Cap is what makes winning more special. I think it's one of the greatest things happened here. With the cap, every team is on the same line. Rich owners are exactly what suck: their money could have come from something like real estate business which has nothing to do with hockey. I hope that SM-liiga and other European leagues would have the cap in the future too.

So this means that Leino will re-sign that two year deal max 1M/year. Abby will also be on the lineup in 3rd or 4th line. Filppula will definitely be a top 6 forward; either 2nd line center or 1st line winger. Huds will re-sign one year deal max 2,5M/year. After Homer and Maltby (possibly also Lids and Draper) retire after next season Huds will get a raise if we want to keep him. For how much Huds is willing to sign for determinates if the dumped D-man is Lebda or Lilja. Also worthing noting for some of you guys: I don't think Flip is overpaid and I don't think Huds should get that same 3M. Flip is a better player and he still has more potential. I was also thinking why Leino is signing a two year deal instead of a one year deal. Because after a year we would have certainly more cap space. There are some "issues" when building the lines: - can Leino play in the 2nd line? - is it wise to have a rookie 3rd line? - are Z and D together? - Homer plays in the PP unit, but can he play more minutes 5on5? You have to answer to at least one of the questions 'yes' to get those line combos work. We all know that there will be many different line in the first about 20-30 games.

Wings will re-sign Leino to a 2-year deal

Max 2M over 2years. -
Koivu to Minnesota isn't confirmed. He can still go to Ducks.

Are these lines over the cap? Holmstrom-Datsyuk-Zetterberg Franzen-Filppula-Cleary/Hudler Leino-Helm-Hudler/Cleary Abdelkader-Draper-Maltby Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Lebda Meech Osgood Howard I mean, I just don't get it how we are suddenly struggling to fit under the cap after Hossa and Sammy are gone and only thing we need to do is re-sign two players. If we dump Lilja and give Leino a max 1M and Hudler a max 2,5M we are under the cap. I think Leino can sign under 1M and if Hudler won't we can look for an UFA to replace him. It would be tight to fit under the cap and bring players up next year but after that we would have some room as Maltby and Homer will retire and potentially Lidstrom and Draper.

Leino is a pure offensive talent. He won't take a 2-way deal anymore, so if Wings re-sign him he won't be on the 4th line. Cleary is better offensively than Sammy, he proved that he can be a top 6 forward in the playoffs. The only reason he's on the point is that he's a right-shooter.

U. Dumb. - Leino = 2nd/3rd line winger - Helm = 3rd line center - Cleary in the 2nd line over Sammy - Huds is not gone yet - Draper probably 4th line center

What the heck?! First drafting too goalies then signing Roloson.
-
I think Wings were not ready to offer him that many years.
-
Meech is not going anywhere. He can play both F and D. It's Lilja or Lebda who will be dumped.
-
Hopefully Flip can now prove he's a top 6 forward even without Hossa.

Better overall core of defensemen - Flames or Wings?

I think Flyers should be in this competition too. -

Where are goalies Kipper and Backs?!?!? -
What I did in my NHL 09 Dynasty (I'm not suggesting it for Kenny, it can't even be done): Traded Haydar, Conklin, Samuelsson, Hudler and Stuart for draft picks #1, #3 and #5. #1 drafted a promising left winger (Matthieu Donovan, 78 overall), #3 a promising D-man (Jim Blair, 79 overall) and #5 a promising goalie (Brad Staal, 77 overall). Also drafted a promising right-shooting center (Tim Lannon, 75 overall) #27 overall. Also Chigago proposed trading Cleary for Bolland, which was perfect for me. Bolland is right-shooter, better overall (79-80) and has less years left in the contract (which is important cuz there is prospects waiting in GR). I signed Hossa for 5 years, 8M/year (led the team in points in both regular season and playoffs) and Franzen for 6 years 4M/year. I moved Lebda to GR and called up Kindl, because Kindl had only one year left in the contract and had 75 overall. I also let Leino go because he had only 75 (dunno why he won't get better). Lineup 09-10: Holmström-Datsyuk-Zetterberg Franzen-Filppula-Hossa Donovan-Helm-Bolland Maltby-Draper-Lannon Lidström-Rafalski Kronwall-Blair Lilja-Kindl Osgood Staal I'm done half of the season now and I'm 5th in the league. Suprisingly D-man Jim Blair is leading the rookies in points even though missing 10-15 games. 10-11 line-up, hopefully: Donovan-Datsyuk-Zetterberg Franzen-Filppula-Hossa Emmerton-Helm-Bolland Abdelkader-Draper-Lannon Kronwall-Rafalski Kindl-Blair Ericsson-Pyett Staal Osgood 11-12 line-up, hopefully: Donovan-Datsyuk-Zetterberg Franzen-Filppula-Hossa Emmerton-Helm-Bolland Abdelkader-Zagrapan-Lannon Kronwall-Doughty Kindl-Blair Ericsson-Pyett Staal Howard Team of the future! Also, I have noticed that the cap space just keeps growing and growing in the game. It was like 65 or something 11-12 season in my earlier save. THIS IS NOT WHAT I'D LIKE KENNY TO DO, IT'S NOT POSSIBLE AND MAYBE NOT EVEN WISE.

If you don't like winning Stanley Cups you can always change the team. -

5'11''. Actually has played PK in U21WC and is very good back checker. -
Big size doesn't always mean power and better 1on1 -playing. And the correct height of Rajala is 5'11. (And I don't understand why some of you said Leino was short. 6'1 ain't that short IMO.)
-
Actually most of the Finns living in Sweden these days went there looking for job in the 50s and 60s. Finns don't flee from wars.
-
What do you think wings will pick with their 29th overall?
Finnish Wing replied to a topic in General
What do you know about Rajala's two-way abilities? Played PK @WC, always helps defense. Just because he can score, doesn't mean he can't play D. Rajala is way better player overall, that's the point. Being right-handed isn't enough to make Nättinen a better choice for Wings. Rajala is just so much better as a player. -

I can't understand these people who say Nättinen is better than Rajala. I wonder why nobody is speaking about Nättinen here in Finland then. Everybody speaks about Rajala, cuz he's hot stuff. I wonder if we even have a chance to draft him... And he will be over 180cm (~ 6 feet if I'm right). -
Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Cleary Franzen-Filppula-Hossa Leino-Helm-Draper Maltby-Abdelkader-Kopecky Lidström-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Lebda/Lilja-Ericsson Osgood Conklin I can see this working.

I mean LOL. Flip is as WING as one can be. He's not going anywhere. There's no point signing Hoss if we don't have Flip. Those two need to be together.

FLIP HAS NTC! TRY TO UNDERSTAND IT PPL!

Wings won the cup in '08. But when Todd McLellan left to Sharks he bite off a big piece of our playing type. Many of you are just talking about the players. I agree, players play, coaches coach. Luckily we still have teh most modern type of playing in the entire league, but it's not as good as 08-09. I've also wondered why arent there more Finnish coaches coaching in the NHL. Cuz' there are teams in NHL whose coaches have earned that job just by playing or growing big mustasch or big stomach. Finnish coaches are tactically very modern. The may not be so good at screaming to players or to refs, but the would be great addition tactically for many teams here.
