Is Osgood on the verge of a meltdown?

The closest I saw to a meltdown by Ozzie this playoff season was the one game in Columbus where he tweaked his groin or whatever he tweaked and he ended up giving those 5 goals. Otherwise he's been rock steady, with a 2.00 GAA average. That's a little bit worse then last years stellar GAA in the playoffs, and you can argue/attribute that to the PK being worse then last year. -
What year did Stevie start killing penalties on a regular basis? Just curious as I don't remember.

The old Boston Gardens was the shortest rink in the NHL. I guess they didn't deserve their 5 Cups as the Bruins didn't have to skate as far when playing at home?

If the Wings win the Cup this year, what era is more impressive?

The last time the Wings won 5 Cups in thirteen year span was 1943-1955. If they win it again this year it's 5 Cups in a twelve year span if you don't count the cancelled 2004-2005 season. I say the current Wings span is more impresssive given the four rounds it takes to win. -

The Wings are a lot deeper now than in 2007 when the injuries were a contributing factor in the loss to Anaheim. -
Yzerman never bitched or whined when the Wings were getting beat by those great Oiler teams in the Western Conference Finals back in 1987 and 1988.

What teams does Detroit have losing records against? Montreal for sure and I'm thinking Boston as well. I know we are only up a game or two aginst Toronto.

I though the Rangers had a chance to advance into the second round, but their "D" and goalie Henrik Lundqvist let them down.

I'm pretty sure they were favored by a wide margin over the Av's. Some were saying the Pred's would upset them in the first round, but not that many.

The Wings have been getting flack from some their oponents coach for cheating in the face-ff circle the last couple of years in the playoffs. Fans of other team's message boards complain about the Wings players contined obstruction of their teams players.

Osgood has really jacked up his game for the playoffs. You can knock him for having his worst regular season save % and GAA in his career during the 2008-09 reagular season, but all that's a moot point if he has 75 career playoff wins and another Cup to his bio in the next few weeks.

So much depends on a red # 40, glazed with game sweat beside the white goal net. In other words, If Hank shuts down those kids like he did last year, then it's a moot point that it's going to be a Wing.

Tough to compare the game of 25 years ago to todays since the NHL in the mid-80's was more wide open with a lot more goals scored per game. The better goalies had mediocre GAA when compared to today's goalies. Look at Fuhr's and Moog's numbers, Fuhr's was 3.91 and Moog's was 3.77 in the 1983-84 season! -
It all depends on what the scores are and who scores the goals and racks up the points during the Finals. If Osgood has a shutout or two and Crosby only has a few goals and assits, then Osgood could win the Conn Smythe. I think he's behind Franzen and Hank ATPIT though as far as Wings players are concerned, so they would need average Finals for Ozzie to win. Nick lost some CS momentum by not playing the last game.

He would be the third and probably the last of the Russian Five to get into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Slava Fetisov and Igor Larionvo are already in. Slava Koslov isn't racking up enough points these days with the Thashers to end up with HOF numbers. I bet #16 would have made it if not for the terrible accident. Nick Lidstrom might not have all those Norris Throphy's as well if Vladdy was still playing.

Why waste the physical play during the regular season and risk being injured? Stuart and Kromwell saved it for the playoffs and add Helm's hits to the mix and suddenly they are physcial enough to win the Cup.

The last time that one team beat the same team in the SCF to win back to back Cups though was Montreal beating Boston in 1977 and 1978. So for our sake let's hope the Wings repeat what Montreal did to Boston in 1978 and not what happend to the Islanders in 1984 at the hgnads of the Oilers. -
I'll go with Osgood as the Wings MVP by a nose over Franzen, Z, and Cleary.
