We didn't draft Leino. He did play a full year in the AHL as a 25 year old. Even if two or three European players do something, doesn't mean every European acts like that. There are more options than "dump and chase American" or "never-gonna-come-to-NHL European". NHL wouldn't be much without the European players. As a Red Wings fan you certainly should understand the meaning of foreign players. That's all I'm saying.
-
It's all Leino's fault.
-
Timeout? NOW? Why didn't they call it after the first Kings goal? Or the second perhaps? You could obviously see earlier that they were not focused.
-
"I would rather draft people who are gonna play dump and chase in North America then draft people who are gonna play like little girls from europe and stay in europe for their whole careers." Not being xenophobic? And what do you mean exactly by saying "acting like it's their right to play in the NHL"? You mean NA players deserve playing in the NHL more than players outside NA? NHL wouldn't be the best league in the world without players outside NA.

I don't get it, because that second goal wasn't my argument for Filppula deserving the 2nd line center post. I already started posting that after the first goal and there were only 16 seconds between the goals. The reason why Filppula should be the 2nd line center is because ZDH should be kept together (=my main point) and he's been playing good recently, even without that lucky goal.
-
Which was a reply to my original comment about ZDH looking good. Still don't get it?
-
He held the record for most NHL games by an European player before Lidstrom took it, you know?
-
"Read through your owns posts buddy. You're arguing something that no one else brought up. " I'm the one arguing something no one else brought up? I'm saying how good ZDH looks after the first goal. Then someone replies something about lucky goal? Filppula's goal might have been lucky, but it didn't have anything to do with my post. After that I reply further saying the first goal wasn't lucky (even if the second was) and that I support keeping ZDH together. What does Filppula's lucky goal have to do with ZDH looking good? Filppula deserves to be our 2nd line center because of the fact that he's been playing good and the fact that ZDH works. One lucky goal doesn't change anything.

Look, read through the posts before you post. OK? After the first goal I posted that ZDH should be together in the future too, because it obviously still works. I also stated that Filppula deserves to be our 2nd line center. After which mindfly replied about the lucky goal. Doesn't really matter looking the big picture. I never said that goal wasn't lucky. I don't care if it was and it still doesn't matter regarding the lines.
-
I know. But I was talking about keeping ZDH together.
-
"Listen, we've played Homer with Pav and Z through the year and it's not like they've been on fire by any means," Babcock said. "When we get Mule (Franzen) back, I don't foresee them playing together. I think we'll split them up and play Pav with Mule." Don't see how that first goal was lucky. Holmstrom doing his job in front of the net, Datsyuk making the play from the side boards and Zetterberg finishing it from the middle.
-
I really don't understand why ZDH can't be our 1st line in the future. Filppula obviously deserves to be the 2nd line center.
-
NO FEE GUARANTEE! Just remember it!
-
I think this has nothing to do with playing philosophy. The modern style (=Babcock's style) is mostly about passing and puck possession, not so much about dumping and chasing. Just because you can actually play hockey, doesn't mean you're a *****.
-
Guys like Kovalchuk and Ovechkin want to play on the "wrong" wing to get better angle shots and one-timer opportunities.
-
I agree that Finnish league is no where near as tough as the NHL. Still, it's the toughest league in Europe. Tougher than KHL in my opinion. It's easily tougher and much better than something like WHL. I would say Finnish league is comparable to AHL, with AHL being a little tougher and Finnish league having little more skill. I'm not defending Leino here, just saying. Leino isn't as tough as the typical Finnish players are. He's more like a Russian.
-
Dunno what he's done so far, but I'll think he can still do a lot more. I hope he does well, but I know there was no way he could do that in the Red Wings anymore. Sometimes changing team is just necessary (Jussi Jokinen and Latendresse for example).
-
Holland was ok getting only that draft pick in the trade, but Flyers wanted to get rid of Tollefsen. Tollefsen will be waived.
-
I don't think so. "FYI, Leino will not play tonight -- even if he arrives before game time, I am told." link
-
This trade probably does good for both guys.
-
Every trade made this year has involved a Finnish player?
-
Reading through comments of the Flyers fans, it seems like Tollefsen is like the Flyers' version of Lebda.
-
If Tollefsen is as good as he's in NHL 10, this is a good move. Leino and Philadelphia? Not a very good combination. edit: Tollefsen's cap hit is 600k and his contract ends after this year. Better than Lebda and Meech? At least he's bigger than them.
