Huh? I thought he was given the bloated contract because he did well in Washington. Granted he had a weak team in front of him in Wash so they didn't do much in the playoffs but Huet at least came across as a competent netminder. I remember him doing pretty well in Montreal too. I honestly don't see why demoting him would be such a terrible thing when they guy has sh*t the bed how many times this year alone? He's just not any good...at all. I mean I wouldn't even trust him as a backup. He constantly lets in softies, and crumbles under pressure. He's just not what he used to be. And if that doesn't scream AHL calibur then what does? I mean how much worse could he possibly get before it would be ok for them to send him down? I mean if there's some kind of breaking point then what would it be? If I was calling the shots down in Chicago I'd have his bags packed for him before they got home from Columbus.

Why do so many say sending Huet to the minors would make their organization look bad and scare away UFAs? It's obvious Huet is terrible and didn't take the reigns of the #1 spot despite numerous chances. So what other reason would they need to send him down and relieve some of their cap nightmares? The guy sucks. I just don't get why a lot of you guys don't think it's a reasonable option for them.

Then what's the point of playing at all? Why not just bring all your AHL scrubs up who would kill for a chance to play in the NHL and then make them do exactly that, kill for it. Send them out there to take runs at every one of the opposing team's star players. Injure them all and take them out of the playoffs. That way your team has a better shot in the post season. Your AHL guys get suspensions leaving your starters to play against injury ridden teams. Brilliant.

Leaving your feet to make a high hit on a guy 10ft away from the puck looked like a good hit to you? I just caught these shenanigans over at HF and that's probably one of the most cowardly things I've ever seen. Clear intent to injure, no question about it. You can't have players purposely trying to injure players, that's not hockey. If it was then I'd be pulling up every AHL scrub I could and having my guys cross checking faces to take star players out of the game. Accidents happen because violence is a part of hockey. This wasn't an accident, it was clear intent to injure as retribution for an earlier clean hit.

Nobody on this forum has any room to whine about officiating anymore after the refs gave us this game. The no goal call changed the momentum for the entire period.

If the only way we can beat this team is by having the refs take away goals from them then I don't like our chances in the playoffs.

I don't really see this happening. Ovechkin in all senses of the word is a dirty player and he speaks broken english. Not really the kind of guy they'll want portraying the NHL. It sucks though because he's much more fun to watch than Crosby and the guy is a risk taker. Easily one of the most talented guys to ever play the game.
