9/24 Pre-season GDT: Chicago Blackhawks at Red Wings

So this is what it was like watching your team play against an AHL team. We were always on the other end of it last year. Chicago couldn't have played ANY of their regulars? -
9/24 Pre-season GDT: Chicago Blackhawks at Red Wings

Yeah I heard the only regular Chicago is starting is Campbell, otherwise the rest are prospects. If we don't win by 8 tonight I'll be disappointed. -
Am I the only one that respects Gary Bettman?
Tommy_Like_Wingy replied to Nightfall's topic in General
I don't understand all the hate he gets. I think he's done a reasonable job. You'll never please everybody when you're in a position like he is. I'm just glad he's not driving the sport into the ground like Stern is with the NBA. What a joke of a league that's become. -
Meanest defense in the league
Tommy_Like_Wingy replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Can't ever discount Philly just because of Pronger alone. Still one of the dirtiest players in the game. -
First coach to bring them a Cup in half a century. No surprises here.
-
Niemi's agent really f***ed him on this one.
-
Looks dumb. The gauges were way better.
-
I don't even remember.
-
Glad to see he hired a professional to do it. Bookmarked.

What ever happened to Miller Brew? I miss that guy. I still remember the first PM he ever sent me. Makes me lol every time.
-
This. IMO it's just a means to an end. If the alternate to a shootout is a tie then I say bring on the shootout. The game has to end at some point so awarding each team at least a point with an extra point going to the team that performs better under the pressure seems like a decent way to handle things. I like how it's currently done.

What the...I don't even...
-
lol aware Miscers are everywhere.
-
What would Nasville want with him? Either way the guy went from a #1 goalie on a Stanley Cup winning team to a backup for less money than he was awarded at arbitration. I almost guarantee it. That's why once I have a kid and he undoubtedly becomes an NHLer I'll be his agent and do what's best for him rather than what's best for my pocket book. If I was Niemi I'd be strangling my agent right now.
-
Yeah but look what team he was on.
-
I'll be surprised if he plays more than 41 games.

I don't doubt that Keith is a much better d-man than Doughty. I just think that since the Hawks have stepped back this offseason and after the surge LA had last season, I think Doughty will have a better shot at putting together a more impressive year than Keith. Maybe it was a little presumptuous to say it's Doughty's to win but I just see him having a better year than Keith, and seeing as how the Norris is given on a year to year basis I don't think it's unreasonable to say Doughty will be the better defenseman this year. Keith > Doughty in overall skill/smarts and production but that doesn't mean Doughty won't win it this year. lol I don't think you understand how businesses work...

Should I complain about the jersey customization?
Tommy_Like_Wingy replied to Behind Enemy Lines in CO's topic in General
If you're anything like me then you're going to notice the defect every time you look at the jersey. Obviously if you're making a thread about it then it bothers you enough to get it fixed. I say go for it. It's not like you're stepping on anyone's toes. That's their job. Get it fixed, you'll feel better about it. -
Agreed. I think it's Doughty's to lose this year unless Duncan Keith has some kind of incredible breakout year or something. I don't really see anybody in the league really giving those two a run for their money. Lids has a very good chance of being nominated though. Same with Pronger, great chance of getting nominated but I don't see him winning.

Vow of silence.

lol'd at futcher

This is nothing more than the NHL trying to save face by making it seem like they're taking a closer look at these contracts to deter organizations from putting together these kinds of contracts in the future. It's not like anything will come of it.
-
Can't really blame Bowman for the mistakes the previous GM made. They fired the guy and have set up reasonable contracts for players that needed to be signed so they won't run into the abortion of an offseason like they had this summer. Seems like those were correct steps to me.
-
What makes you say that? Both organizations have turned things around. I don't think either team will be serious contenders this year but I guarantee they both continue their sellout streaks. Back during the Dead Wings era our attendance dropped too. Once the organization turned things around everybody jumped back on the bandwagon and the team has been successful and drawing in fans ever since. What makes you think the same won't happen for Pittsburgh and Chicago? They seem to be dropping their old bad habits and putting together competent front offices now.

NHL testing new rules and rink modifications
Tommy_Like_Wingy replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Uh Lidstrom is slow as hell now. They'd get smoked. Datsyuk/Zetterberg > Any other 2 players.
