any other big European league or KHL. There are much more attacking and less toughness and hitting. Your other points were good though.

We need more enforcers! No seriously. This guy is great. The size can be a problem, because we're already a small team. He could maybe do better in a team were there are big guys all over him so he could do his thing. But it would still be a great signing. Low risk, high reward. Probably fits in Babcock's style of play also.

Red Wings GM Ken Holland hasn't given up on wandering Jiri Hudler

Are you really that stupid? Secondary assist can be much more important than the primary assist in many situations. If you have watched hockey you'd know that. Fore-checking the puck away for example and creating a 2on1 situation is much more important than eventually the pass that the other guy makes in that situation. -
I was thinking the same thing. That's how I'd do it for sure. xD

How can Stuart be least valuable if you don't even talk about cap hit there? I mean he's overpaid, but certainly has been better this season than before.

On this St. Patrick's Day, who is your favorite Patrick currently

Elias is not PATRICK, it's PATRIK. Kane is a nice guy, so I voted for him. Class act. -
Well I think it's always kinda harder to move when you're injured. Especially with a leg injury.

The fact is that Kolzig (and probably every goalies in most situations) knows at least something of where the shot is going. When you get a free look like that, no mask at all, you can look at the player's body and the stick's position and predict your save pretty well, if you're an NHL goalie. So it's not about reacting only.

He doesn't have a F in his name.

As a defenseman, when you get more ice time you get more chances to screw things up and make mistakes that lead to goals. When you're a forward, however, you get more chances to score goals and make plays. -

I agree. I don't rate USA any higher than Russia. -

"This league is a joke" : D Gotta love those comments. Don't worry. The NHL will always be the number one. -
Man you really think I love Swedes? : D
-
I always loved this guy. We should've never let him go. You all remember how I said we did a terrible mistake when we didn't resign him? We should fire Ken Holland, he knows absolutely nothing. I'm still a big Samuelsson supporter. I've always loved Swedish players so much!

Every club's leading point guy has a golden helmet in Finnish SM-liiga. Dunno what's with the golden back of jersey or something like that in Swiss league.

Granlund was on fire again tonight, scoring two goals (the 1st and 3rd in the video). Game highlights

So basically we wouldn't need police in either. People would just call their buddy to go and beat up the bad guy. Doesn't work like that, and wouldn't work in hockey either. There are certain rules in hockey, like laws in real life. Referees are the police and they take care of the justice. Don't you understand how stupid it even sounds that punching someone in the face would be the punishment? We aren't living in the Stone Age anymore.
-
This.Let the players play and the referees handle the punishments.
-
As I said in the other thread. Removing the instigator would just create an another way to hurt player with diry way. If players do cheapshotting now, I can easily imagine to hurt the players they want when the rule is removed.
-
If guys do cheapshotting now, I have no trouble imaging guys beating innocent players if the instigator is removed. If you wanna hurt someone you could just start beating him, because it would be allowed. That's just an another opportunity to be dirty. I do think the pre-instigator NHL was more violent and less about actually playing hockey than it's today.
-
You clearly see how many holes that removing the instigator rule leaves. You really can't be sure that it takes care of anything. I think hockey fights are OK, but they just don't work in this situation as a punishment. It's a too random thing. Removing the instigator creates more harm than good.
-
So basically it's worked like I said. You can use your "Boogaard" to beat the s*** out of "Datsyuk" without any penalty? I think that when you start hitting someone when the other guy isn't doing anything to you it's just as bad as cheapshotting. Both should be rewarded with suspensions.
