That was a 60 minute long joke and we were the punchline. Some of you can make yourselves feel better by saying Chicago played an AHL team but after the effort I saw tonight I'd say most other actual AHL teams could've done better. Both teams looked bad tonight though, boring game to say the least. -

Nobody said you had to be chummy or even like them. Just to quit bitching about every stupid thing. Like you said, it's just supposed to be a goofy rivalry but when Hawks fans do the "Detroit sucks" chant it seems like half the members here start PMSing and going ballistic over it. -

I don't care what kind of fans Chicago has as long as they keep selling out. More money being brought into the NHL = a higher cap = we retain our talent. You guys whining about Chicago's fanbase are pathetic. Think about the greater good here and how it benefits the Wings. We can actually have a worthy rival again in the West. -

Looks like plenty of us are over on their boards starting s*** though. I went over to see if Hjalmarsson was playing or not tonight (love that kid's play) and thought I'd read their game day thread for confirmation of him in the lineup. Sure enough, Wings fans causing trouble. I facepalmed. -

Seriously? The guy tossed it down to his own stick and golfed it into the net before it even hit the ice. Sure the goalie wasn't settled in position but the guy had to have the hand-eye coordination and timing to not only get his hand back on the stick and golf it out of the air but also aiming it into the open part of the net. I've seen plenty of goals hacked in out of mid air before but this was probably the most impressive.

I would take Hjalmarsson over any of them and I'd take Seabrook over all of them but Kronwall. But that Hjalmarsson kid is impressive. I hadn't really heard much of him til I saw his play in the WCF last year and he did a great job shutting us down and above all blocking shots. He will be an elite player before his career is over. Even Scotty Bowman has said so. I can't really say the same for pretty much any of our current d-men.

To be fair that could've easily been taken out of context. The original post this quote appeared in conveniently left out the question he was asked. You guys are treating it like he ran up to the podium and pushed Bowman out of the way just to say that, when I'm guessing the reporters probably phrased it that way in their question for him. I could very well be wrong if somebody could post a link.

I still can't believe an owner would do that. I'm baffled how they still had a fan base at all when he was around because I'm not completely sure I'd still support the Wings if Ilitch pulled the same s***. It's just a slap in the face to the fans and the players alike. Maybe it's just me but I'm glad to see an Original 6 team from the West that's actually competitive again. It's been a while.

Why are we even comparing Kane and Franzen again? These guys play two completely different roles on their teams with entirely different skill sets.

I'm pretty impressed Bowman was able to sign all three without having to move anyone yet. Maybe there's hope for them after all. If worse comes to worst then next season they'll be like we are now.

lol how the hell do you possibly blame Huet for that? They just showed the replays on NHLN and he looked like the only reason the score wasn't worse. All three were on the powerplay and two of them he had no chance at all. I don't know a goalie in this league who can stone the Getzlaf line with no defensive help.

We hit a patch of bad luck with injuries after losing some quality players from last year. Things will turn around in time for the playoffs.

He's fixed now. I'd imagine he'll be playing better now that the guy can actually lift his arm above his shoulder. I still don't get why he gets ripped on for a "weak" playoff performance while he had a nagging injury but Datsyuk did worse and gets off scott free.

I cracked up when I read that. Anyway, I caught the highlights on NHL Network and it pretty much looks like the Sharks are having a flukey game and the Hawks are just punishing them for it. Two great teams facing off, something's gotta give.
