No thanks to Carle. Terrible defensively and a turnover machine. Coburn would be nice though, but I doubt he's moving anywhere.

It was just a lil self-ironic joke.I know Pitkanen very well, his play is very flegmatic. I'd rather get Wisniewski (cheaper, right-handed) first and then see what we need. I like Ericsson, just not for 2,5 mill. The Meech thing was serious though. I believe he'd be a good 3rd pair guy or a great 7th d-man.

The others involve signing Selanne, Leino and Sami Salo. xD

Oulun Karpat is their SM-liiga team.
-
I see Pitkanen and Jokinen ending up in a same team. That way they can execute that "Karpat"-tactic on the PP. They're good childhood friends as well.
-
OP makes a "funny" accidental typo, after which the whole conversation is making jokes about this very funny thing, not discussing the actual subject. Only in LGW?
-
What do you mean what DAY? I think there are pretty much one per day at least.

I've watched Philly a lot last two years (because of Leino) and Carcillo is definitely NOT someone I'd want on the Wings. His level of play is inconsistent, takes way too many penalties and isn't even that good as an enforcer. He'd definitely be a project though. He could end up like Ott or Ruutu - a good PKer, agitator and a player who is decent shift to shift - as he's only 26.

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

Great player! I remember him well when he played in Finland for HPK and IFK. Was amazing player already back then. Thank you Raffi! -
This gif of coach Nurminen landing is like straight from a Chaplin film. edit: and definitely my new avatar

Unbelieveable feeling right now. I just came from the town and everyone were crazy there. Everyone was so happy even though no one bought me a beer.
-
I think that's exactly what miksteri meant, as he is Finnish as well.
-
You never know. I think 220 would be a bit overkill though. He isn't a grinder or a power forward - at least not yet. 210 I think would be the max. 200 would be pretty good as well and probably the minimum. But like we seen so often, many European draftees tend to magically gain 10+ pounds when they go overseas.
-
Think about it this way: you can always add to weight but adding to height might be a bit more difficult. Dunno about that. We draft at 24th and the three NHL.com mock drafts have him going 12, 30 and +30.

Scoring? Size? Pick Joel Armia.
-
Yes. But why can't it be the 4th line winger like I said? It's not about the minutes that much. Defense pairings just get mixed, which is not a good thing. Sami is a nice guy, but he's into politics nowadays.
-
There is? Never heard of that. What I do know is that handball is getting more popular here especially among Finnish Swedes. There are two great teams I know called the ***** and the Dicken.. Kinda cool IMO.
-
I honestly don't get why there are d-man fighters. I mean when you're a fourth line winger or something like that it isn't a big deal if you go the box. But if there are 6 d-men and you're one of them and go to the box for 5min that just messes with the playing rhythm.

Sergei Zholtok. Also, I recall one player commiting a suicide. I think he was from Eastern Europe and maybe played for the Rangers, can't remember his name.edit: Found this: List of ice hockey players who died during their playing career edit2: The Ranger player from Easter Europe was Roman Lyashenko. Why always the Rangers?
-
Makes me sad. He was a great player and from what I've heard a great person as well. Always makes you think when someone dies at such a young age. I can't help but think about something like stimulus, steroids, alcohol, medicines and of course the effect of those brain injuries. You just don't die in 28 unless there's something really wrong. And I don't like the fact that people die because of some sport. Hockey is not bigger than life even if it sounded a cool thing to say. R.I.P Derek "The Boogeyman" Boogaard.
-
It was because the ice wasn't in that good of a condition anymore so he could just "bounce" it.
-
LOL @ the "meh" comments. To pull that one off in the WC Semi Final when the game is 0-0 is kinda like the catch here if you get it. It's not the same to do it in practice or in some college game. Of course the goal itself was amazing, but it was more about the situation. It just takes nerves to do that, which Granlund has.
-
I like this one as well. Parise (he seems like a good analyst) giving credit to him is great. Parise is such a high caliber player himself, makes me feel good for Granlund.
