Keep telling yourselves Chicago won't be a contender. Once Toews gets back in the lineup and a pure finisher like Hossa I don't see Chicago having many problems. Honestly, I think it'll be a matter of 2 or 3 points that separates either Chicago or us from taking first place in the Central. We've seen what Huet can do in Game 5 of last year. Hopefully that Huet doesn't come back.

This. Hate on Crosby all you guys want but in no way were they "protecting" him. Crosby had Zidlicky at his mercy and the refs jumped in when they saw an opportunity...which is what they're supposed to do. I respect any captain/MVP of a team who are willing to drop the gloves and get their team fired up when they're down.

Isn't Chicago towards the top of the league in shots blocked and goals allowed? I'd say their defense isn't a problem. Their goaltending on the other hand is a joke.

That's why you sign them during the season. I almost guarantee that's what happens. I have no doubt they'll probably sign all 3 since these guys rebuilt Chicago hockey. Their supporting cast will just take a hit. It's up to Bowman as to how hard of a hit that is.

You can whine all you want about the scrapping afterwards but any of these 30 teams would do the same thing if their captain just got harpooned like that. He was injured before we even picked him up and slowly got worse during the year. Let's see you have a great playoff run with a tear in your rotator cuff and tell me how it goes. The guy was one of the main reasons we got to the playoffs. I'd never boo him, he's an elite player. I won't cheer for him, but I won't boo him.

I think we'll make it to the playoffs but it's going to be very frustrating if we have to rely on hoping Osgood/Howard will hit a hot streak just to get by. Honestly though, our guys have to have their confidence shaken a little and I really can't think of a worse team to play next than Chicago. We usually have their number but they're better offensively than the Blues and we have no idea what our goaltending is going to look like.

The fact is none of this matters. Whether Kane did it or not we'll never know because IF anyone gets convicted of anything (which I doubt, it'll most likely be settled out of court) it'll be his cousin since he'll take the fall for it so Kane can save face. I have no problem with an octopus, but the goofy purple one isn't intimidating or inspiring. It's just stupid looking. And branding is everything, whoever hired the designers for the Hockeytown logo should be fired on the spot. Logos get refined and updated all of the time, and the Hockeytown needs a complete overhaul.

I hope so. I love the Hockeytown slogan but the presentation is horrible. Incredibly stupid font that doesn't match any other part of the Red Wings branding. The next thing they need to change is the purple cartoon octopus.

I don't think the Hawks or Flyers should be penalized for this. If the organization has a problem with this then they need to amend the CBA and warn teams that these signings will no longer be allowed and the CBA should be very specific regarding these situations.

If this happens to the Wings it'll be ridiculous. People laugh now because it's the Hawks but this is just the beginning. It's still ridiculous that they acted within the rules and are getting punished for it.

From what I've read lately the economy is slowly on its way back up. I think the cap will stay about the same next year and then rise in proportion to inflation.
