Well the game doesn't change much in under a year. But the game is definitely faster than it was about 5-10 years ago. Thanks to the new rules.

"Start out using", while I thought he mean that he "will start using". I'm happy that it was a misread (or my language problems), because I certainly don't want to see Miller playing center.

The reason Miller is playing center is because Babcock wants him play center in the future too. He said it in an interview in some article (mlive possibly). I still think Williams is an offensive player, he just hadn't be good enough to play in top6, but he's that kinda guy anyway. I just don't agree with that "strong back checker" thing...

He's still played wing all season. Babcock obviously wants to keep him on the wing as we have seen guys like Miller playing center over him. And even if he has played in 3rd/4th line before, doesn't mean he's "3rd line center type". He's an offensive player. His weaknesses are in defensive play. Hardly a good 3rd line center IMO.

Williams isn't really a 3rd liner type and he's been playing wing all the season. We could get rid of Williams, May and Lebda or Meech and get a center with about 1M cap hit.

Has anyone really even seen that interview, ever? In what media was that posted? I find it kinda hard to imagine that he really meant it like "won't", even if that's what he said.

Rafalski plays with Lidstrom. Rafalski doesn't play that much in defensive situations.

Didn't we already go through all this "overpaid" talk? The average cap hit for guys having about the same ppg than Filppula was about 2,7M. Looking at the points, Filppula was overpaid by about 300k. But that's only when counting in also those entry level contract guys. If you compare him only to the guys who are not on entry level contracts - which would be fair IMO - he's not overpaid. It was a statistic fact, no need to argue about that. AND that's only looking at the points. All this being easily in top10 defensively among those about 50 players who had about the same ppg than Filppula. Filppula isn't overpaid. End of discussion.

Tollefsen clears the waivers. Leino wouldn't. Dunno what the GM's are thinking...
