Of those guys: 1. Brodeur 2. Miller 3. Kiprusoff 4. Lundqvist 5. Luongo 6. Nabokov 7. Ward 8. Fleury 9. Thomas

We'll you must have a pretty good league there then. I'm prettttty sure he won't clear the waivers if he ever gets waived...
-
Doesn't really matter if you were good a year or two ago if you suck now.
-
Dunno know about that. But I do know that I'd never trade Ponikarovsky for Williams...
-
Well teams like Penguins then.
-
How many threads...? 1. Canada 2. Russia 3. Sweden 4. Finland 5. USA 6. Czech 7. Slovakia 8. Switzerland
-
You mean you'd trade Ponikarovsky for Williams?
-
Against Penguins, it is absolutely vital to split Datsyuk and Zetterberg. If we don't, they'll just play Staal against Z-D line while Filppula needs to worry about Crosby/Malkin.
-
Haven't seen many English players in this team either...
-
He will probably be a winger in the Olympics.
-
Yep, or those who score less than .57 ppg but make more.
-
"Country of the Red Wings" Just curious would you be a fan of this team if there were no Swedish players in it?
-
The average cap hit among those 47 players is 2.677644085, so based only on the point totals Filppula is overpaid about a little over 0.3. You couldn't even sign a player for that money. Not to mention he's top10 defensively of that group. So I agree. Filppula is slighty overpaid when looking at point producing. I'm so glad he's much more than those points and that's why we're not overpaying him. xD

I've been a Red Wings fan since -99. But if Team Finland and Red Wings would play, I'd cheer for Finland. I think anyone of these fans outside NA would be either lying or very unpatriotic if they'd say something else.

List of the forwards that are in the range from 0.5706896552ppg to 0.6706896552ppg: Jason Arnott Brandon Dubinsky Andy McDonald Matthew Lombardi Scott Gomez Ryane Clowe Kyle Okposo R.J. Umberger Mikael Samuelsson Matt Duchene Chris Kunitz Johan Franzen Mikael Backlund Scottie Upshall Matt Cullen Dan Sexton Tuomo Ruutu Bill Guerin Eric Fehr Olli Jokinen Brad Boyes Saku Koivu Wayne Simmonds Andrei Kostitsyn Ryan Vesce Patric Hornqvist Valtteri Filppula James van Riemsdyk Kris Versteeg Sam Gagner Eric Belanger Steve Sullivan Joffrey Lupul Jordan Staal Niklas Hagman Steve Reinprecht David Clarkson Mikhail Grabovski Alexander Frolov Matt Moulson Radim Vrbata John Tavares Claude Giroux Michael Frolik Daniel Cleary Brenden Morrow T.J. Oshie There are 47 forwards in that range, which I think is enough to get realistic results.

I'll start to make the calculations now. Filppula is 0.6206896552 ppg. I think the range +/- 0.05 (about 45-55 season totals) would be good. So I'll count in every forward from 0.5706896552ppg to 0.6706896552ppg. I'm not sure if it's wise to count in forwards on entry-level contracts.

As I said. Only soccer is similiar with hockey among those sports. And I mean statistically and how the game works. AND in soccer you get more points playing a tie (aka OT loss in today's NHL) than losing.
-
So now it's not about points anymore. Now he just IS 3rd line center in the NHL because you say so right?
-
By the way, it's funny how you make a point here, yet you have no real arguments for it. Then there are guys who can prove you wrong with numerous different ways, but you say that their arguments doesn't matter. I think that Franzen argument was one of the best in the thread so far. There is also the argument based on stats and the argument based on comments by coaches and another hockey players. All of them which are against your first argument. Give up already.
-
Why you need to do the math? Because you're the one in the first place saying he's overpaid. If you wan't to know if he's overpaid (based only on point totals) you can do it like that. I'm sure he is not overpaid based on points, not to mention his defensive abilities.
-
Just do the math already. Take every forward in the league who has almost the same ppg with Filppula and calculate the average salary. Unless you're scared?
-
Read my previous post and do the math please. I'm sure there are players who put up more points than Filppula with smaller salary but that doesn't mean Filppula is overpaid.
-
Damn you're stupid. That was my whole point there. The other teams are just paying players what they think their value is and that's how the market works. It doesn't mean they're overpaying them. If you wan't to know who are really "overpaid" (based on point totals) you should do this: lets say there are X guys in the league who put up 50 points. You calculate the salary total of them all and then divide it with X. Every player who get's more than the average is overpaid and everyone who gets less is underpaid. But that's only statistically, and only about points. Filppula is so much more than that.
-
So teams who basically just lose 15-0 playing lazy and sucking deserve the same amount of points than teams who battle hard and get to the OT. Baseball, as a game is entirely different, than hockey. I mean the whole scoring thing and how the game works. Soccer is much more like hockey, and in soccer you get more points for tie than loss. But they're Europeans, so they probably don't know anything though...
